I agree. It was funny. I guess he was just being polite as a waiter and the way how he smiled when he said "when he eats that, that's the end of the chicken" he was also feeling sorry for George and Gwen that he wasn't able to serve them what they wanted and he was also feeling sorry that there wasn't too much food in the dining car to serve.
