Yup. He totally dodges the question. He's saying, "you won't FIND an example, because you would have to go into the past to find what an animal used to be. You can't take something you see walking around today and show where it's genetic complexity has increased, because you can't grab what that animal was in the past." Basically, I could take what he just said, and use that to PROVE evolution is a faith-based concept. If I cannot see it in action, too bad. I have to have faith that it is.

The problem with evolution as a scientific theory is this: it is unobservable (unless you've got a few million years up your sleeve...maybe God could observe it...). In this sense, any evidence for it in the fossil record is indirect, and arguably, even 'unscientific'.
I've noticed in his debates and lectures (esp. the one he did in Lynchburg, VA) that he tends to avoid questions a lot. His answers sometimes are either restatements of a question or an avoidance altogether. Though I disagree with Dawkins (I am a Christian pastor) I DO respect Dawkins, and I wish he wouldn't do that so much.

A modern day bee looks exactly like a 65 million year old bee encapsulated in amber. The oldest fossils of insects trapped in amber look like the same insects today. The most ancient fossils of camels, horses, and other mammals look like present day mammals. The ancient coelocanth fish looks like the present day coelocanth fish.

It is a tough and in depth question but one he should have been able to answer given his profession and his iron clad beliefs.
His answer was inadequate. A simple 'there is no recorded case of this yet' would have been an honest and embarrassing answer.

yeah, he really does just skip the question and start blabbing. at the same time though, i'm pretty sure his initial pause was just trying to figure out what the heck the person was asking him. asking him on the spot for a specific mutation or process that adds information to the genome is kind of tough to answer off the top of your head (if it's possible at all). still, yes, it's funny to watch him go "durrrr"

What I said is, you can't get something from nothing. We couldn't have originated from nothing. That is the proof of God's existence. He says there's no evidence, even though it's all around us, and in our documented past. He says Atheism is based upon logic and reason. When he says there's no evidence, clearly it isn't.

A modern day bee looks exactly like a 65 million year old bee encapsulated in amber. The oldest fossils of insects trapped in amber look like the same insects today. The most ancient fossils of camels, horses, and other mammals look like present day mammals. The ancient coelocanth fish looks like the present day coelocanth fish.

I actually feel a bit sorry for him... His face is flushed and you can see the "despair" in his eyes as he struggles for a "logical" answer. Please don't mistake my comment as ridicule because I actually did feel sorry for him. Random mutation is also virtually impossible. Mutations are rare. They happen on average about once in every 10 million duplications of the DNA molecule (107, a one followed by 7 zeroes)
