Every adult individual in the US should be donating at least $2000 a year directly to the poor. That's what I do. And it's incredibly easy. I only make $10,000 a year, but hell, I've got a house, a computer, a TV, enough food to make me fat, and it certainly isn't due to any effort from me. I'm just lucky. Fuck greed. I am a white girl who was in foster care most of my life so I know that there are others whites and races who live in poverty and are homeless. Also, I am taking a sociology class in college right now, so I know that the reality is that most poor people are white. I know that sounds strange, because that's what I thought when I read it, since its seems to be the other way around, but its true.
@RUPERTDOUGLAS90 Most of the U.S. population consists of white people, so when you look at the percentage of those who are homeless, it actually ends up being more than the amount of blacks compared to the entire population in America. Once they explained that in the book of people who research these things, it made sense, so hopefully it does for you too. But a lot of them are more priveleged in the middle and rich classes, simply because they are white, just so you know I'm not denying that.

I could be wrong but why can't some of these homeless get together and do as the hippies did in the 60's ? Get out of town and start a commune. They could grow their own food and build commune lodges, etc. Does anyone know the answer to this problem? We can't let people to sleep on the streets and starve. It breaks my heart to see what is happening. I am 70yrs. old and I have a garden and grow veggies. Seems to me it could be done. I'm sure someone would donate a piece of land and a few dollars.

If the govt used a 1/4 of that money to "help" people in poverty then more people would go INTO poverty in order to receive that help. Teary-eyed interviews are very nice and all, but the US govt ALREADY helps these people out so much that it simply doesn't pay for them to get a steady job, and THAT is why they are unemployed for years on end. Life in the US is easy. I'm currently living under the "poverty" line and I'm perfectly fine with it. We don't need anyone's help.

The second mistake they make is studying it alone, where you are more prone to illogically assume the meaning of the scriptures. That’s how it gets all twisted, as I realized on my own one day a few years back and is PRECISELY why I asked for a free Bible study so I make sure I understand correctly, since I don’t know everything yet.

My 15YO nephew is really obsessed by Harry Potter- worryingly, he just won’t grow out of it.
Last month he actually went into a really dodgy, deprived area of the city & started incanting ‘spells’ to- as he put it- “drive out the filthy demons of poverty, drugs and alcoholism”. He was arrested just in time to avoid a serious beatdown from the locals.

I could be wrong but why can't some of these homeless get together and do as the hippies did in the 60's ? Get out of town and start a commune. They could grow their own food and build commune lodges, etc. Does anyone know the answer to this problem? We can't let people to sleep on the streets and starve. It breaks my heart to see what is happening. I am 70yrs. old and I have a garden and grow veggies. Seems to me it could be done. I'm sure someone would donate a piece of land and a few dollars.

The U.S. Department of Defense expenditures for fiscal year 2009 are $651.2 billion dollars. Yet U.S can`t spend a quarter of that money to help its own citizien out of poverty? These are people that use to work and pay their taxes. It appears the U.S military is the biggest employer in the U.S.

If the govt used a 1/4 of that money to "help" people in poverty then more people would go INTO poverty in order to receive that help. Teary-eyed interviews are very nice and all, but the US govt ALREADY helps these people out so much that it simply doesn't pay for them to get a steady job, and THAT is why they are unemployed for years on end. Life in the US is easy. I'm currently living under the "poverty" line and I'm perfectly fine with it. We don't need anyone's help.

And the stuff is coming to be worst: Yes, the US is coming out of a economical crisis, but with a high level of mechanization of job places.
Jobs to people who have a higher specialization level will appear in good amount, but jobs that need medium or low specialization (medium or low specialization = people who studied only to the end of high school or less, or don’t have a specialized technical skillfull) are going to vanish year by year due mechanization which are walking at fast steps.
