I enjoyed the animated LOTR movies as a kid and i read the LOTR books in the early 90's at 12 and they ruled my world, PJ's LOTR movies are the most truthful and faithful to Tolkein's vision.
@Johnlindsey289 A lot of people say that they think Bakshi's version is for faithful, but I think that's not true at all. Sure, he stayed close to the book in terms of what events were shown and how some of the characters were portrayed, but there were just so many things that he got completely wrong. Samwise is the best example of how much Bakshi didn't really "get" Lord of the Rings.
@Mooseboy018 Respectfully do you think Jackson got it better? Because I will not argue about Sam, but Faramir, Denethor, Theoden, Even Aragorn, are they not enough lose for you? or the fact that the somehow dark end of the book get's derezzed in it's vision...
@DDevospartan Adaptions will always have changes (good or bad), but overall Peter Jackson's was much truer to the book and a much better as a film in general. I think Aragorn and Faramir are more interesting in the film, but they kind of had to be. I didn't mind the changes to Theoden, but I do have to admit that they went a little too far with Denethor. For example, not including his palantir was a mistake, but at the same time I really enjoyed him in the movie anyway.
@Mooseboy018 aragorn was reversed and his pride was turned into fear for who he is. the fact that he doesn't get narsil until halfway in the last movie is extremely unsatisfying to watch imo.
boromir was fine..faramir was awful in pj's movies. I mean what the hell?
merry and pippin were dumbed down, and frodo lacked the courage he had in the books.
I could go on and on, but I think this will set my point that pj strayed to much to what he himself wanted
@tarkeke At least they acknowledged Narsil being reforged.
It's just magically reforged at the Gates of Moria in Ralph Bakshi's version. He does stay closer to the book in a lot of ways, but it's such a sloppy film in general that it's painful for me to watch.
@Mooseboy018 . Taking on the job of animating such a long and massive tale with restricted resources and budget leaves me unworthy of calling it sloppy =P I don't know...I just love the artstyle and atmosphere in the movie so much..people see things differently I suppose
@tarkeke I know they didn't have the highest budget, but that doesn't change the fact that the second half of the movie was sloppy in some places, especially visually towards the end. Having good intentions and the excuse of a low budget doesn't make the orcs and Rohirrim look any less out of place.
@tarkeke Yes, Jackson did not get LOTR since he wanted it to make a character journey for Faramir and Aragorn but they meant to be ideals not mere characters, the film version may be good as a movie but it certainly makes no justice as an adaptation.
@DDevospartan And I think the movie's ending was more satisfying than the book's in some ways. I love the scouring of the Shire, but it just wouldn't have worked in the movie.
@Mooseboy018 Well I would be a little fool to want the scouring in there, but what worries me is how much it changes the whole feeling, you know the final words in the silmarillion I think they resume Tolkien's work spirit very well; I know changes has to be done and for example I do not mind the elves or some of the Rohan stuff, but throwing Frodo into the mix of Gollum dance for me breaks the meaning of it all (The ring destroyed itself via Gollum's madness)
@Mooseboy018 they would have needed an entire movie for that rofl. all the stuff happening in rivendel afterwards, the journey home is so long in the book
Great trailer! About halfway through I was wondering why the characters voices were so close the non animated movies and then I read the description. Haha :)
Absolutely well done, you put a lot of work in making it and it shows. I remember watching the movie when I was older (sometime in the 90s, after reading the books) and I always thought something sort of: Well, at least Frodo and Legolas do look okay, but the others: gah....."
It's good that at last the video I have been waiting for has been uploaded.

@Mooseboy018 the last part of the movie was not good, I agree to that.
I was mainly talking about until boromir is killed by the orcs

I think he's in one or two shots. He's the guy with the big brown beard and the viking helmet. Looks nothing like Boromir should look.
