  • Oh the irony of this clip. Remember when they Slammy awards were first on MTV? Piper got up on stage and said he would play Sun City in South Africa. You old schoolers will know what I'm talking about.

  • I think Roddy Piper really did want black power.

  • Wow! Roddy Piper was half-black! LOL

  • @thejesman...it's a reference to "Bebe's Kids"...A popular skit from the late Robyn Harris...&...I think...At the time,an animated movie that was coming out at the time based on it...

  • I'm blackand I'm not offended. Just like virgil basically being a slave

  • rowdy piper could beat anybody's ass.

  • Bad News Brown made fun of Piper's Scottish heritage by calling his kilt a skirt and Piper made fun of Bad News in return. Both made fun of the other, typical late 80's-early 90's Piper feud. If you don't like Piper's promos and style, then don't watch him.

  • Wow. And yet still, one of my favorite wrestlers :)

  • this was awesome for the time cause this was when bad news allen or brown forget was saying piper was racist and then wrestlemania came around and he walked out in that i never forgot the look on my black friends face he looked at me and slapped me saying thank u for buying this and he has been a wrestling fan ever since.

  • I'm against political correctness and generally a big Piper fan (especially his 1980s work as a heel), but this promo isn't even entertaining.

  • Read Piper's bio sometime, he writes about black wrestlers who helped him come up through the ranks being his real fathers. It's a great book but makes this video all the sadder because it shows how promoters pushed racism.

  • For Bad News Brown it wasn’t funny, according to him he thought the whole black face angle was ridiculous and called Roddy Piper and Vince McMahon racists for doing it.

  • This guy is ART in actionpersonified.

  • who approved that segment for fuck sake! its funny but goddamn thats just bad.

  • He said I dont die, i multiply!! Maybe thats where Robin Harris (Bebe's Kids) got that from??

  • Does anyone have the video of Piper with half of his body in black paint saying he's every man's wrestler. He supposedly did that due to the fallout he got from almost causing a riot at MSG for dropping the N-bomb on some fans in the crowd.

It's plausible, considering that he called Mr. T's fans "porch monkeys" back when he was cutting promos leading to Wrestlemania I.

  • best promo ever

  • Why PIPES why?

  • Only the Hot Rod can AND still get away with this. I was rooting for Piper, anyway.

  • Uh...what?

  • RAcist

  • that looks like a fake arm lol

  • Rowdy Piper is the real deal for sure- He is legitimate in all ways, he was trained by Gene Lebelle, and owns a black belt in Judo- For those who dont know who Gene Lebelle is, look it up..

  • BLACK POWER BABY

  • Watch the movie "they live!" and be quiet!

That was the best film ever made if you know what is going on...

Piper should have an oscar for his role! Watch it if you don`t know it.

  • @ParaMedial that movie is like the best i have that movie

  • lmao Piper's the man.

  • Kinda sucks that their WM VI match ended in a double count-out...now that I think about it, Bad News Brown never really had a decent WM victory: his trophy was smashed at IV, DDQ with Duggan at V and DCO with Piper...

  • OH BOY, I PISSED OFF THE LIBERALS

  • wow, this guy was higher than MT Everest at this point

  • this is crackhead that needs a hit

  • and jake roberts was great as well

  • why is it that white people protest "white power" it's called racism, but when black people protest "black power" it's just pride for their race & not racism?

  • Uh, probably because the white power movement is filled with people who just wanna kill some minorities, while most in the black power movement only wanted equal rights?

    dipshit.

  • @Marsrox100 The black power movement was filled with people who wanted to kill white people. Ever heard of the zebra killings?

  • @Marsrox100

You're equating the black power movement simply with the civil rights movement. Might want to actually read into the history of militant black power groups as they are some of the biggest racists around.

  • @Marsrox100 _____ power movements are all about killing people for their own gains. Black power, white power, it's all the same. They're morons who simply want power and are willing to do anything for it.

