  • well, i had an eating disorder at 14. I gained 50 pounds in matter of a few months by polishing off whole bag of brownies, gourmet cookies, eating lots of starchy snacks and more so frozen yogourt in one shot. They are sooo good but when i finally reached 250 pounds, i was thinking woaw i gotta smarten up. i went down to 150. Lots of broccoli and palm size meat for lunch and super, vegetable or fruit snack if i got hungry and exercised lots and got my results. Oh and for breakfast have porige.

  • That type of surgery is nuts. Typical of the mistake of western medicine. Let the smoke out of the window and ignore the fire. Over a long enough time, cutting out refined foods, finding foods that are a good metabolic match for her, and getting some cardio and resistance exercise would do it. Maybe a few years, but it'd do it. I hate lap-band surgery. I think it's criminal.

  • It's not because they are gluten's. Some people's bodies cannot digest food properly and their metabolism is very slow. It's something they are born with. They don't eat any worse than some very small people do.

  • I used to be 5'5 140 pounds and now i'm 5'10 and 135 pounds, I spent 1 summer working out and getting taller and it worked...I actually went from 140 to 115 but I worked out more and puled up a bit more. It's easy for me, but i'm a guy so my body is different than a girls, lol.

  • It's both sad, provoking and frustrating that people seriously think they have 'tried all' when I always hear them name diets they've been on. DIETS - none truly work, cause the only way to go, to lose it forever, is by changing your life style. You eat healthy and you exercise. That is all there's to it, the 'big secret' ! By doing these two things, I have lost over 70pounds so far, and by God, can I do it, so can anyone else:)

  • I lost 20 pounds just from switching to diet soda (was 162). I then went from 142 to 135 with lowering my calories to 1200 a day. I'm now at 125 due to a 45 to 90 minute exercise plan. I'm currently limiting greasy foods. Still eat fast foods... just mostly grilled. I'm also cutting back on red meat & focusing more on grill fish & chicken. Have lost two pounds this week. :) I'm now at 123. I'm still 15 Ibs overweight but I can cross my legs over one another. To me that is the best reward.

  • I know this will sound a little mean, but the girls did something wrong to get fat in the first place. I really don't think genes/hereditary alone can explain THAT much weight. I don't think the girls' diets and lifestyles were healthy to begin with. If I were them, I would have looked at what I have been doing wrong, and try to correct it. It would be nice if the girls could reveal their lifestyles before getting the surgery, so we all have a good idea of what is unhealthy.

  • I swear The only time i see weight loss surgery to be necessary is when a person is so fat they cant even walk. I used to weigh 415 pounds and knocked myself all the way to 284 (as of today) No surgery just changed the way i eat raised my activity level. first thing to cut out is pop, then move on from there. If you can walk then you can lose it. It all starts with the brain :)

  • Everyone, proper eating habits is a discipline that is like reading and writing. The parents or guardian has to educate a child about eating healthy foods from day one. A child has to learn the importance of physical activity and should not be allowed to sit in front of the TV, surf the Internet or play video games at all. It is not such a bad idea to remove the TV and computer from the home to combat this problem.

  • @SuperLemonBar Its very easy to get overweight if you only eat just a little more here and a little more there extra calories everyday. Doesnt have to be a whole lot. People can put on 15 lbs a year just by having 1 cookie a day over their calorie needs. People dont understand how EASY it is to put on weight.

  • Being overweight isn't simply being lazy and eatting too much. There are often a lot of other issues at hand, like "bluelipsredhands" stated about anorexia. It is a real eatting disorder, and shouldn't be made fun of. There are psychological problems involved as well. Often times anti-depressant medication can lower metabolism, which helps put on weight quicker. A lot of people eat when they are depressed, anxious, or what have you. It is rude to say overweight people disgusting and annoying.

  • i Have Been An over weight kid growing up. But Than i got The matter in my own hands and started exceruisng on a daily basis And started eating right, all together i have loss 20 Pounds and loving the way i look. If i could do it Than You Could too. :)

  • Children and teens need to be taught about health and nutrition. How to eat right in correct porpotions and getting out and doing excercise that is fun. Parents and schools should be teaching these things. Instead of saying hey drink Slimfast, go on this crazy diet, take these pills or worst of all have surgery. These kids need to know that they can do it for themselves and build that selfesteem. Adults need to surround them and support them.

