Valkyrie Profile makes an awesome game for religious nord references, Both one an two. That and it comes coupled with my personal favorite vilain of all time, one that you would never see coming if you only played the first. Just my 2 cents.
looking at your vidoe i would recomend some game you may or may not know!
thift 2 - a stealthy act game that give a feeling of hiding in shadow and assassin victoms really fun!
Brink- the custombilty in the game is so much i am still eting items...but once you have them all you can make any look you like! just talk a look see what i mean...
age of mythologys - this game bring age of empires with monster and can help if you like ledgence and myth in past times
my personal opinuen is good open games! games that give more then one ending and can always be diffrents also enjoy things like strategy and stelf and if they ever made a huge open world game that let's you do everything you dreamed I would buy it!....I also enjoy the little hidden easter eggs or secrets in games! from myths for a quick flash of a charictor doing something funny like flying around in the sewers to something just plain secret and also wounder why you put them there!
I really like strategy games where you can assemble your own team. Etrian Oddysey had this in that you could pick a name, class and a portrait for each character in your guild. (four portraits, two for each gender made it a little bit low, but it was definitely nice)
The disgaea series takes this to an extremely high level. My strongest character in Phantom Brave (the one that hits the hardest) is a healer. Who fights with a vase. How much more customisation do you want? Your team is unique.
Now I know I am gonna get flamed for doing this but I actually like cutscenes and a prize for beating a boss other than getting to move on. The cutscenes are probably what people will hate but some cutscenes are good like in call of duty there are some good cutscenes a.k.a the times you can only look around. I may get flamed for getting a prize for beating a boss but it's nice. Legend of Zelda does it well where every boss you get a heart container. That does it there so this is the end. Byee...
instead of christian mythology, how about one that uses good references to the bible, has a main character that represents himself to it, devotes himself to do good with it, not have that whole church feel stick too strong to it, have combat similar to that of Devil May Cry and Bleach, and have great character backstory and an original bit of development as it goes on?
character customization = ALWAYS awesome. i agree with for oblivion, and then theres some mods that allow a TON more customization, even story customization for the side quests AKA guilds
You know, I can't help but a gree withnearly every statment I hear in this video, though I never played Gauntlet it sounds like a fun game, if nobody minds I would like to know what system(s) it's available on.
@Joshscorcher If you like furtivity missions. You should play the ps2 version of Harry Potter and the prisoner of Askaban. There were that many furtivity missions I don't want to see 1 ever again.
If you like co-op, you should play battletoads. You will love it.
@ReaperP13 Valhalla is often used with no context to the nordic mythology, very often it doesn't even exist in Asgård. I haven't seen any references to nordic mythology in Skyrim, could you name some?
@Qsdd0 like i said i was being very general when i said nordic, as for asgard, thats what sovngard is, the hall of valor is valhalla, the rest is more viking references
@Qsdd0 now the viking ones ive notced are mainly popular conceptions, like the horned helmet, which is bullshit, and pretty stupid too, then everyone drinks mead, the natives are nords
@Qsdd0 also the northern lights are in the game, so i know most of this is not mythology, which is why i simply said nordic, oh and also the high king that was killed was named Hrothgar
@ReaperP13 Skyrim would still not be a good choice for nordic MYTHOLOGY (which was what he said). Do you see Balder's (I'm using the danish names, since i don't know the english ones) death? Loke hanging under the snake? Tor riding on his goat ride killing Jætter/jøtunn? Do you see Odin sacrificing his eye to Mimer? Do you see Odin on his throne sending out his wolves and ravens? No, you don't. He was looking for norse mythology, and he won't get the amount he deserves in Skyrim.
There's a pretty fun game on Wii called Muramasa: The Demon Blade. It's got good hack-and-slash gameplay, awesome Japanese art style and mythological references, you have two different characters to play through the game with, over 100 swords you can forge, amazing and mostly HUGE bosses, special areas where you can battle hordes of enemies, and three different types of difficulties (the third difficulty basically makes you play through the whole game WITH ONLY 1 HIT POINT)! Try it out.
