this dude is so cool and funny at the same time. i love how i can just sit back and laugh while actually learning something that you can make really complicated with a little bit of thinking. im subscribeing and definetely watching more!!!
Dear Randy, when playing do you always count 1 e and a 2 etc in your head? Cause I don't and i have some problems with triplets in a 4/4 beat. Any suggestions?
Randy, I'm an audio production student at the Art Institute of Las Vegas, and I'm just now getting into classes where I need to mic things for studio recording. I was wondering how you like mic your drumset??
and I've seen all of your lessons and have your DVD and you're awesome! Keep it up!
Hey randy, I was trying this beat out, and my high hats are really pissing me off. I guess i never really noticed it before cause i didn't stomp on the high hat too much. I'm not sure if i can explain to easily.. but they don't catch well enough sort of, if i barely lift up on the pedal, there's a little bit of space that the clutch moves before the cymbals do, i'm not sure if a new stand would fix it, or if there is any adjustments to fix it. Hope i was clear enough on the problem. Thanks, Jon.
Absolutely. Huge influence too. A dude in college turned me on to them. I got to drive up to N.J and see them tho :(. Me and my friends in D.C. loved em. Still do. After I posted, I actually found move over bacon used on amazon. The power of google.
@dwshetler I turned scgr 1,2 and 3 into mp3s. Hope your cd sounds better then my boom box mastering. I captured them a bit too hot. PM me if ya want em.
hi rvp can u please make me a video on the double hand crossover because i want 2 learn so i can do it like neil peart and i really no u can teach me and u probably can teach me the best
dont listen 2 that idiot because hes jealous that he cant play a fraction as good as u and ur also by far the best you tube drummer as ur also as good as neil peart and buddy rich definitely
I think hes serious...I don't notice shit though...haha good drummer, Been learning alot from you. i got that little Foot stomp on hi hat and then close down from you good
Awesome lesson, as always, but one question - when playing the fill, wouldn't whacking your hi-hat with the left hand be easier? It's probably harder since you're doing a double, but it's definitely easier then getting your right hand across the kit in an eighth-note period.
The expression at 6:50 is priceless... Mr vP, I really enjoy your videos, they give me new ideas for drumming all the time. Also, I don't think you speak too fast at all, so please, just keep up the good work. I look forward to the lessons too, they could be very cool. Take care!
Would love to see a lesson on how to tune the drums, my drums sounds crap compared to yours! Im not playing on any beginner drumset here, so its frustrating not to be able to get the full sound out of my drums. :(
I have looked through comments trying to figure this out but I give up..I know you just said your hats and ride are 10 years old but they sound great what kind are the hats? They look like they may be old A Zildjians but I can't tell for sure.
You sir are nothing more than a thief. I have already given you money for a DVD that is not yet in my hands and you are still trying to suck more cash out of me. What is the world coming to? Oh btw I am with the few people who say the volume could be turned up a notch. The sound of the set is awesome just maybe a touch louder.
I would disagree. I haven't found a better sounding drum kit. Besides... you can't get better hardware since they are made in the motorcycle shop. Although... I am still a fan of Ludwig Classics!!!
Have you tried the pearl masterworks series... hand built for you :) where i have lessons they have one, and i played it .. it was like i went to heaven :) .. but yes my son, ludwigs are excellent.. i recently sold on ebay my john bohnam ludwig which he signed.. so im looking for a new kit :).. i was thinking of sonor .. ?
The master is back. I am a beginner and I have seen Mike J videos as well as yours. Yours are more detailed for beginners because you present the technique slowly. I have learned tons with your videos, thank you for your efforts.

It's been a long time building. I didn't buy it all at once so it is pretty hard to put a price on it. My hats and ride are about 10 yrs old. Hard to say what they would cost now. RVP
