@krazygreen Think about some of the great wrestlers that never even got to see the title. The Million Dollar Man, Umaga, Razor Ramon, and I don't doubt there are plenty of others. It's part of why they had things like the Intercontinental title. Now, we've got an arbitrary split in the roster (Raw/Smackdown), and only one major belt in each. Tag team division's been a joke pretty much since Legion of Doom left, and Women's division lost its three top stars: Lita, Trish, and Chyna.

@krazygreen I think a large part of the degradation of pro wrestling was unavoidable. Back then, there were people that actually believed pro wrestling was real. There was a lot more mystery behind the workings of pro wrestling because the internet didn't exist. Nowadays, everyone knows everything there is to know about what goes on behind the scenes.  Not to say the talent is worth anything nowadays but you have to consider this fact too.

I couldn't agree more. They only had three belts if I am not mistaken, the Tag Team, IC and Heavyweight which placed greater value on the titles since there were so few of them. Now with two brands and titles every which a way, they don't mean as much...just like how boxing did the same thing. And of course they have a PPV it seems every other weekend which means more title defenses. I haven't watched it in years though besides reading the news on sites. It is beyond garbage now.

If Yokozuna dropped from 700 to 450 or less, he would still be here. I do blame Vince for forcing him to gain that weight. When he was Great Kokina, he weighed 430 lbs.
