@JohnxWaynexGacy , because thhe Vietnamese started the whole conflict by attacking one of our ships, tortured our POWs,fought against us,automaticly making them our enemies,or bad guys, and they shot and tortured civilians to. Just before the Tet offensive, they shot hundreds of Vietnamese Catholic nuns, which I can't forgive 'cause I'm Ctholic.
How were the Vietnamese "the bad guy"? Didn't we invade and kill their people? I don't remember when they attacked America instigating a full frontal assault.
@JohnxWaynexGacy They were murduring religious and political minority groups before and during our intervention. Some 3 million were killed because their beliefs did not fit their party views.
This program presents the stoner as some sort of wonder gun that everyone loved. The stoner 63 was a good concept, but it was way to complex, unreliable, and required alot of maintenance. Hence the design project was dropped in 1971.
@Thrabit WRONG. While the .223 and 5.56 is aesthetically the same, it is internally different. .223 is a sporting caliber, and 5.56 is a military-grade round. They use different gunpowder from each other, and most people who are familiar with both rounds would know that a .223 optimized weapon shouldn't be loaded with the 5.56 and vice versa.
No. Shooting a 5.56 in a .223 chambered rifle can cause problems. 5.56 holds extra pressure and is designed for higher velocities. It may look similar, even the same, but in fact, it is not.
@Thrabit No they are not, they may look the same but they are completely different.
.223 is a civilian rifle round, it is not used by the military and civilians mostly use it for hunting medium game, and a .223 round has significantly less gunpowder then a 5.56 round, which is a military calibre rifle round, and has more gunpowder which make it a faster and more powerful round then a .223.
@Thrabit Actually, they are only similar. The 5.56x45mm is loaded to higher pressures. So a gun chambered in 5.56x45mm will fire a .223 round safely, BUT a gun chambered in .223 can NOT safely fire a 5.56x45mm round.
Not really. They do have the same size, but 5.56mm has more pressure. A weapon that is certified to safely fire 5.56mm can also fire .223. But a weapon that can safely fire .223 is not necessarily safe to fire 5.56mm rounds.
@Thrabit No they are not. The 5.56x45 NATO has a thicker case to produce more pressure than a .223. It also has a little different base then the .223.
@Thrabit No, they are not. The 5.56 NATO is a higher pressure round using a different LEADE than the .223 remington. To kentawagi it was 5.56x45mm commonly referred to as 5.56NATO
@Thrabit More or less, but their is a slight difference. Generally a gun chambered in 5.56 can fire .223 but not always the other way around (ex: Mini 14).
AR-15= single shot version of M-16. Most civilians that own a "m-16" really have an ar-15. same goes for G3(selective fire)=HK91 (single fire, civilian version). You dumb d00d
The AUSSIES weapon of choice in VIETNAM was the SLR 20 round 7.62x51 gas operated self loading rifle.=SLR has A shit load more stopping power then the US m16 with its 223 round
I only clicked to watch this video because the icon showed a person holding a rifle completely wrong. You can see it at 2:20, who ever made that 3d model has never seen a weapon before, it's not the kind of mistake that you could just shrug off, that's the kind of mistake that makes this look so terrible, that it causes people (me) to click this video just to see why it's demonstration failure while "SEALS" is in the title.
@lethalappetite sadly, thats how the armed forces hold their rifles now, with the very end of the but plate just barely contacting their vest. I shake my head when i see this, and wonder what happened to the art of the rifleman, and even army statistics say 90% of the time they just shoot in the general direction without even seeing the target
@lethalappetite Lol that's how you hold a weapon of that size in close combat or at a high ready and I know for fact that when you are showing a model of the product the aesthetics of the product are not significant when showing the interactions of the weapon.
@lethalappetite Uh, actually combat troops sometimes hold the buttstock over the shoulder for better maneuverability and faster sight acquisition in close quarters (like room to room) combat. So no, that animation wasn't entirely off... Other than him having his face so close to the rear sight it'd probably smack him. But other than that, it was fine.
I had a driving instructor who was a SEAL and told me of a weapon that used M16/thompson machine gun rounds, AND AK rounds. So they can take clips from the enemy.
The AR-15 is develops from the the dutch AR-10 that sold the plan to a Amerikan developer in the usa because the dutch royal army dont like te AR-10 an bought the FN-Fal from Belgium factory of FN.
All the guns like the AR-15, M-16, diemaco C7 and C8 from Canada and more guns like this are coming all from the first design of the dutch AR-10.
@SezFromMalygos .......That is correct...to a point. Patches is not wanting any excess skin oil to get on what is now a museum piece. He is the currator of the Navy SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce, FL. The gloves are to protect the weapon, not keep him out of trouble.
Yup. If you look at the Mg42 operation, its quite simple. If you took that action, and stripped everything else off, and then fitted it into an assult rifle platform, that would be better.
Negativ...they overtook some parts of the belt feeding system from the MG42, that mostly consisted out punched metal part that were fairly cheap to produce...The operating system derives from the much older Lewis Gun and the FG42.....
Furthermore the replacement of the barrel was more difficult, because the M60`s bipod was for some reason directly connected with the barrel which you had to be taken off if you wanted to swap barrels..