  • @brocklock09 Please learn some black history so u won't make anymore ignorant comments.

  • @RandomUsername010 I would very much like you to learn some history in general before making ignorant comments. ____ Power movements are all based on ignorance, fear, anger, and hatred. White power, black power, man power, woman power, all of it. Equality is one thing, equality is good. Power is not, because power turns good people into monsters. Power corrupts, and that's a fact.

  • @brocklock09 ....ur taking the Black power movement horribly out of context. and completely denying the oppression the movement was fighting against. Get rea.

  • @brocklock09 EXCATLY. Take for example notorious misandrists the Spice Girls, who were all for "Girl Power". God knows how many men were killed just because of that hate group!

    (you're an ignorant dipshit)

  • because most of the ppl in the white power stuff actually are rascist while there is not as much rascism in the black movements since they just want their damn rights

  • @bigbobbyp2808 I completely agree dude it is bullshit...

  • @bigbobbyp2808 Because this world...especially this country....is full of hypocrites

  • @bigbobbyp2808, "White Power" is commonly associated with an ideology of superiority of one's race. Conversely, "Black Power" is commonly associated with equal rights, and on a more microscopic level, encouraging fellow Blacks to not be ashamed of who they are. This is in contrast to what they were taught by Whites for over 400 years: to be slaves, undeserving of respect, unintelligent, unequal, etc.

The phrases are consistent as far as English goes, but the context is completely different.

  • @LloydChristmas777 Can I flag this post for being liberal pseudo intellectual propaganda. Google Noel Ignatiev or Kamau Kambon to find out what multiculturalism is all about.

  • @ECWChris94, Label me whatever you want. Do what ever you like. Things still aren't equal. Deny it all you want.

  • @LloydChristmas777 How can someone be so clueless and obviously stupid and still be able to type? Seeing as you are already on youtube do a quick search of the new black panther party, and then try some more of your libturd comments. I only wish they would stop talking about it and show the balls to try and put some of that crap they spew into action, it would shut pukes like you up, wake up the white guilt ridden sheep and let us put them back in their place, where they belong.

  • @beerrunner13, You're filled with hate for blacks and hate for yourself, plus strawman arguments. When you overcome such mundane things, come back to the adult table and maybe I'll grant you a civilized debate. Until then, keep lying and crying if that makes you feel better. Cheers e-tough guy.

  • @LloydChristmas777 e-tough guy, if only you knew who you were talking to. Strawman argument, learned a new term did we? Again if only you knew what you were talking about. You will grant me anything? Talk about an arrogant know nothing little turd. I neither need to lie or cry it seems that my truth has you doing both,. Stay down there in mommy's basement it is safer for fools like yourself than the real world. You can act like you know what you are talking about, but I can see you don't

  • @bigbobbyp2808 thick fucker!

  • if i was Born a Nigger' I'D Blow my Head off.

  • Well luck for you you were hatch.

  • i have No idea what that Means?

  • @ogithreturns Babies can't use guns...

  • Raven?? haha good one

  • Only Piper and a few other wrestlers could do a promo like this.

  • Whoa..its true what they say, once you go black you never go back..

  • when piper loved cocaine

  • you need a life buddy.

  • "I don't die, I just multiply!"

    Um...what?

  • they don't make promos like this no more

  • you are a very confused individual

  • i know more about Nigs then you ever will i grew up around them Playa

  • you don't know me, brother....and I still think you're confused.

  • What the fuck did you just say? I literally cannot understand one bit of what you just typed.

  • racism has run thru piper's career. from the 'white is right' feud in the late 70's thru to this odd and not convincing bid for fan fave at wm. in a career which has been a thrill to watch, this angle was the hardest one to swallow for me.

  • if ya dont like it then why the fuck ya watch it

  • I find absolutely nothing wrong with the term 'colored'. "Colored" is a completely reasonable to describe the balck man. Otherwise what would become of the NAACP?

