As I can recall, the driver of the cossie that was produced into a fireball, did not live. And about beeing a spectator, it is dangerous and it can kill you, but its not the drivers fault if something happens. This was the great issue in the late 80's, when so many spectators was killed, so thats the reason for crowd control on the bigger rally events...

The last one was the accident in Portugal that ended the group B era. There where 31 injuried and 4 dead.

acctually that accident wasn't the responsible one to put an end to the group B era. The group B ended when Henri Toivonen tragically went of the edge of the road in the Tour de Corse

in the last one, three people were killed and 30 injured... four of that injured died in the hospital... The RS that came up in flames.. took the life of the codriver.
