  • Comment removed

  • @Kathleen7801 Yes! that is because it is the same song, the group is called Ladysmith Black Mambazo - Mbube Wimoweh which also means the lion sleeps tonight.

  • Reminds me of Pata Pata by Miriam Mara Makeba but slower.

  • Listen to this on the drive to work and you will have a good day

  • Love this movie. I wish Zamunda was real. It to me captures the best of Africa, an alluring exotic feeling that is comparable to the tiki culture and the west's fascination with that other region Polynesia.

  • @ratedRrockstar86 sounded like this one for me, i wasn`t sure, thx ;)

  • @mellitusone ur welcome :D

  • @mellitusone The song is a version of Mbube that LadySmith Black Mambazo did for the movie, this particular version can not be found on any of their albums. But like mentioned @ratedRrockstar86, it was inspiration for The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

  • @mellitusone The name of the song is Mbube Wimoweh.

  • Man, talk about a stirring intro!

  • best intro

  • i love it.

  • That's one great song...

  • this movie is the best, I love James Earl Jones and Eddie Murphy ^_^

  • Eddie murphy was one of the very few black actors back in those days that could command a lead role

  • I wonder if the landscape they used was a scale model or African jungles for this opening.

  • @xIegionx i think it's a scale model, with a animated matt painting in the background. it looks great....even better then some visual effects nowadays.

  • @INDY223 It's really good, I didn't know Africa had a part like this, is why I wondered.

  • WORLD CUP 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This perfectly captures the excitement of and the spirit of Obama traversing across the seas into the current political sphere of this country, in order to bring an end to the world as we know it (i.e. Messianic Age). Jah bless One Love :)

  • @sublimeade so r u an your red neck skin head kkk can all sittin in your farms an woods all pissed off sayin tha N word every sec r what i would love to c that you white bitches all pissed an bitchen around your tha minorty now an always were u kno it too u cant deny it bitchboy hahahaha itz over for u

  • You know this movie is over 20 years old. And out of all this time I never really noticed a potential flaw in the title. I mean I know the title is "Coming To America", but wouldn't it have made more sense to call it "Going To America" since Eddie Murphy's character was going to America to find his bride. I don't know, it just seems that that would have made more sense.

  • Classic.

  • My favorite Eddie Murphy film! Too bad he lost his touch.

  • @Dankoyourwelcome

he doesnt need to act anymore, he does just a little standup as well. hes made his share of cash.

  • Love the intro! It´s all about the song (the best ver. of this tune too, hard to come buy. Not like the lady smith.) And to turn the paramount logo into an african landscape in the movie. Great idéa... Old but wounderfull.

  • when you hear this, you know the best movie is on and time for everyone to sit down and shut up lol

  • mp3iiiiify now lets you grab cd-quality VEVO videos and HD YouTube videos to convert into mp3s. AWESOME> google mp3iiiiify.

  • eh che eh che

  • what is the name of this song?

  • @gammamakeup Mbube, by Ladysmith Black.

  • @DrKlassick17: Well this intro actually samples "Mbube" by Solomon Popoli Linda. "Mbube" is also famous for being used in The Lion King as the sample for " The Lion Sleeps Tonight".

  • @DrKlassick17

Nah... Solomon Linda, is the closest to this ver. And thats the one who made this classic song back in 1939. However Ladysmith made a good one too.

  • @Glockad79

This version is Ladysmith performing it.

  • THIS SHOULD BE THE WORLD CUP SONG!!!

  • @BRAAILIFE - i totally agree with your comment, this film recently came on sky movies and i had exactly the same thought - this should be the world cup song:)

  • @BRAAILIFE i was partial to Pata Pata myself. But hell, I think the World Cup should be in South Africa every time

  • @BRAAILIFE this should be africa anthem, black history month anthem, and old harlem anthem this how epic this song is

  • Africa has a wonderful nature !

Too bad there is so much civil war in some parts of Africa.

  • awesome! tnxxx

  • Agreed with Scooniepenn...I wish African country is a peaceful country like this movie ^_^

Anyway this is really an awesome movie...

  • awesome intro and movie, its a shame much of Africa is a string of dangerous poverty stricken nations though.

  • What a perfect intro.

If mist on green hills had a sound, this would be it.

  • that was a deep comment <3

  • @nightswimmer99: great comment mate, you summed this music up perfectly. probably the most amazing piece of music I have ever heard in my life, it never fails to calm me, no matter how bad my day is. Ladysmith Black Mambazo have breathtaking vocal talent - truly awe inspiring. There are no words to describe the feeling this music gives you.

