The other two are more oriented towards enjoying the moment and focusing on their interaction with others. The admiration and appreciation they have for each other is a beautiful thing to witness and for the rest of us, constitutes the source and inspiration for their art.

I have watched this video over and over, and it never gets tiring. One of the things that I have appreciated about them is how "goofy" they are. Such a contrast to the cerebral nature of their music. While their music is profound, they don't seem to take themselves too seriously. I love this band beyond words, and seeing videos like this make me appreciate them that much more.
@AAndrews1968 I like just how grounded they are and just act like close friends. I could imagine if it was another band, like KISS; they would have to have hot chicks all around and show their egos, etc. They don't even realize how huge of icons they are and it seems like you could pull up a seat next to them and join in. You can clearly tell Neil is trying very hard to "fit in" here. It's too obvious he doesn't share the same kind of (almost childish) sense of humor as Dirk & Lerxst (as was mentioned in one of the previous interviews.) Neil even looks "left out" in some moments. Maybe it's the alcohol. Maybe it's the fact the they hadn't seen each other for some time. Maybe it's because Neil is still the "new guy" after all these years. But he sure does come across as being awkward in this video.

@TiramisuHappy I've watched this numerous times and I agree with you. Neil lives in Ca. and Alex and Geddy live 3 blocks away. I feel they have a deep friendship but they relate with Neil more on a music and lyric level.
It's just great to see they can get together and as always they are grounded good people.
@bjoelfn55 I actually catch how they feel Neil is a fellow brother. When Neil lost his daughter and wife, Alex stated that at that point, Rush was just not important. And Geddy had said he will not be in a band called Rush without Alex and Neil; it's those three men. I think their bond with Neil is strong as well.

Final point. -- I'd just like to say, Niel is so smashed. Hell he was drunk before he even sat down most likely. But a little of it is drunk on life. He obviously needed these two fellas in his life. Most of the reason they returned after over 5 years away from their craft; was Niel "needing" to return. And he obviously was giddy as hell this night. Thank God and good for us all he did.

Not true. Neil just has a different personality type. I'm sure if he didn't "fit in" with Alex and Geddy, they would have parted ways a long time ago. I get the impression that the friendship between the three of them is strengthened by their individuality. And I think Alex, and Ged love him. :)

He's just so refined, he's the last guy to make presumptions about anyone else or rush to a conclusion too early. He treats conversation, and even his closest relationships, like a stew. That is, he takes his time, is respectful, and its worth it. Not much of a microwave guy, if you know what I mean. Watch it all.

Neil is a complement to the banter at these points because he is reacting to the moments; he is not awkward with people he's known most of his life! Consider what you are saying. I have watched this video over and over, and it never gets tiring. One of the things that I have appreciated about them is how "goofy" they are. Such a contrast to the cerebral nature of their music. While their music is profound, they don't seem to take themselves too seriously. I love this band beyond words, and seeing videos like this make me appreciate them that much more.

@AAndrews1968 I like just how grounded they are and just act like close friends. I could imagine if it was another band, like KISS; they would have to have hot chicks all around and show their egos, etc. They don't even realize how huge of icons they are and it seems like you could pull up a seat next to them and join in. Bands like Rush are sooo rare; I can't even think of another band like them that are so popular, yet they could be your neighbors.

This is the shit we ALL craved so badly for decades ago. Even up until about 10 years ago; these guys never either had the time or chance to, or just didn't care to give up some of this type of stuff to their fans. I was beginning to wonder if there was an almost "fault" within their group of doing and then publishing things like this. Now? - We have plenty of old interviews and things we all missed way back when. Thanks for doing this guys. We soak this up now as much as we can, for ob reasons.

You can clearly tell Neil is trying very hard to "fit in" here. It's too obvious he doesn't share the same kind of (almost childish) sense of humor as Dirk & Lerxst (as was mentioned in one of the previous interviews.) Neil even looks "left out" in some moments. Maybe it's the alcohol. Maybe it's the fact the they hadn't seen each other for some time. Maybe it's because Neil is still the "new guy" after all these years. But he sure does come across as being awkward in this video.

@TiramisuHappy I've watched this numerous times and I agree with you. Neil lives in Ca. and Alex and Geddy live 3 blocks away. I feel they have a deep friendship but they relate with Neil more on a music and lyric level.
It's just great to see they can get together and as always they are grounded good people.

@bjoelfn55 I actually catch how they feel Neil is a fellow brother. When Neil lost his daughter and wife, Alex stated that at that point, Rush was just not important. And Geddy had said he will not be in a band called Rush without Alex and Neil; it's those three men. I think their bond with Neil is strong as well.

Final point. -- I'd just like to say, Niel is so smashed. Hell he was drunk before he even sat down most likely. But a little of it is drunk on life. He obviously needed these two fellas in his life. Most of the reason they returned after over 5 years away from their craft; was Niel "needing" to return. And he obviously was giddy as hell this night. Thank God and good for us all he did.

Not true. Neil just has a different personality type. I'm sure if he didn't "fit in" with Alex and Geddy, they would have parted ways a long time ago. I get the impression that the friendship between the three of them is strengthened by their individuality. And I think Alex, and Ged love him. :)

If one felt awkward around the other they certainly wouldn't still be together. Being in a band is being in a tight knit relationship like a marriage. @TiramisuHappy Not at all. You completely missed it. Wondering if you watched the whole video. Neil actually turns out to be the most jovial and good-hearted. Completely transparent. He's just so refined, he's the last guy to make presumptions about anyone else or rush to a conclusion too early. He treats conversation, and even his closest relationships, like a stew. That is, he takes his time, is respectful, and its worth it. Not much of a microwave guy, if you know what I mean. Watch it all.

Neil is a complement to the banter at these points because he is reacting to the moments; he is not awkward with people he's known most of his life! Consider what you are saying. I'd bet anything that Alan, Geddy's brother, is taping this moment.

@TiramisuHappy He doesn't have a hard time fitting in. If that were the case, he wouldn't be hanging around them. All three of them have said they still enjoy hanging out and being together, etc., etc., etc....Neil has no problem being funny and displaying a sense of humor. He doesn't display as much of the goofy style of humor that Alex does, but he doesn't seem to have any problem fitting in.

@TiramisuHappy I disagree in part. Having been in bands they are much like cliques in that someone is the leader (Geddy) with the plan "Let's start by writing some songs..." Alex is the comedic relief (guitar in mouth) which every group or clique needs and the comic needs an audience....enter Neil. I DO agree that Neil is still the new guy though and always will be. He came to be with them for professional reasons. Geddy and Alex were buds before Rush but ALL are great guys!
