Oh btw Mustachman5, Intellect and Spell Power are like the magic version of Strength and Attack Power. Strength increases your Attack Power which does the majority of your damage so you stack Str gems and enchants and not since Wrath is AP a main stat built into tier armor and weapon sets.

I recently switched out my Demo spec for Afflic but when I go into BG's I often switch off between the two and I would like to know first off which is better for DPSing as well as stat priorities, rotation, gemming, reforging, etc. So i'll know whether or not I have to have two different sets of gear specifically for Destro and Afflic. Please make one if you have not already and if it's in response to this comment I would appretiate a response so i'll know to look for the video

Okay so i have been playing warlock now for a year so i basically know a LOT there is to know about locks, yet what i'm wondering is if i should use felhunter now or the succubus because the felhunter got buffed right. Another thing , i currently only use affliction for pvp because well i only get up to 12k dps in randoms on bosses on affliction and on my destro spec i get up to 19-20k so im wondering what am i doing wrong? im doing pretty much the same thing that you said in your video.

Just saw this. Awesome guide. I had affliction down for a bit, however my DPS was very low. Was able to gather enough information in this video to get a good rotation. I was able incorporate a drain life / soulburn macro to use every so often on top of shadowbolt.

In the end, following most of what he said, I was able to get a good 1500 DPS increase.

Great guide, I've been playing affliction since toc days and there isn't anything you stated that I don't agree with. Also, it seems a lot of people don't realize that Haunt also does direct dmg. Thats why you want to cast it whenever it comes off cd, while also refreshing the debuff.

Succubus's lash is on a global cd, Felhunters bite has a 6 sec cd. While the bite does more, Succy hits faster + the glyph makes it hit a lot harder. From what I have seen, Aff will pull ahead in 4.1

My question is, why the succubus instead of the felhunter? Felhunter's bite dmg gets a multiplier for dots on target as well as Demon Soul with the felhunter being specifically for affliction damage?

that fel dog is the best choice for dps and the bitch is for pvp onley.

also, you don't use haunt wenever it's off cd. you just always need to keep it on.

and you do get glyph of fear.

@karel34567 - Sorry but this is wrong for a few reasons.

Firstly the Felhunter is a very poor pet at the moment. This is why you see buffs in 4.1 that will make it the pet of choice for Affliction.

Haunt should also be used on cooldown in almost all cases because of the travel time - maintaining Haunt on your target is your #1 priority so casting it on cooldown assures that this happens.

As for glyph of fear - I agree that it is useful in 5-mans - but in raids it's nearly worthless.

@karel34567 Right on. I just make sure Haunt doesn't drop off. Only thing I let drop off is Bane of Agony. Haunt is getting a big damage buff in 4.1. In fact, affliction itself is getting a 5% dmg buff with the passive talent you get for being afflic.

I just wanna say that i have played all 3 builds and honestly aflit rocks, because it has a survival instint much more "alive" than the others. In my guild we are making raids with 3 locks, one of each spec and with similar gear (mine has a bit lower item level than them)...and i making top dps very easly, im also tired of earing that aflit is pvp spec, my guess is that....

if i were u i would add a rotation of affliction in a heroic dummy and also i would have the recount to show the max dps done during the your dps run down :P

@UltiSephi Doing a rotation on a dummy doesn't actually show you much and affliction in particular does horrible DPS against a single dummy target (they have great ramp up damage but that doesn't happen on a dummy). A damage recount of an entire instance/raid however, would be pretty awesome to see.

Love the videos. What's the advantage of casting Unstable Affliction on individual mobs after a Seed of Corruption AoE? Wouldn't it be better to cast an instant spell on each mob (Agony, perhaps)?

EJ was previously suggesting Imp for all three specs because of the change to DS:Imp, it was far superior to the old version. However, Blizzard fixed an issue where the Succubus' crit was not scaling properly, putting her in the spot as the best pet for Aff/Demo again. So EJ's previous suggestions were based off a combination of the two.

@mkl88t - At this moment, Destruction is indeed the best dps spec; however, the difference between the three specs isn't that big. If your guild doesn't need you to go with a particular spec - you should raid with the spec that you are most comfortable with and enjoy using.

@MaanaWoW Ok, I getcha. I've been Destruction since before Cata launched so it didn't really affect me either way, but most of the locks in my guild come to me for info so I just want to make sure I'm current.

Also, I would recommend covering Demonology next. Since Destro is the top DPS spec ATM, I feel like it should be saved for last. It might be cool to cover a pet-tanking/soloing spec at some point for people trying to farm for mounts or legendaries.