  • Diets don't work! lifestyles changes do. Surgery is a semi-quick fix that can ultimately kill you, if things go wrong, complications etc. Eliminating processed food, pesticide laden food, GMO genetically modified foods, environmental toxins, negative relationships all play a key part in weight loss. More clean water, sunlight, positive healthy relationships, loving what you do for a living, clean whole food is also key. Organic, if you must eat meat free range humanly slaughtered animals.

Technically you could actually eat at McDonalds as long as you obied to calories in is less then calories going out.   • Diet pills and weight loss programs won't help.I'm on a diet and it takes motivation,cut out the junk food,stop eating so much,and more exercise (walking,jogging/running,and swimming helps).It hurts being called fat, and instead of sitting there complaining about it, that should be the key to your motivation.

  • drink lots of water sometimes we are thirsty but we think we are hungry, and eat 5 small meals a day 3 hourly rather than 3 huge meals. trust me, I changed from my old diet to this method and it works and I don't feel as hungry as i did before

  • We should glamorize healthiness, not thinness. Being too skinny looks just as bad as being overweight. There are people with health issues and medications that affect weight,i guess what im trying to say is that If everyone made fitness a priority, we would not all be thin but we would be healthy

  • To lose weight all you have to do is take in less calories then what your body normally sustains, eat more healthy and less junk, and get some cardio exercise. Eventually you will lose weight.

  • It is tough but once you change your mindset about food, things get easier. I cried on my first few months when trying to cut junk food out of my life and also cycling at least 12km a day. Now I am 14kg lighter and has a healthy perception on food, I am happy and can eat junk food occasionally without putting on weight. AND please exercise. I normal walk at least 30mins a day.

  • Trying All those weight loss programs for a week and quitting will not help. Losing weight HURTS. Do not get that wrong, it will hurt like a beast, and cookies and ice cream are your worst enemy, worse that Al Qaeda!!!

  • I'm beginning to believe that morbid obesity such as this is caused by food addiction. Yes, losing weight is simple math (Calories ingested - calories burned = negative #) but a lot of these people have deep rooted psychological issues and/or prolonged habits. I'm not saying a lifestyle change isn't what these kids need (because they do), but there should be a lot more to the process (for them) than just diet and exercising. They need a lot of help - physiological and psychological.

  • Look, i can understand if someone has a bloating issue, or any serious uncontrolable disease, but the majority of the time i have no respect for these overweight teens. Although it can be hard to resist temptation during teenhood, they brought this "struggle" on themselves. i dont feel sorry for them at all. It sucks hard, but they are acting like its something they cant help.

  • I've been there. although I don't block myself away from community. what you need is a motivation and a purpose. back then my purpose was to chase girls lol xD. during my "mission" I learned that there's much much more than just looking good, its to live longer. so I'm starting 115/120 kilos, and shrunk to just 80kg. it pays off, I feel more confident, and eating healthy becomes my habit. My target is 75kg,...just a bit more :D

Gastric bypass is just another pointless surgery that helps surgeons and "health care professionals" with a down payment on their multimillion dollar summer home. organic food may cost more up front but in the long run you save money on medical bills

  • Im 12, I currently weigh 124. I've been on a diet for about a week know. At first glance, I dont look fat. I've sucked in my stomach so much, that I just normally suck it in now. When I walk up in the morning, i feel so skinny. My mom is no help. She calls me fat, and when im trying on clothes, she like,''You need to get rid of your stomach, your huge''. I cant stand her anymore.

  • @ImHurtXxXIceSkater ur still growing ur only 12...personally i wouldnt recommend a major diet...especially for a kid ur age...u need the energy and proteins to grow properly... i was a bit chubby as a lil kid...but when i started to go to high school i just literally shot up and grew like 5 inches in my first year lol and that evened out my weight...and a little bit of exercise 3 or 4 days a week never hurt anyone ;)

  • When trying to lose weight, it's beneficial to lift weights in addition to light cardio. A brisk walk of 10-30 minutes mixed with 30 minutes of weight lifting will speed up the fat burning process. Over time, the growth of muscle will add weight and amplify the effect cardio has on the person.