  • TThe Brian Kendricks mate reminds me of the late great Bad News Brown

  • I'm a Piper fan but its a shame they did'nt continue this feud cause they feared Bad News was gonna put him in the hospital.

  • I doubt piper was scared. He is a legit tough guy i know bad news is too but come on piper scared of another human being doubt it.

  • Well I guess management thought otherwise.

  • I literally laughed until tears were leaking from my eyes!!! Hot Rod kicks ass!! And people who don't think this is drop dead fuckin hilarious have a stick up their asses

  • Classic Roddy ................nuff said

  • How the hell can anyone do anything but laugh at this stuff?

  • Poor old Bad news Brown never liked this storyline

  • Rowdy Roddy Piper kicks Fuckin Ass, Roddy if you can read this, COME BACK man we miss ya...

  • I second that !00%... Piper kicks fuckin ass, and we miss him!!!! THAT...HIM... THAT was fuckin rasslin'....

  • have you seen all of his portland stuff it is on youtube now. His feuds with buddy rose are priceless.

  • man who began rascit is dumb and sucks

  • what the hell he said "i dont die i just multiply. wtf" why he say that

  • probably in reference to his previous cockroach remark.

either that or he just plain liked to fuck chicks.

  • im color blind every1 looks the same to me idoits

  • Loreal because I'm worth it.

  • I never understand the term 'colored'. White supremists use it all the time to describe minorities. Isn't white a color?

  • No Brendan, white isn't a color. Neither is black. They're shades, technically.

  • If we're going to be technical about it, ALL colors are shades. But that doesn't change my point; 'colored' is a stupid term. Actually, all colors being shades helps.

  • I agree with you, the term 'colored' is stupid. I don't like it one bit.

But it's only black and white that are shades, the rest are colors.

I was trying to help your point because I agree with you.

  • No. White contains all colours, black contains none. It is a lack of colour.

  • White contains all color of light, Black contains all teh color pigments. mix all color of paint together and you get black.

  • But this promo fucking rules!

  • White is actually the lack of color. Just saying.

  • Someone is a racist, you cheese dick , but it's not me...I was just stating a scientific fact.

  • actually white is all colors put together in the form of light.

  • White is actually the color of the backround on this youtube screen. Not the actual color of Piper's skin....just sayin

  • I recognize what the world is, but its my own view point that effects me the most. Which is why I'm not upset bout this video. This is such a small remark on a history of injustice towards people for there color. But the reason they do that i find more interest in. Divide and conquer. Could you imagine the scene of the flower power hippies stood together with the gun totting black militants? The government has law in place to control and attack all citizens, they just do it differently to whites

  • Also i don't like the termed colored but use it when people refer to Americans as Whites or Blacks. those are colors that associated with different sides of a segregated American culture. I see America as a colorless culture of choice. I really don't care about what others see or believe as long as they dont impose there belief or ignorance on me. I dont mind preconceptions, as long as you stay open to me as an individual and take time to get to know me. Race should never define who you are.

  • maybe in a perfect world, but this world is far from perfect. I've never let my color define me as person but it certainly is a great part of how I've defined myself and how it defines my walk through this world as well. I never said that you could not build your own small space in this world but realize that thats all you will have is a small space so dont be suprised when you learn that the rest of the world doesnt make sense and it would rather under value, under estimate and marginalize you

  • I don't think the problem a black minority is the problem. I think the problem is a non intelligent majority that keeps it this way. I class myself more on openess and intelligence. I would say you are also open and intelligent. this is all i really need to know about you. I don't care if your old or young, black or white. I can tell you have a good open heart and a strong intelligence. We need more people like yourself no matter the color and maybe we will start to see things change.

  • Least qualified for what. Its a game to make you think that you are under attack. Blacks are and always have been scapegoats. They create separation to play both sides against each other. To keep the differences in front of there face. Who gives a fuck about the Media we know who controls them. A man can only representative himself unless others follow that man. He can be black and half his followers are white. Does he still represent the black "race".

