I was is 5th grade glee club in 1976-- the USA bicentennial--we had to learn this and I still remember it.  I taught it to my kids when they were little. We were singing it in a restaurant one time when service was slow, and after we finished all the states, the guy next to us said WOW that's impressive!!!! Great way for the kids to learn all the states in alphabetic order.
