Ali was involved with the Black Muslims who killed a lot of opponents managers etc. Liston was scared for his life so possibly threw it.
To back it up Ali vs Liston II was the lowest ever attendence for a Heavyweight Title Fight, and this record still stands. People feared that the Black Muslims, whom Ali was part of would possibly commit an act of terror such as a bombing, at the venue.

Why would Liston throw is fights with Ali? As far as I know Liston had only lost 1 fight before the fight with Ali! It just doesn't add up, because one might ask themselves; why would this guy only throw fights that had Ali involved against him? in the movie "Facing Ali" (that I recommend ya to see =P) they show when Sonny's cornerman apply something near Liston's eye to cure him and then Sonny rub his face in Ali's eye to blind him, he had succed so he started to punch ali in that round but then Bundini or another dude clean Ali's eyes to able him to see and then he send Liston to heaven, so he got him in seventh =P

@LEGENDPURGE There is no doubt that Ali had something in his eyes during part of that fight and he had to stay on the back foot until his vision cleared. He isn't the only one to accuse Liston of putting some kind of chemical that stings the eyes on his gloves. Floyd Patterson might have been the other one. Angelo Dundee, Ali's trainer said that he took a swab of whatever it was from Ali's eye and put it in his own eye and it created a burning sensation.

@LEGENDPURGE people didn't like Liston because rumors painted him as a mob boxer. He was no more connected to the mob as Rocky Marciano, he just hit him in the eye really hard. Even Ali spoke against those rumors. He said later on he was a fine boxer and one of the hardest hitters he ever faced. And if he had to choose who scared him the most in the ring it was Liston because the way he snarled when he threw a punch. George may had the power but Liston had the attitude of a mean slugger.
