I'm 16 and a recent below knee amputee (car accident). And from personal experience...the only thing worse than the physical pain of the amputation...is the emotional pain i feel when i forget my left foot is gone...all this time I've taken being normal 4 granted.

President Obama is telling the American Diabetic Public, that they have a choice, to maintain a healthy lifestyle and exercise , even massage therapy to prevent the pain and hundreds of billions that go into medical expenditures for preventable disease.

Poor circulation is associated with diabetes. The whole purpose of the circulatory system is to nourish your cells with oxygen and nutrients. When your circulation is poor your cells starve and do not function properly. In diabetes, the first sign is pain in your toes. This poor circulation get progressively worse.

If this was due to diabetes, this amputation was competly preventable with diet and exercise, exercise, exercise and foot massages which improves the circulation to the cells of the foot, to maintain the healing process in this area. That literally means there are times in this mortal world, where people get sick and die, and a choice is presented in which one must decide between keeping either one or the other. They are not in contact with an open wound anymore, so sterile technique (that's the term) is unnecessary. I know this from my experience volunteering for three years at an OR in FL.

i feel really sorry to amputee people. last night i was watching an australian hospital show called all saints and there was a car accident and a lady's knees were stuck under the dash board and they couldnt get her out so they had to amputate on site. i cried it was so sad then that night i had a dream that i became amputated. i woke up crying it seemed so real i looked down at my legs to notice they were still there and i was hugging them closly. it is so sad.

i used to have dreams where i was struggling with a poacher up high in a hot air balloon, he was trying to cut off my legs half way up my lower legs and sell it like a monkey's paw on the black market. i wake up(still in the dream) and notice my shoes are bloody and take off my shoes, i have stumps. then i wake up for real with a drenched cold sweat. mind you i was 7. now thats sad.
