Thankyou, your video was a great help at diff stages of my 318 build, one note, not to offend, think lotsa lube on the cam to intermediate shaft gear would be a great idea, thumbs up on the vid!!! And the cam bolt washer thats cupped goes opposite of the fuel pump eccentric, cant really tell by the pic on my pos pc, but researched it, thanks again, Curt
At 1;45 in there is a pic of the front of engine, showing timing chain and fuel pump eccentric, the cam bolt is installed with the cup shaped washer with the cup facing inward, is that correct!!!!? if anyone knows the answer to this one plz let me know, im to that stage of my build and do not know wich way the cup should face, Not the eccentric but the cam bolt washer that is cup shaped? plz help!!
Hello, the correct position of the cam bolt washer is exactly as you see on the video at 1:45. For more information, check Mopar Muscle Magazine Site for 318 small block budget build part 2. Thanks.
@lmiozzo Thankyou very much!!!! Will find that article for sure, also got some help from my son on how to navigate around on here, and found the book on how to hot rod the small block la mopar, Again thankyou buddy!!!!!
nevermind.....figured out its just and inspection hole for in front of the flywheel. I was worrying about nothing....i just want to get this truck going again and dont want to run into anymore hurdles.....wishful thinking probably..lol.
hey i got a question.....at the 0:35 mark in the vid there is a hole at the back corner of the block almost parallel with the oil pump mount what is that hole for? I noticed it on my 318 engine today and sorta freaked out since i did not notice it before...i can see right up inside of it.....whats it for? should it be plugged or or blocked off or something?

This might be a stupid question but how did you get the timing sprocket on and off the cam? I got an aftermarket and is press fit i think.