  • It depends on the issues he fighting for King had white followers so did Ghandi but were there whites suffering the same injustices at the same level as blacks during the civil rights movement?

  • Well it depends on who your talking about. Whites who were speaking out against the injustice could be classed as a nigger or nigger lover and get it just as bad. They could become enemies to whites for respect the rights of blacks and enemies to black just cause there white. This type of separation is what i'm against. Its more of a rich poor middle class battle than it is race battle. Its just that government has sought to keep us, as a majority, in the poor class. now its the Latinos

  • Most stereotypical comedy on TV is made to expose the extreme differences between different races in America. Races associated with the founding of certain traditions claim race culture in America. Claiming things like acting white or black. But those that present it on TV want to expose you to the extreme differences between races, which helps keep us a segregated American culture. This kind of ignorance is apart of American culture, based upon the history of blacks on American TV

  • how many people do you think actually understands that? The Boondocks is an excellent example of your analysis. I understand what Magruder's message is but I think his delivery is compromised by the fact that most people see what he casts as extreme to be totally normal thereby leaving most of his audience unphased by the message he intended to put across. Now ask yourself who owns and contriolls those networks and approves the content? Even BET is white owned and look at its content.

  • I love boondocks, and i think he is just as extreme with his white characters also. But i see alot of people that act like a Riley Freeman as teenagers and up, Black, Latin, even whites represent the same time of street mentality that Riley has. I don't think Magruder has a message as much as he making fun of common perceptions of certain types of people.

  • As a black man, if i see a black man. I don't think he represents me. Though, i realize he may effect how ignorant people see me. To say he's black and expect certain characteristics in his character is stupid. Now to say hes from the hood or suburb, or he a teenager, or he's a Muslim says a lot more about the person than what color he is. We are forced to see ourselves as one black people because our government saw us as one black people(property). Thats a horrible stigma to have and hold on to

  • then you answer me this, why is piper using black face to represent what he is obviously beilieves is an interpretation an "African American." and at that time do you think that he only came in contact with ignorant black people, oops excuse me "African Americans?"

  • I don't think of it as an interpretation of a African American, but a representation of a period in American Culture. I can't say for sure that piper was the only creative mind behind this promo, but i would agree its a bit tasteless and ignorant. But i could just as easily laugh it off than say all blacks should be offended. Its a man playing a character who is playing 2 characters. I'm sure the idea was not to represent any black people piper knew, but to make skit based upon black face

  • I disagree, with your first point, I do think its an interpretation of an african american, otherwise why would he bother to use the broken english(ebonics) that whites feel is so synonymous with African American people or for that matter why use the Black face? I will refer you to Amos and Andy, achetypes of African Americans portrayed in black face by white actors Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll. An insult is not easily laughed off when its intended to cut so deep.

  • Well when dealing with Slaves and early American blacks, you must use broken English since it was illegal to read, most blacks were illiterate. I don't agree that black face properly represents black people or African American culture. But it does represent American entertainment. Its how it was and is in America. To play a "black" on screen you can tribal African, ignorant slave, housekeeper, butler, or from the "hood". Its very recent that colored people were able to create there own.

  • this is the very reason I believe you and anyone else should be insulted and it amazes me how you can be so nonchalant about what this video represents. It even puzzles me more how you can use the term colored the way you have. Colored what if you dont mind me asking?

  • I see alot of white people who say that black people should focus on indiviualism but as individuals we remain powerless and voiceless about issues of injustices that still seem to be happening to just us and isnt the saying that a threat to one is a threat to all a viable one, or only when the power structure wants to apply it to fighting unjust wars?

