  • This culture of not belittling the elders and seniors, though a good one, affects the integrity of our rationale as a whole. F^%k political correctness. KH is a pale better actor than SG, despite considering all differences in their opportunities, periods, audience, etc in their respective careers.

  • acting at its best!

  • i have no words, languages or nothing to comment on my cine god MR.DR.PADMASHRI.KAMALHASSAN. he is the man who is the tamil cinema's god.

  • i miss ma uncle by watchin tis vdeo...

  • After watching this scene, I've a strange feeling that most of Sivaji's directors enforced him to over-emote pbbly due to Audience reception then. He was a Natural actor too, well deserves to be compared with KH.

  • can u upload the entire film with english subtitles..please

  • excellent superbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

  • bharathan film

  • bharathan the legend director in southindia especially malayalam

  • yes we should remember bharathan, but dont compare anybordy with sivaji ganesan, the legend of acting. but is agood actor, here sivaji & illyaraja' s show.

  • though, i'm not a fan of shivaji ganesan, but his acting in this particular movie / scene & another movie "Mudhalmariyathai", i like these characters very much, he lives in this character today also.

  • @ tamilbeethoven and vaspal03: Thanks for your comments

  • @vishwas26 Hi vishwas26, I just came back to this scene (as I always do every few months) to relive my emotions....I couldn't help but shed a few tears for Sivaji. Wonderful, wonderful actor. Mesmerizing voice, AMAZING delivery, and those eyes (03:15). They are FULL of life! How did we ever not use this man to his full capacity (I mean in roles like this). Hats off to Bharathan for realizing it. Only other director who did this was Bharathiraaja in Mudal Mariyaadai.

  • one of the wonderful scenes in tamizh films.. three maestros (third of course is hidden.. just imagine this video without BGM).

I am a Kamal fan. [With due respect to his acting skills] If somebody says Kamal is best, after watching this scene, many would say... "may be not... "

I still remember Kamal saying this.. "Had Sivaji not acted in this movie... then the name of filmwould have just been 'Mahan' and not Thevar Mahan"...

Wonderful... My hats off, for 3 maestros...

  • Why nobody talking about "BHARATHAN' ONE OF THE GREATEST DIRECTOR MALAYALAM FILM INDUSTRY EVER PRODUCED.. THE CONCEPT, STORY AND DIRECTION OF THIS GREAT MOVIE IS BY LATE BHARATHAN ... HATS OFF TO HIM .. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE ....

  • Kamal And Shivaji are real great Actors , Indian Cinema ever produced ... The Music of Ilayaraja also plays a great role ... BUT WHY NOBODY TALKS ABOUT "BHARATHAN", ONE OF THE GREATEST DIRECTORS MALAYALAM FILM INDUSTRY EVER PRODUCED ... THE CONCEPT, STORY AND THE DIRECTOR OF THIS GREAT MOVIE IS BHARATHAN .... HATS OFF TO HIM ... MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE ....

  • No matter How many times I see this scene, I cry.

  • amazing scene....!!!

  • There was a 3rd character in the scene too...the Music.

  • THE LANDMARK IN INDIAN CINEMA.ONLY SHIVAJI &KAMAL CAN ONLY ACT LIKE THIS! THE BEST OF BOTH OF THEM!WHAT A CLASS SHOT,SCENE,DIALOGUE..AWESOME..........RESEMBLES LIKE A REAL RELATIONSHIP IN A FAMILY.EVLO PUGHALDAALUM....ITHU PODATHU................KAMAL IS ALWAYS THE GENIUS.............

  • Hi all, i don't who is brando but i can feel what kamal and sivaji come to say to this world. This not just a cine dialouge think where you are and what you are doing. We as an IT(Information Technology) criminals selling our country. Just think about your next generation there wont be any like kamal in cinema and thoughts, good scientists like Mr. APJ. Abdul kaalam and many others because we earn money to sell our individuality. Can any 1 come out with a software product which is globally used?

  • For your information , Marlon Brando is an italian born american actor , who did the role of Don Vito Corleone in the movie GODFATHER , that released in 1970 . Al pacino played the role of his son . We see a similar chemistry in this scene from thevarmagan .This part of the movie is indeed inspired by godfather :)

  • its not being a thevar or anyone else ,it shows you have to do something for the community or the people who love you.

  • Awesome...they are the marlon brando and al pacino of Indian cinema....

  • i cry everytime i watch this.....

even now tears are dropping on my keyboard.....

an exact conversation that i had with my father......

    i will always be a thevar....thevar magan...

