  • Eh, I dunno. It was moved to its location after the war in 1950, so there is no real WWII connection. And face it, its a pre-fab steel tube with windows. You can go online and buy a kit that builds the same home in a few days. Plus, its kind of an eyesore, and the property around it is probably worth less because the neighbors have to look a a green steel tube. I respect your passion, though.

  • When they MOVE historic buildings that are threatened with demolition are they still not historic? The story of the WW II era Quonset hut veteran village didn't end with the veterans and their families moving out and all the huts being torn down. Many were purchased second hand for civilian use as this one was so in a way it was the continuation of the veteran village story...something that can't be bought pre-fab today. Oh, and the neighbors we talked to liked the hut.

  • go to hawaii and youll see hundreds

  • Ya, but what condition are they in? Have their interiors been updated since their veteran village days? This one was almost untouched (as stated in the vid). I'm amazed that some people think just because there are other hut around, the loss of this structure was no big deal. We checked out some of the "hut sightings" that others told us about and all of them had been gutted for storage sheds, were heavily remolded or they were the larger elephant style huts not used for veteran's housing.