  • @nightswimmer99 yep, perfect intro

  • I'm sorry. I didn't understand how it worked. I tried to send 3 different replies to 3 different people. I didn't know they would all come up as comments. Honestly though, it's not spam. I'm just trying to help.

  • In response to the people who would like a copy of this song, I'm guessing that it was a special recording made for the movie. Wikipedia says that this version is not available on any album. IDK Why. However, I have a free software called YouTube Downloader that allows you to download videos from YouTube. After you download videos, you can also use this software to convert the video to an mp3 file. That's why I was looking for this video on YouTube, bc I wanted it too.

  • Thanks for posting this! I've been looking for it ages. Does anyone know what it's called or have the full version?

  • full version was never recorded but is actually Ladysmith Black Mambazo's version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight or at least the beginning of it used for the intro

  • This movie is entitled "Coming To America".

  • I have been looking for this as well. I cant believe I found it!! Do you know how to put it on an MP3 player???

  • There is a free software called YouTube Downloader that allows you to download videos off of YouTube. After you download the video, the software can convert it to an mp3 file for you. I've done it before. Just do a Yahoo! search for YouTube Downloader and there are several sites that you can download it from, including cnet.

  • I don't believe there is a full version, as I said in my comment, but you can use a free software called YouTube Downloader to download this video to your computer and then you can use the same software to convert it to an mp3 sound file. I've done it before.

  • immer wieder geil aufs neueste, gibt nen komisches gefühl wenn man auf die murpy klassiker steht, einfach hammer..

  • Nach über 20 jahren wird der song immer Besser...frage ....wer ist das?

  • after the intro song, what is the "wake up song" that "Oha" has them play. I know it's a classical piece but I can't place it.

  • @tommy3663 i'm trying to find the song too

  • Man... If I Had To Make A Soundtrack To My Life, This Would Be The Intro.... AWSOME

  • this is the best intro song ive every herd in my life..no instrument just all voices and sounds sooo freakin great..love it when i was a kid love it now

  • does anyone know the name of this song?

  • Artist is of course Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the song is actually their version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight just shortened/ remixed for use as the intro to the movie

  • ladysmith black mambazo - mbube wimoweh

  • Dieser Song is so Geil!

  • Does someone has the end of the movie? (wedding song)

  • Now that I 'm older and teaching the children this side of their ancestry my heart cries as I shed tears for the "Mother" I never knew still calling for me to come home. I have played too long in the fields of "afar-off" and she beckons me through the wind with her sweet whisper of the one word we all can relate to-LOVE. Afraid, I can never close my eyes as her every word shows me a ravaged birth right along with the faces of kings great and long past. Soon Mama- soon, I will return home.

  • The song at the beginning is actually on the rough guide to music....I think South Africa? It may be West. But in any event, it's by Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The song is Mbube Wimoweh, which is actually a primitive version of "In the Jungle"

  • Comment removed

  • This song is so touching and strong...it sort of sounds similar to Miriam Makeba's song "Mbube." Very beautiful and memorable...

  • archangel i couldn't agree more... The music gives me chills up my spine and then its always cool how it goes over the mountain and then you see this amazing landscape and feel like your in a faraway place.. traveling over the trees to this amazing castle and then get to enjoy one of the funniest movies of all time!

  • LOVE this tune

  • I had seen this many times as a kid. Saw it on Bravo last night, and as soon as I heard the intro song, I texted my friend, 'Make sure to remind me to look up the Coming to America intro song!!!'

    LOVE IT

  • A wonderffull movie, watched when I was 6 and now 21 and I still love it soo much!

  • I could watch this over and over and leave the rest of the movie alone.

  • Such beautiful music. Not to mention a great movie.

  • THANKS!!! i've been looking for this actually just had trouble searching. originally was just looking for the music and i HAVE come across it but the intro seems to be a more sped up ver of the track i found. i personally prefer this ver, also i love the music paired with the visuals it just comes off more peaceful and relaxing.

  • this is ladysmith black mombazo, just cant get a copy of this tune anywhere. they recorded this version for coming to america. its not on soundtrack album and its the best tune. what a pity

  • i know! right?! i mean, i think this one is the best version and i can't find it anywhere. also, what's the title prince akeem's wakeup alarm? the one with the violin music? does anyone know?

  • Mbube (Wimoweh) - Ladysmith Black Mambazo!!

  • That sounds just like Ladysmith Black Mambazo!

  • Comment removed

  • LOL I have heard so many variations of this song it is hard to discern. Then you have The Tokens song of the same title.

  • The people who sang the theme are very very similar to who worked with Paul Simon, or maybe the same?

  • Yes, They are the very same group that worked with Paul Simon on "Graceland".

  • :D ;) thanks