    This so heavily depends on the age. When I was younger and still growing, I had the imagination that I could just eat what I want. But as one becomes older, there is nothing invested anymore in growing up. Maybe one has a job, where he sits around much etc. Many people tend to lack physical activity when they become older.

    Good nutrition is important. Eat mainly vegetables and don't drink your calories, following these advices alone would do a lot for many overweight people.

  • Im happy im losing some pounds off for the summer Heres what i do scince its like a burning oven outside run like hell for at least an hour 2 times a day eat regular and oh yeah baby Water! My friend is also obese but i motivate him to join me in a joging spree he looks very diffrent now compred in the past.We exercise daily because im joining the armed force and no way in hell im going to fat camp!!!!!

  • im over weight and i know its my fault but it is extremely hard to lose weight when you cant afford to eat healthy if you have 15 dollars to spend on food for the day and you have a family to feed there are no healthy options believe it or not but im fat and i love to eat fruit im so tired of eating chips and junk food but its eat that or be hungry as far as exercise goes it would only make life much harder and they way i eat makes exercise pointless america needs to help are kids be healthy

  • @img0ingin You could buy a huge bag of salad for $1.99.Buy a sm can of shrimp cheap and use the juice mixed with a little mayo for dressing.There's $5.00 for days of salads.Make a big pot of stew,pot roast,etc.Lean meals and many meals with $ left over for other lean meals for a family.Oatmeal and whole grain breads from the bread store.You should be able to eat well on $15.00 a day.No snacks,make your own from utube videos on the veggie channels.low cost nutrient meals.

Everyone is so quick to label teen obesity to just eating, thats just the reaction to the trigger....MY TRIGGER: I discovered my father after his gun inflicted suicide, .I was 3 years old. I began to gain the weight shortly after, and ballooned to over 220lbs at 12y/o (5 feet tall) FIND THE TRIGGER, YOU CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. With SUPPORT, and knowing MY LIFE IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR, im now happily a "normal" size

  • I guess 15 percent for an obesity rate is not bad compared to the adult obesity rate, which is around 30 percent nationwide

  • @64roddan but it is bad considering most of the adults who are obese now were not so much so when they were a child. The percentage will go way up as this new obese generation starts to mature. This is an epidemic that needs to be stopped! 

    I agree with whoever said "exercise, mostly cardio". We have a generation of video gamers who don't get out anymore and that's really bad!

  • I have anorexia... there is no difference between that and a binge disorder. People sit there and put down obese people and laugh at them; we all have have emotional issues with food. People look at under weight people and cry, saying that need help. What about "fat" people?? We all need help. So quit laughing and joking. It's not funny. It's a long, long, self-consuming, deadly, disorder.

  • im 247 and i thought about getting this surgery but then i saw the results and it's loose skin. it's ugly and i rather work out for a year and have a somewhat tone body then to have loose old lady skin. i just started my lifestyle change and already lose 3 pounds in 1 and half week :D

  • I weight at reached a peak of 360 pounds when i was mid 18, thats when i started dieting back in June of 2010. Its been nearly a year and I lost nearly 160 pounds. And at 200 pounds and still going and not one day did i take a diet pill, join a program or consider surgery, I cut the shit food out and drastically increased my exercise. It was so much hard work and dedication but its SOOOO worth it, I just wish I could speak to some of these people b4 considering surgery

  • I've never been obese just slightly overweight but this is how i feel sometimes but so far i've lost 3 pounds :)! Im not trying to get skinny so i can b cool and have boys uncomfortably stare at me all the time i just wanna be healthy and i will be bcuz it really isnt hard at all and its kind of fun exercise makes you feel good inside and out!

  • With weight loss programs it makes you think its good food so you can eat lots of it and over eating is just the same

  • I know that some people do have medical reasons for being overweight and obese but most reasons are bad eating habits and sedentary lifestyles.

