I waited until recently to watch this film. I is probably one of the best films I have seen. It is something you see and just stays with long after you watch it.
Yeah I just found your review on this... sweet! I rented this a month or so ago, based on what I'd heard. It was definitely refreshing. I have to say I was very distracted by the dubbing, though; it veered on the comical, which took me out of the overall tone. But I was quite captivated and satisfied, for a change! (The ending shocked me.) Even my hubby agreed...
I fell asleep during this movie.. and I wasn´t the only one doing so. I tried it again a couple of weeks later, same thing. The book says to be way better tough, have oyu read the book so you can make any judgement on it?
Most British horror fans that I've talked to are huge fans of American horror, so I don't think you're opinion is a popular one among many of your fellow citizens.
If you wan't to see Sweedish "action comedy"... check out the movie "Kopps" it came out in 2003, way before "Hot Fuzz" but is as similar in theeme as Twilight and "Let the right one in"¨;) A way different film though. When you looking for hard boiled action though Danish filmakers are worth checking out :)
@RadioactiveReviewsTV ever heard of Bergman? But seriously. Sweden doesn't make good movies. we are probably ATLEAST as conventional and political correct as Hollywood. this though, best swedish movie in 10 years
The movie is way to dark for a mainstream audience... so they probably gonna cheese it up :/ Well.. at least this movie live on anyways :) It's climbing on IMDB so the words out about it!
Couldn't agree more with the review! Great stuff guys. Just went to see this film yesterday and it was amazing. The two leads are just top notch. Let's hope the remake can do it justice!
but the guy who directed cloverfield is the one who's making the remake and apparently there were many things from the book left out of the swedish movie. I think it might be a good remake
It was a well reviewed film. LTROI is simply amazing and a beautiful film. I will buy the orginal LTROI Dvd when it is released on March 10, 2009. Btw, Great work. Keep it up!!!
Thanks. You know I have a suggestion. Why don't Matt Reeves work with Dir. Alfred Tennyson/Pennyson? Also, bring Alfred Lindvist with them. Cast Kare and Lina as Oskar and Eli, I really dont have anything against remakes, but with the right ingredients, it could be a beautiful and a masterpiece. What do you think.
I´m so happy we´ve got Let the right one in, makes me a bit more proud of my country.. and the awesome book it´s based on is almost exactly like the film; some minor changes is all.
You can tell the author wrote the screenplay. ^-^ <3
You need to find another way to channel your anger problems. Yes, the cameraman said something. Whoop-de-fucking-do. So what if Americans make mistakes, half of Europe ignored Hitler, so they must be stupid too. And South America's stupid because of the drugs and illegal immigration into America, et cetera, et cetera. Calm the fuck down, and go listen to your screamo punk shit.
Saw this movie earlier this night and I can definetly see why Americans find this movie so apeling. Interestingly though; Most Swedish people doesn't find this movie as great as you yanks do (neither did I). The film setting and atmosphere (cold IKEA country; both social and tempature vise) isn't as exotic here. But still think that it was a good movie. And the sweet and innocent relationship beetween Oscars and Eli was just fantastic!
As I already said; the depressive Swedish suburban winter experience is wery well depicted in this movie. Atleast in my own experience (and probably the directors too as it its somewhat autobiographical).
in summary,
Sweden is as fucking deppresing as portrayed in LDRKI.
Actually I saw it about a month ago. I thought it was great, although I got a little nervous when "Eli" was given some candy and got sick...that was a little too familiar...LOL
While I agree that it was an amazing film, Eli the vampire, is a male character. Played by a girl, yes, but a male character without reproductive organs. Still, nice review, I like your style.
We appreciate any comments you have, though I believe we actually make light of our American ignorance. Also, we kinda mentioned that this was a great film, one of our favorites for the year. It's a lighthearted review and I wish that the comments would all be in the same tone. Thanks for watching - Mord
Definitely a European feel, but original and disturbing. Not long ago, I proclaimed that the vampire theme was played out and movies like Twilight were the last nail in its coffin. Then this movie comes out and shows that you can always give a new twist to an old theme - Mord
Coming from a Swede: The movie was not that good. Prefere American movies to be honest.

I had no clue that you guys reviewed this . . .
It didn't blow me away, but it is definitely a brilliant portrayal of the vampire myth.

I'm wondering how the American remake gonna be...

I am afraid it's gonna suck. I mean why the heck are they doing remake anyway? Movie was perfect! Those Hollywood idiots are gonna ruin it!

The sweeds are big on Dogme movies as well, they tend to get a bit... weird ;)

Interesting... I don't think I've actually seen a Dogme 95 movie, but I've read about them in filmmaking books.
