EOF is also End Of File, a programming term. Probably unintentional. And @beatchef, I agree, the description definitely channels the A-Team intro. :-)
"If you got a real weapon and know how to use it; then maybe you are good enough
to join the
Eternal Order of Fighters"
The way it's laid out and structured, that may be a parody on The A-Team intro, it's ambiguous enough that it might not be... but I'd like to think it is.
i believe only thieves can sign their name with "flourish" im not sure in the slightest bit, but im a thief and i just did it in the VGA version and it flourished it
I think every char.type gets points when talking to Rakeesh about paladins. the last time I finished the game I did it with the thief(imported from qfg1) so I searched for the saved games and did a test. I got 3 points.
The Uhura character's name in Star Trek is pronounced You-HER(or HUR)-Ah but I suppose oo-HOO-ruh is possible, seeing as they screwed with how you say 'data' too.
I love the Quest for Glory series. My fav was Shadows Of Darkness. Unfortunetly it had lots of bugs which made the game nearly impossible to continue. Theyre remaking this game by the way. Looks nice.
I believe on Star Trek, Data (the character's name) is pronounced "DAY-ta." In the real world, however, people sometimes still pronounce the word "data" as "DAH-ta," such that the "a" in the first syllable is pronounced like in "hat" or "pat." I'm not saying either one is wrong, just that Star Trek didn't seem to resolve that little pronunciation dispute.
While I like some flexibility in language (it makes for more possibilities in terms of word nuances, puns, etc.), I think this is probably another of those principles which could be carried to an extreme. :) Some people like uniformity in a language because it makes the language easier to learn and remember; again, this is something which I think should be balanced between two extremes.
Actually there was a scene in the second season where Data and the Crusher-replacement doctor have a short argument about the pronunciation. As I recall, Data thinks his name should be pronounced day-ta, regardless of how people handle the word in common use.
I guess that settles how Data's name is pronounced on the show... But still not the question of how the word is pronounced in regular usage. I say "DAY-ta," but if someone wants to pronounce it the other way, that is their choice, although of course I will have to shoot them afterward.
I'm only joking, you know. :P To have multiple pronunciations in nearly every word would be terrible. But I don't think it *could* be carried to the extreme even if you wanted it to, as it is not the nature of human language to allow it.
Hah. I tend to kid people a lot, and now I have been kidded myself; I guess I'm just too gullible. :D
Most English words have vowels, and most vowels are rather "interpretable" in their pronunciation. So I think most words could be creatively pronounced. But then, I am merely a humble engineer. =)

So a paladin is a fighter with chivalry... kind of like a knight?
gamerolled 3 years ago 4
Yes, a knight who can cast magic.

"Don't want to do a stereotype voice" - why not, you've given every other character one :-p

I guess you have a point... But I don't want to be *offensively* stereotypical. :)

"Hephalumpus Poohrobinus" is a reference to Winnie the Pooh. How random that it's in this game XD.

WHERE'S THE DAMN FLOURISH??? :(:(:(
etoileangelique324 3 years ago 4
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. Heroes who sign their names with no flourish are NO HEROES AT ALL!

You didn't read what he wrote!

I know. I was joking around!
There's also NO FLOURISH IN QFG5!!!

WTF no flourish!? I am outraged!
I think Uhura's pronounced "oo-HOO-ruh."
hercrabbiness 4 years ago
I know!! That's why I figured it was time to commit seppuku. "You sign book with no flourish?! You dishonor entire city of Shapeir!"
I'll take your word on pronouncing Uhura; I'll try saying it that way from now on.
LateBlt 4 years ago
Maybe some Star Trek would help you figure out that pronunciation.
Crowley9 4 years ago
I don't watch much Star Trek. It didn't seem to help with how people pronounce "data," though.

Well hey, those multiple pronunciations are what make language so fun. The more, the better!