  • Individualism doesn't have to mean you only focus on yourself. It means you become independent and separate yourself from the stereotypes and ignorant ideas, and choose. Also, to see yourself and all others as independent but no different from yourself, all people without bonds of the physical. But connected by love and respect for each others existence. Knowing that we are all the same at the core but separated by circumstance and choice. Humans must connect with Humans, Not colors with colors

  • not only does another black man represent you in this society but as you said, he also effects how you are perceived by this society. Have you ever noticed how white owned mainstream media makes rap culture synonymous with African-American Culture and how they choose the least qualified Individuals to speak for the entire group? You should take note of how this only happens to African-American community while at the same time we're being told to focus on being individuals. you see a game here?

  • See that's my issue, i don't want someone to see me to see a black man, a representative of black people. I just want to be seen as a MAN, a representative of my family and the people I'm connected to. Media has played a large part of shaping American culture lines. But its a Matrix. Thinking rap is black, ebonics is black. It may come or be popularized by blacks, but is as American as apple pie. The Media is only trying to make people feel different because of there color.

  • think of what you just said, you dont want people to see you as black but just as a Man. Do you honestly think that there wont be any negative prejudicial thoughts by white people the minute they SEE you? I want the same thing you do but I have to be realalistic. There is no such thing as a color blind society. and as long as the word tolerance takes the place of word acceptance and the term "Minority" still exists and we as black people still use it to refer to ourselves, nothing changes.

  • That's my point thats there personal issue. But i wont leave thing all white people are racist because that guy wanted to be a biget. I don't mind colors in society, i just don't like the fact that we should unite as blacks. I think we should unite as people that want continue the work of making color less and less important, as it serves little purpose of understanding a person outside of the stereotypes placed on that color or race.

  • Thats an admirable notion butnot a realistic one, as you and I debate to find common ground there are people in power who are plotting the demise of black people. the sterilization programs that ended in the early 80's, Tuskeegee experiment, and bombing of Tulsa,OK amid other examples in history of state sanctioned racism are things that are not easily dismissed as old sentiment in America. there are deliberate laws such as no urban dictate designed to keep blacks powerless. go research it.

  • Racism is a psychological operation to separate human beings from each other based upon physical appearance. They class skin colors together, physical features together great the idea of different types of human beings. Such as the idea that blacks were less than Human. Keeping different cultures, genders, generations, and religions. From accepting one another. Race is the weakest of these separations. Skin color does not effect your life like, your culture, gender, age, or religion.

  • I just think we should be able to laugh at how ridiculous the mindset is, than get angry over it. Its not rooted in anything solid. Its not like he educating people, or speaking on race relations to people across the nation. Roddy Piper mocks the "black face", slave mentality. The US FBI & CIA attacked Black Panthers and young leaders as the greatest enemies of the US nation, as well as preforming experimentation on college students using LSD and other drugs.

  • i cant believe there are black people on here talkin about they enjoy seein piper in black face. WHAT THE FUCK HAS THE WORLD COME TO

  • you're right man, our people have really lost it any black person thats not offended at this shit isn't sane

  • Offensive! of course hes fucking Roddy Piper he is offensive by nature. But its stupid to say that blacks should find it funny or be offended. Its about individuals, some blacks find it funny and some not so funny and some whites may find it funny and some not. Whats more important is why you find it funny. Me, i found it interesting and i respect Piper as a performer but it wasn't my favorite promo. But its classic piper hate it or love it, its Your choice. Let others be free to choose to.

  • please don't spin the individual excuse to me, I hear that all the time but whenever somethings jumps off that people like yourself thinks that we should all be united about like a war you totally forget this shit like piper pulled that does offend a large group of people. I'm sorry but I dont respect Piper

  • Its not a matter of respect its a matter of you not imposing what you believe on other people. Why think we are similar when we are the same color, when its all the same flesh? Its better to represent your culture than your color, Your color has nothing to do with who you are and what you believe in. Race is a system of separating humanity. You should look with understanding eyes not judgmental. Explain the history behind why this and why its offensive. Dont just slam blacks for finding it funny

  • I beg to differ as someone 38 whos experienced racism in its most overt form. First of all its very condecending for Piper to be in black face representing an extreme charaterization of blacks that whites created to demorally humorize blacks as uneducated bafoons, he even went further by suggesting the black portion of his charater was ignorant. its no mistaking hes representing what he thinks is BLACK culture.