  • Thank god i am not like that phew. But for you that are... all you need to do is eat egg whites for a few weeks and run on a treadmill. If you live near the beach, try taking up surfing and or just walking or running on the beach. Weight loss diets and pills are not the key! Aerobic exercise is! Just eat healthy and exercise and you WILL see results. Don't loose faith in yourself. - <jazmin3

  • I hate diet pill companies. They make it seem like if you can't lose weight with their products, then you can't do it.

    It's called eating less junk food and gradually increasing your exercise.

  • The girl interviewed in the video doesn't seem to fully understand what she's getting into. Getting gastric bypass does not mean "your body won't let you" eat cookies and ice cream. It simply makes it so that the patient becomes full after eating a small amount of food. It is still possible for a person to eat too much afterwards (which will stretch the stomach).

  • Any of the WLS won't stop you from eating cookies or whatever you want. It's not a cure for food addiction. It is only a tool that can help one lose weight; it will not do it for them.

  • Ok i'm overweight. I've tried everything. I was excersising everyday and eat less calories. I didn't lose weight because I've got hormonal problems. Sometimes, surgery is the only way. Thankfully for me, i got on meds to regulate my hormones, and excersise and diet seems to be working. But some people just can't lose it. Skinny people think its so easy, but when you've been over weight your whole life, it's really hard to get your body to adjust. To change your lifestyle, basically.

  • @tbforte16002 i have the same problem that youve got! i had my ovary removed and i was restricted from exercise (except for walking- which i did do) for 9 months from JANUARY this year. ive got hormonal issues too, and it sucks.

  • I'm overweight myself and i know what obese people mean by "i tried everything"... they bought a book or two or an exercise tape and watched, read a bit, perhaps tried exercising once and then gave up thinking "oh poor me, nothing just works and i don't have time to go to gym but i do feel like snacking in front of the TV..."

    There are no magic free pills to help you lose weight in a month or two, it's a lot of work: exercise, appropriate diet and that would take atleasst 2 years...

  • okay their many reasons ppl are fat these day dont just assume they are lazy or they massively over eat like some ppl have health issues that cause them to gain weight or having ther thyroids being wacked out or they have slow metabolism and most of the times ppl eat out beacuse some ppl dont have time to make a proper meal or they are too poor to afford healthy food so they just go to fast food restaurant and eat the dollar menu which some might eat very little but still is on daily bases

    if u stack veggies on your plate and a smaller serving of protein and carbs you will lose weight like mad if you just do 1 hour of fast walking a day

  • There is a sure way to lose weight....take in fewer calories than you burn. That means a lower calorie diet and higher mobility life, that is it. Unfortunately, it does not seem so easy for many people.

  • THE ONLY WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT is that you prpare to train hard and suffer, That is the only way, Not buying fake sht lose weight programs, People that buys these programs thinks that they wont need to work hard. But thats wrong , the only way is to prpare to suffer and really get a change. And thats how i did when i was gaining weight because i was anorexic, i tryed the programs from the begginging , and i didnt see any fkn results in years and then i did it . I started the real deal.

  • @wadyano i have an obese niece,i would like to help her change her lifestyle, can you recommend any books i can buy for her to make her understand why she is doing this to herself? or to make ME understand how to help her? she's only 14 & obese & i know she suffers and i dont know how to help her. we've talked about it a little but shes very sensitive about the topic. i just feel so bad for her & all the things shes missing out on, have never been there so cant relate, i only want to help

  • Hope my experience can be of some help. 2 years ago I lost 50 pounds, with no junk, no juice, and more exercise. But obese people, like me, have huge anxiety for foods, and can easily forget what they have eaten. So they need to be reminded of what they have eaten: a food journal. I used iPhone app “Foodpics Log”. It let me record meals quickly by taking photos, and organize everything by dates/times. It told me what I have eaten at a glance. And it prepared formatted reports for my doctor.

    instead of cookies eat fruits and berries

    the more you change to healthy foods the less you will automatically eat because most wholesome foods make you feel more full than foods that contain empty calories

    and join an exercise program that is fun and do it with friends, it makes you more motivated to keep joining

    something fun like zumba or cardio kickbox is a great way to start