  • dei bala :) its ok da :) its ok :)

  • Is there a good print of this out there somewhere? Every time I find it on the internet, it's got this camera panning back and forth to get all the action...really does a number on the eyes. =/

  • dialogue for this scene was written by kamal himself !!!!!!!!!!

  • Mm... I saw this movie recently, even though it's released pretty long ago! lol I hardly watch movies! So, Kamal bhai did act pretty well so did the man who appeared to be rougly around my age! theme of this filim that pathetic prestige issue between two brothers, caused many killings within their own families! Devar? high class caste than Brahmns? I don't about that but you all do know that these silly caste system created by these Brahmins for their own good!

  • kamil evertime hero

  • Sivaji is the greatest for ever..Brings tears at this scene.. Affection towards his people of the soil, Affection towards the country, Fatherly affection towards his son all these are brought in his facial expression. Every Tamilian misses him..

  • i dont know whos acting i should see????????

    they both r legend??????

  • I ve found a nice way to enjoy sivaji's acting. while watching him act imagine that u r watching a live stage performance. then u may suddenly feel a tranformation in ur perception. he will look more real and more persuasive. he will just grow in you. you will understand why every best actor is praising him. he one of his kind.

  • kamal is a legend

  • oh shush about kamals acting in this scene...shivaji brings tears from my eyes everytime i see this.....

funny how this scene ......makes me relate to my life....

  • bang! Kamal's art of extracting the best out of legends such as Sivaji is proven once again. With powerful screenplay and ghost direction, Kamal gets the cream out of Sivaji ganesan's caliber with a rock solid performance by himself to suppliment it. No wonder the legend Nagesh got his only national award in 1000 movies in Kamal's "Nammavar". Kamal not only knows to act great but can make others act excellent around him. That is the power of Kamal the god haasan.

  • Awesome

  • This scene is something GODFATHER 1 had missed. Sivaji is someone great in acting that even Marlon Brando said that he himself cannot act like Sivaji but Sivaji sir can act like him. And see here.... it's true.

And i have no language to comment on my Thalaivar Kamal

  • pls dont ever compare it with godfather!!!!!!

  • @thivyanphoenix I'm sick of hearing this Sivaji bullshit. Brando was a pompous fuck. Unequivocally the greatest actor-he sent an American Indian girl to accept his Oscar. From the mid 80's to 96 he was a recluse. He never let people come into his house. What Brando meant was, Sivaji is a horrible over-actor that I, Brando cannot act like him. But he occasionally acts well, at those instances he acts like me, Brando-chumma, nee Indian a poranthuta-athunala pora vara Indian actor lan Sir Mooru nu

  • @glakshmiratan ivaru america-layo perikkalayo poranthavaru ..podang ... sivaji is the greatest actor ..indian actor world best actor-a irukka koodathunnu enna sattama? india enna world-la thaane irukku ..mundam.

  • @ganesanfan -- dai lavda--nee India la poranthenu India la irukara actor lan nalla actor a

  • @glakshmiratan கழுதைக்கு தெரியுமா கற்பூர வாசனை?

  • @ganesanfan "Anyone who has declared someone else to be an idiot, a bad apple, is annoyed when it turns out in the end that he isn't."

    Friedrich Nietzsche

  • @glakshmiratan dey dubakoor..kaithey....kasmalam...what do you know about tamil cinema...sivaji...kamal. they are really great actors. the world knows about them..but think about you fucker..who knows about you..do what you know...don't give comment about others...bastard...

  • @caallmeraja -- ask your mom--she knows about me

  • @glakshmiratan you mother fucker..you ask your mother, sister, wife, daughter...they will say i am good fuker..

  • @caallmeraja -- dai thevidiya--you sound like some imbecile who earns 10,000 working in a call center--I am sick of this go around with someone of intellectual capacity

I gave an opinion--Brando is a better actor than Sivagi

    you disagree--good for you

    now fuck off

  • @glakshmiratan ah..ah...ah...ah..ha..ha..you fucking ashole..mother fucker...don't think that call center guys are cheap..

what do you think ..about yourself. pshyco...you born with silver spoon..i think u are a foriegn begger...anyway u will die like a dog..

Brando is a world famous actor. i agree...and sivaji too...don't compare them..they are unique.

first of all see the acting of sivaji and kamal...appreciate..clap and go to bed with satisfaction...don't comment like fool..

  • @thivyanphoenix do u know after seeing which movie of sivaji ganesan marlon brando said that?just curious..