  • Black is a color, African American represents a culture in America. You act like its a stretch of the imagination that at some point a black slave would sound completely ignorant in the face of sharecropper or slave owner. A lot black people i see on TV sound just as ignorant. A slave, more often than not, is an uneducated bafoon because education was illegal for them thus would make him ignorant. Its a moment it time of African American culture being made fun of.

  • Im 100% black and this shit is funny as hell pipper is tha truth

  • i 2nd that

  • I'm black...and real talk this shit is not even racist...stop being bitches and stop being Sharpton's

  • "Stop being Sharptons."

    I'm SO stealin' that one!

  • roddy piper is so cute and hot

  • I'm black, and I believe Roddy Piper is the most hilarious white man on earth next to Sam Kinnison.

  • This coming from the man who once said he would play Sun City, hahaha! Classic Hot Rod!

  • Pipers Co-star in they live was African American. Cut it out. The Rowdy One Owned this promo.

  • what difference does that make? so he had a black side man in the movie, that doesn't stop this promo from being tasteless, I'd be interested to know what he really knows about Mandella

  • big deal. you twats complain about everything. so are shemales in sideshows sexist when half their bodies look male and the other half female? the whole world's going to hell because of anti-racist-but-actually-racist-twats like you. l8r losers.

  • wtf?

  • wait, what evidence was their that he is racist?

  • Ahhh, Good Old Fashioned Race relations...

  • If You Watch Piper's DVD Born To Controversy He Says This Storyline with Bad News Brown had nothing to do with Him being Black!

  • I found this promo to be absolutely hilarious, but for him to say that it had nothing to do with him being black is abit disingenuous.

If he had been feuding with a caucasian wrestler the whole blackface routine would have fallen flat.

  • Piper DOES say there's no difference between black and white, See what he's trying to say? He even kinda praises Nelson Mandela, the man who helped end apartheid and brought democracy to the citizens of South Africa.

From what I've seen I don't think Piper's being racist. Besides, the WWF would have been sued if there was any hint of racism in this promo.

  • No it proves ur stupid for postin this comment dumbass

  • You see, Roddy got called a sharecropper by a black dude. It's just as racist to me, a guy who has never owned a slave and comes from a family who NEVER owned slaves being called that. It's fucked up to say that some guy is a slave owner JUST BECAUSE he's WHITE. Or, the guys on Dead Presidents going around in whiteface, which was funny...don't bitch about that stuff or you give it credence and power over you, remember words is words, man. Deeds is deeds.

  • I Miss Rowdy Roddy!

  • Piper and Bret Hart fought at Wrestlemania for the IC title. The match was in the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis. That was the double main event year, MachoMan vs Ric Flair for the World Championship and Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice

  • LOL... damn that guys was funny as shit

  • the people who see this as incredibly talented, creative, and hilarious are the intelligent ones. the ones who view this as racist are the morons.

  • Piper is extremely talented. I was originally offended by this piece. Then I heard the end again, and understood. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

  • Ditto! He's one of the first few non-Japanese wrestlers introduced judo techniques to pro-wrestling. FYI: Roddy's a black belter and national judo champ

  • Remember when Roddy was walking around Sunset Blvd at night with his kilt on getting into altercations with belligerant people who didn't know who he was back in the 70's? Haha.. Roddy was a lot of fun. I hope he's winning his fight with cancer.

  • this interview is great, i remember this feud. people get too sensitive over dumb stuff

  • you are so right on that note, people need to settle down and rember stickes and stones...You know, and yes it was an awesome display of flexibility and just good fun, I don't buy into any of the hate crap and all, I think if Piper would mimic you he was flattering you, you know...

  • Im sure he is upset MightySaturn5, don't forget those fishlips are so damn tough they have to attack 10 on one :)
