If he'd have had a neck injury that small movement could have potentially severed his spinal cord among other things.

I fully agree that this is a cheap shot, and thus should be eliminated from the game altogether. But one must remember that he did it to a Flyer, so it doesn't require any action whatsoever, because Flyers are a complete embarrassment to the game and sports in general. Anyone who puts on that uniform should be considered a complete waste of time. Chelios should receive no reprimand and this type of thing should be encouraged against anyone wearing that ugly uniform.

you are jus simply to leave the person alone until a trained person gets there. if there is no one trained near by, then you have to try and do something, but in this case, the trainer was right there... So technically, the player should have the left the helmet on, and the trainer would've done the critical interventions when it was necessary
I remember talking to Chris 2 weeks or so after this happened. He told me that all he remembers was picking the puck up in the corner, and being out before he hit the ice.

@turfwerks1 its a hit to the head, thats the thing. a tough strong player can take a clean hit. a clean hit is determined by strength, but a hit to the head is unavoidable no matter who you are. if you take a hit to the head, theres gonna be some damage. i got hit to the head last night, and now i have a concussion. the guy jumped, broke my visor and cut my cheek, i was out for like a minute on the ice. that shouldnt be part of the game.

Looks like Hartnell's play on Campbell in Game 5. The point of this video is what ? Chelios is a thug and the Fliers are clean players? Give me a break. like all the "tough guys" say..."this is ice hockey..play hard or quit". Chelios ALWAYS played hard. That's why he was the top defenseman in the league ( 3 Norris Trophies ) and won three Stanley Cups. At this point in his career Pronger couldn't carry this guys jock. I'm all for the big CLEAN hits. Hartnalls hit is arguable for a clean/dirty hit.. I think it's just a big hit (i'm a flyers fan so I'm a bit biased maybe).. but there is no way you can possibly argue this was clean.. It's a direct blind side leading toward the head along the boards..

I fully agree that this is a cheap shot, and thus should be eliminated from the game altogether. But one must remember that he did it to a Flyer, so it doesn't require any action whatsoever, because Flyers are a complete embarrassment to the game and sports in general. Anyone who puts on that uniform should be considered a complete waste of time. Chelios should receive no reprimand and this type of thing should be encouraged against anyone wearing that ugly uniform.

Check the YouTube video of Larry Robinson putting Gary Dornhoffer through the boards in game one - they could have given the Habs the Cup at that moment...it was all over. Does this clear things up ?

you are jus simply to leave the person alone until a trained person gets there. if there is no one trained near by, then you have to try and do something, but in this case, the trainer was right there... So technically, the player should have the left the helmet on, and the trainer would've done the critical interventions when it was necessary
