Not trying to revive his friend. Cats are smart enough to understand what death is. He is just mourning in a cat way. Kneading reminds them of kitten-hood when they kneaded their mothers teat for milk. A very comforting time for them so they will knead and purr at times to comfort themselves when feeling pain. That is their way of doing things.

@pazsion I didn't mean to sound like the cat was OK with his dead friend. Cats are known to do this behavior when they are hurting because it reminds them of happy times. So they think "I do this stuff when I feel good and I don't feel good right now so maybe if I do these things everything will get better and I won't feel so depressed and everything will be OK." This is a very sad cat in this video and I feel compassion for him/her.