@Southern661 true it was modeled after the MG42...but remember the MG42 was a heavy machine gun. It was never really used like a BAR. the M60 (which had been designed similarly like the MG42) was able to have the power of a belt fed heavy machine gun, but able to be fired like a BAR and/or like a M1919.
these motherfuckers didn't know of the AK-47 then . the guy that designed the M-16 admitted that the AK-47 was and still is the best weapon. when asked what gun he would want his son to Carrie in a war , he answered an AK47, all this shit is the propaganda that is still being fed to the stupid seals and all the other stupid brainwashed idiot solders of today. they can't question nothing they only follow orders. that's why they keep getting their asses beat on ground wars. !!!
@jaceren69 - "They" (IE U.S. special forces) not only knew of the AK-47, they used them whenever they wished. Eugene Stoner was a weapons design genius - if the AK series was the best one overall, he would have adapted the design so we could use Chicom ammo. The AK series is reliable, not accurate. Try to use an AK to consistently hit torso size targets with sub 12 inch groups out past 120 yards...try and fail. The M63A was an outstanding system.
@WarhorseModelworks . The wonderful thing about the AK-47 is that it's affordable and reliable & also it's not finicky about what kind of ammo you feed it. Have you seen the Show "Sons of Guns " ? They proved that it's possible and very accurate at even 1000 yard..SO for the coast of a tricked out AR or Stoner rifle you can have a more affordable and more reliable rifle in the AK design. I like the AR but not for use as a war Gun !. just a good varmint gun (223 cal)
@WarhorseModelworks .Have you noticed the new gas system designs for the AR rifles ? The are simply copying the AK gas piston design because it's proven tough, reliable and simple to maintain in a working condition. The piston design runs cooler and will not clog up or jam as easily as the AR. There is an episode on the show "sons of guns " where it shows the gas tube get cherry red hot on the AR and proved to be very dangerous if it was shot more then 300 shot with out cooling.
@WarhorseModelworks . I think that Eugene Stoner was a genius because i love all kind of different guns. But i must be honest about a tool that your putting your life on to perform in the toughest conditions. I give credit to Stoner for making a cool looking Gun but the Ak is way more superior in Power, Reliability, simplicity and Durability. I can say that The Ak is not as accurate as the AR But i would not sacrifice performance for that one accurate shot that may be your last.
@WarhorseModelworks .You got me all riled up on one of my favorite subjects. I will say one more thing about the AK, when i say that the AK is not as accurate as the AR we are talking about a 1/2 or one inch difference at 100 yards. I know that if you shoot cheep ammo from an AR the Ak will out preform the AR in accuracy. I must tell you that the barrel length, thickness & speed of the bullet will make a big difference in accuracy. as well as the shooters competence in shooting the AK rifle.
@jaceren69 The AK vs. AR family debate will never end, but I do note that the newest Russian weapons in the AKS-74 etc. series fire ammunition that is very smilar to .556 62 grain, a switch which IMHO shows that even the Russians saw that a modification close to the AR/M-16/M-4 ammo was warranted. My comments are related to the pre-74 AKs. In well-trained hands a standard AK (7.62x39mm) can hit small groups out past 100 yards, yes. I would take a belt fed or box feed .556 over that. (cont.)
@WarhorseModelworks . The AKS-74 sales are not doing good. I would not by a rifle that has less power and less available ammo to shoot. I'M not one of those brainwashed political fools that believe in carrying more ammo that is less powerful. I believe in having one round kills then to have many rounds just wound my enemies. The 223 cal is designed to wound and not kill at 100 yards .That is why 223 is not permitted for hunting big game animals like deer and elk.
@jaceren69 Part II - The original AK is a great tool, and can be used with mud up the barrel, etc. But I am still waiting for a comparable system, similar to what the Stoner had, from the Ak family of arms. I have not yet been able to get my hands on a SCAR, but it would appear that is a similar "modular" concept. In any event, carrying hundreds of rounds of .556 at a lower weight is very important. I would have more respect for the pre-74 AK series if we had (cont.)
@WarhorseModelworks . I love Guns and respect those that love Guns for their protection of home and country. Stoner is not the best gun designer but i still respect his efforts in making some cool guns. I don't like some of his gun designs only because he didn't use the KISS rule "Keep - It - Simple - Stupid " . Stoner's Gun designs are nice but have to many small moving parts that can break be lost or wear out to soon.
Part III -real evidence based on use by fully trained (IE not African rebels or Taliban militia or Zetas) of the hit rates for the 7.62x39s in the hands of regular troops who get range time. I realize combat hit rates are abysmal all around, but the "one shot" you mention, could be the one that saves your life, as opposed to spray and pray. Anyway, both Kalashnikov and Stoner were weapon design genuises. Last, never shoot cheap ammo (polymer coated? slime) - better to learn to throw M-80s.
@WarhorseModelworks .Spray and pray is what the AR is good for because one shot kills are not very often achieved with a 55 grain bullet that loses it's terminal energy real fast. The 30 cal bullet has more mass and more kinetic energy to disperse on impact . so your left praying that the last bullet that comes out of your jammed or broken AR would have done what it begun. The guns of the past like M1 grands and M14 where made to take a liking and keep on ticking ! Not the M16 or AR-15s
@WarhorseModelworks . I would love to afford all of Stoners Guns but for a simple person on a budget . The AK is the best Way ! And like I've sad before Ak all the way or no way !. I know that most simple people just want something that works well and will not break or wear out to soon. The other thing is that simple people like simplicity and not a lot of bells and whistles that cost to much and are fragile The AK is a legion and I'm not prejudice against Guns I'm just simple and reliable.
.223 and 5.56 are the same bullet, but the ammunition is different.
