  • @FenrirLupus

    Blu-ray averages is about 25 mbps 1080p.

Internet media streaming is only about 5mbps 1080p.

In another words if we want high quality video/audio we still need physical media.

  • @FenrirLupus

Hard disk media comes from the Internet.

Internet HD is crappy 1080i at only 5mbps.

    Blu-ray is 1080p and 25 to 30 mbps.

Its far superior in quality to Internet streaming.

As for MRBIT10, he is talking about over bloated MPEG4 files, not AVCHD files.

Apple has to give into AVCHD because all HD camcorders are AVCHD and Apple will have to give in to Blu-ray because there is nothing that comes close to the experience of a Blu-ray, certainly not Internet streaming.

  • wow u knida sound like jonah hill.

  • You can use SwitchResX to specify a custom resolution (ie 1360x768, 1920x1080).

  • Apple Mac Mini media center?

    No blu-ray

    No AVCHD support

    No HDMI audio

  • @articsnow actually it does record and playback HD, see my other video. it also has digitial audio 5.1 out via TOSLINK. as for blue-ray, i do not own any.

  • @mrbit10

I have a huge high end media center.

It would be wasted on Internet streaming media.

Only way to fully enjoy its full potential (video/audio) is with blu-ray.

  • @articsnow The new mini now has HDMI

  • I was wondering if I could connect a mac mini to a tv using a Mini Display port to HDMI adapter and then plugging in a HDMI cable then plug in some 3.5mm speakers would the screen be on the TV and the audio come from the speakers

  • @MritalkApple i am making a video answering your question

  • Wii

  • Yes i was wondering is there any way possible that you could hook a mac mini up to a tv instead of a moniter

  • anyone know what is the background music played at the beginning? thanks

  • ok i got a big question.

Do i need an apple PC monitor to use the apple mini or can i just use any monitor?

  • no, not at all you can use your own

  • Do I need a Mac, Mini to use the Acomdata? I have one and I don't know how to use it at all! I have PC, will it read it?

  • no, it is an external hard drive really, but its formfactor is like the mac mini

  • any monitor

  • Guys, I'd like suggestions regarding NAS RAID 5 system perhaps into my Home Media Center pipeline. My Goal is:

    1) To store all my Data ie: Movies, Photo's, Docs etc onto this RAID 5 system. Q: What brand should I go for?

    2) I'd like to attach this to my home Network to play all the .mkv movies.

Can anyone suggest me what type of HDD's should I purchase to build my Home Media Center?

    Thanks A lot.

  • 1) In terms of Picture Quality how much do you loose out on connecting DVI to HDMI?

I'm going o be playing .mkv files some 720p and 1080p files, is it grainy picture using the DVI to HDMI?

    2) In Order to get Best Performace out of Mac Mini as media player, What Codec's and Audio codec's would you advice installing before hand?

    Look forward to everyones suggestions.

  • @channo786

No DVI and HDMI have virtually no difference except one carries audio (hdmi).

  • @channo786 Thats what id like to know if u find out please let me know.

  • Could somebody please tell me the name of the song at the end of this video?

  • It's called Pendulum, it's only available in GarageBand/iMovie. Only on Macs. ^^

  • Sounded like C'mon C'mon C'mon by Switchfoot :s

  • its not

  • @diegodaudt Wow you don't have to get on about it only being on macs I have four including a maxed out G5 Mac Pro running Logic Pro 9 so go easy. Thanks though.

  • lol I thought you dident have one. Your welcome!

  • i'm just looking for some device to convert my analog videos to digital w/ decent quality, especially w/out having that delayed audio problem i'm having with my pinnacle. would you recommend the tvmax+ for me?

  • im trying to hook up my mini to my new 32" 1080p vizio in my dorm room. The mini first generation. my problem: first, I had a DVI cord and bought a monster DVI to HDMI adapter and tried plugging it up. The screen would flicker on and be terrible quality then disappear, a blue screen would appear on the vizio saying "not supported". I thought it might be the DVI cord but when i ordered a DVI to HDMI cord it did the exact same thing. Can anyone help me?

  • Th resolution either isn't supported by your mac or tv, nothing to do with cables.

  • whats the 360 GB thing? please explain.

  • whats the song in the beginning?

  • It's in apple soundtrack

  • Nice to see your room? Okk....

  • hey can this even play 1080p stuff?

  • ANY computer with a fast enough CPU (Mac, Windows, or Linux) can display 1080p content. The only catch is that if you want to view 1080p at full resolution, you need a monitor with at least 1920x1080 native resolution.

And yes, the Mac mini is more than capable of displaying 1080p content.

  • the last macmini, can do it for sure

  • i got that tv :P is it 32 inch...

  • it dont look 32" :S

  • cant wait when macs have blu-ray

  • dam if they do that they r going to cost alot more it better just be like a configuration but yea it would be badass

  • @hahhahhahhahhahh

they will have it when it become the norm

  • maybe thisis old, but do you still need the analog encoder if you're using eye tv? i'm trying to create a mac mini set up and want to know what i need = thanks

  • no real reason, for the meglia i use both when I have directv hooked up and can record two inputs at the same time by having both, other than that the hybrid is the best way to go.

  • Better Graphic....

  • the media center is OS X

  • I'm planning to get a Mac Mini media center with the Dell 24" Ultrasharp monitor, with a PS3 and HDTV signal all hooked up...I hope there's a way to connect the Mac Mini to the PS3 to somehow use it as an external hard drive.

  • This is a little of the topic,

but If I were to buy the Apple TV unit, can I record Sky TV unto it, then stream the recorded material to my mac? And if so is this hard to set up?

    Many thanks!!

  • what does the mac mini do?

  • it acts as a tuner and PVR

  • the new mac mini is confirmed to use the Atom 333 processor on Nvidia's Ion platform...wouldn't this be a huge leap BACKWARDS in performance? please let me know if im missing something here.

or maybe the Ion based mac will be the "Mac Nano", lol.

  • No, ION is gonna be great (hopefully).

It will be using the same beastly integrated graphics as the unibody macbook (9400m).

The atom will be similiar in terms of performance to the currently used core 2 duo, just cheaper. (Again, hopefully)

  • The atom is NOWHERE NEAR similar in performance to the core 2, even the dual core atom.

The new mac mini's still use core 2's though, which is good.

  • You should have your mini at the top of the stack, not at the bottom

  • how much did u spent

    bout donnt couting ur tv??

  • How big is your tv, is it 1080p?

  • 720 42inch

  • Comment removed

  • All you need is an airport extreme on top of those. :)

  • awesome!

  • thanks, did you see the HD setup, my wife loves it for her Soap Operas

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but what's analog about DVI to HDMI cable? Wouldn't that be considered a digital connection?

  • just purchased a mac mini today, with an apple keyboard and mighty mouse, then also purchased a 17 inch flat panel HP monitor widescreen

  • to get a HD res. from ur mac mini why don't you use a DVI to HDMI cbl. Its a pure digital signal that will get the max res. your TV can handle, and since it is a HDTV the max res. on the mini should be about the same with the TV. to get the audio hooked up, you could get a simple 3.5mm headphone jack to analog audio they're about ten bucks. I'm about to get myslf a mini and had a simliar idea except getting a smaller tv and using it mainly as a monitor while having the tv as a bit of extra.

  • i do, see the HD mac mini media center video. Thanks for watching :)

  • I like the way you do videos. Different and professional. Nice job.

  • throw away that dvdplayer ;)

  • and that vcr jesus christ i havent seen that shit for so long

  • what is the background music?

  • standard music from imovie.

  • just about to ask the same question. Do you own any other macs?

  • cool

  • nice setup