  • Three legends.. Listen to the BGM as Sivaji and kamal converse.... Shivaji starts--"Indha katta ingaye...." and the BGM is mind Blowing...

  • i wud like to reiterate this... in addition to the great message (seeds, fruits, etc.) i also admire the following: Kamal says, "(ayyaa, naan indha oorukku nalladhu seivaenya...) enna nambungayyaa..." Shivaji says, "ungalathaana nambanum! vera yaaru irukkaa......." here, it makes me look at this not just as a movie dialogue in the context of this storyline but also for the world of (thamizh) cinema, for making movies with quality acting, that essentially only Kamal can be relied by Shivaji :)

  • Well said

  • vishwa i agreed with u.... its simple as that kamal after sivaji..

  • Thanks

  • exactly.

  • Thanks much.

  • @vishwas26 :::: AWESOME vid...AWESOME COMMENT

  • @goldieold: Thank you goldieold.

  • @vishwas26 Excellent comment - I never picked up the innuendo in that line! There are THREE legends in action in this scene: Sivaji whose full talent we never used in Tamil cinema (except a few great performances such as this particular scene), Kamal - who continues to redefine himself again and again, and Ilayaraja, whose mellow strings completely capture the emotion on screen! Most definitely one of the best in Tamil!

  • @vishwas26

    hi,,,

nice comment from u..I am a great fan of kamal sir

  • Two legends of India

  • best scene

  • this scene reflects our indian culture..

which cannot be found anywhere in the world..

i'm proud to say that i'm an indian.

although i'm not living in india..

hats off to this 2 legends..

  • i have no words to express the emotional feelings wen i watch this scene.I really miss my country.Every tamil and every Indian has to watch this scene who r in abroad, not to hurt the feelings but to understand n enjoy the love of our family in this busy life.

  • Words cannot describe! Two legends at their best! There are a lot to learn from this. I salute the creators of this movie!

  • This is my most fav scene..cant comments on their acting..no words to discribe.. superb performance

  • two legends ..a world class film .and a sensational scene.. Truly superb..

  • these are the marlon brando and al pacino of india.

  • always thought of sivaji as an overactor but man... the intensity of the realism that he created in this scene is so awesome.

  • my fav scenes of all tamil movies i've ever seen.. am not a fan of sivaji, but in my opinion this is the best performance ever by him.. makes me drop a tear every single time i watch it.. just amazing!

  • the two greatest actors of India in one movie together.. amazing..

  • i cry every time i watch this....reminds me of my dad.....

=*( ...... i wanna go back to india

  • i cry every time i watch this....reminds me of my dad.....

=*( ...... i wanna go back to india

  • awesome performance! Sivaji impersonates the ideal Tamil man. Full of pride and honor but the greatest affection always lies with the family!

  • The director should be congratulated for utilising Shivaji's talent sensibly.

I have not seen equivalent performances in anylanguage

  • Superb scene from Devar Magan, As Sarvanhere said I also felt Sivaji was over-acting after watched this movie only I came to know that was not his fault

  • this is what happen when Gods act. Man these guys are great.

  • i was speechles after watching this stunning performance of sivaji and Kamal. I used to criticize sivaji for overacting.. this proved me wrong. The love or affection a father has with his grown up son cannot be shot better than this. U can watch this clip any number of times.

  • sabaaash sariyana potti, adadada pramadam, pramadam

  • Many blame Sivaji for over acting. See all Sivaji's critics. Splendid work. No single second you can find overacting..

  • AMAZING ................waht a acting tamil cinemas two powerfull actors. i guess why are no any other actors like these two legends

  • i am hardcore kamal fan.. but in this scene, sivaji's natural acting is simply unbeatable!

  • there are certain things which have no words to appreciate...this is one of them

  • man you cut it off at the wrong time

    may be few more minutes

  • To me, more than any film of the late Sivaji, this one helped me understand what a great actor he was.

This 5 minute clip is a lesson on acting. The voice modulation, the pauses, the expression, the diction, the searing looks. whaaa!! I wish he had done one more film with kamal. I miss the great actor.

  • Excellent portral of father and son relationship.

  • aandavaa. there is no one to beat kamal.. not only as an actor.. his writing skills here, had brought out the best from sivaji..

  • The best 5 mins in the history of cinema making... Nadigar thilagam at his breathtaking best!!! Thanks a lot for posting!!!

  • More than the two monumental actors, this scene spoke a lot about then situation in our Land. A Brilliant potrayal, could be raved for another 12 years. Thanks bbsarav for uploading
