What's with all the weird remarks towards the snare? I personally dig that wide open sound. It's the muffled bass drum that I'm having issues with.

@VJelectro Sound issues are always ones to argue about. I agree with you on the bass, but the snare...it's a matter of personal taste of course, but I would like snares to...snare, you know. Nowadays they all sound more...uh, I dunno...punchy? But in modern metal, that punchy sound fits the music well, so I guess it's fine.

Yeah his snare sound is one of my favorites but this sounds like the snare lars used on st. anger. Well not quite as bad. Oh well Adler and his beard rule!!

@mrf1098 The snare on St. Anger was the Lars signature 18lb steel snare with the snares turned off and little to no additional sound engineering done on it. It's a very raw sound, much like this very different Adler snare through my camera. So yeah, you're getting a more raw, live sound from both drums.

@RedeyeSPR Actually, walnut would give the snare all body with very little pop. The sound in the video is partially due to the size and tuning of the drum, but mostly because the camera doesn't have a good mic in it.

im a 11 year old drummer and this guy and neil pert are my idols in my opinion there the best out there. i can play this song but it is very hard but i keep trying and some advise for some drummers my age follow what this guy does on the drum kit.

@bloodfag2 Chris is left handed playing on a right handed kit. He plays all his beats right handed, but his fills, rolls and accents all start with his left. Hope that helps.

Hey, deciding favourite drummers is entirely up to you, but I have some guys you should check out before you decide =P

Tony Royster Jr is my personal favourite, an amazing gospel chops drummer who's still young yet plays at such an extreme level. Steve Gadd and Buddy Rich are names that every drummer should know, and for good reason, but you probably won't take to them until you're a bit older just 'cause Gadd is more groove than chops, and Buddy Rich plays jazz.