Many of the things you listed including: Co-Op, Pyrokinesis, cartoony art style, potential for assassination (or somewhat stylized violence), and many weak enemies are present in League of Legends, Heros of Newerth, Defense of the Ancients, and some similar games. Just a type of game you might consider if you haven't tried them before.
10) that sounds about right. i bet you like playing as the pyro XD 9)i agree, i like the toony versions of zelda like spirit tracks. 8) oh yeah!! 7) Mm...sometimes. 6) oh yeah! again! 5) those are great too. 4) oh yeah, i agree with you on the spy. 3) yeah, those are cool. 2) totally agree 1) agree 100%
@joshscorcher Even though this games doesn't have really any traits on this list ( Except prehaps somewhat cartoony artstyle ) I think you should play inFamous. I think you would really like and it has some parts in it and its sequel that could be in future top tens. It has a somewhat cartoony artstyle during play, but more in the cutscenes is it visible. Also depends on what you see as cartoony. So, play it.
hey josh have you ever played any of the tales of series.it has a lot content. a cartoony art style and it has Co-Op. plus the music is excellent music

@joshscorcher Customs with decent Gameplay, Aion Online, Rift. Coop with decent gameplay: Tales of the Abyss, Killing Floor. Cartoony with decent mechanics: S4 League, Battlefield Heroes. Flashy: Bayonetta, Prototype.
Another cool music battle that I've seen is for the game "tim burtons oogies revenge" for ps2. Fiery joker please get the game and tell me what you think
Josh, you should play League of Legends if you like working with a team. It requires you to work with others, specifically 4 others, to defeat other players doing the same thing.
Seriously sir, the best co-op game you could get is probably Payday: The Heist. It is a purely team based game, where working together doesn't help, it is a complete 100% neccesity. Thumbs up so Josh sees this.
Madworld has: Stylized violence. Cartoony art. References to vampirism( kinda christian when you think about it). Musical battles (the music freakin' makes the game). Numerously weak enemies. Thumbs up so JS can see this.
I know 2 games you'll just love: brink and tribes: ascend. In tribes, every class can easily reach 100 mph, and the game only has multiplayer. In brink, you can freerun through different obstacles and actually do pretty awesome kills. Let's just say that sliding while holding up your gun with one hand slaughtering everybody is just the beginning.
Having watched the lists of things you both hate and like, I am surprised you like Devil May Cry at all. It has lots of backtracking through parts you have already completed and fighting the same boss a bunch of times. And you say you enjoy left for dead and killing zombies but you hate survival missions. I am not trying to be a dick but it is odd that you praise games that you either do not like elements of. Just saying.
Halo referencing Norse mythology? I guess... Between MJOLNIR and GUNGNIR armors, you have a couple nods to Norse weapons, but I don't see links beyond that. IMO, Halo 3 follows the King Arthur myth closer than Norse legend. But hey, I'm not the critic here.
But I agree 100% with co-op. I'll take a fleshed-out co-op over multiplayer any day.
I've actually got 3 games for you. for a cartoony art style, i suggest XII for the xbox, ps2, and gamecube. For assassination stealth games, try sniper elite for pc, xbox, ps2, and gamecube. And for multiple enemies, i would highly recommend legacy of kain blood omen 2 for the xbox, ps2, pc and gamecube.
If you like co-op in a game, you don't expect to be good, try Ratchet Deadlocked/Gladiator. Nothing beats sitting down with a buddy and do this game. Even if your buddy sucks, you can still beat the game, since there are just 10 seconds of respawn time, You only fail the missions if you both die within the same 10 seconds, or get too far away from eachother for too long.
One thing that I really do like about your videos is that you use a good amount of Final Fantasy VI and IX music with them, which happen to be my favorite (IX being my favorite Final Fantasy)
I see you enjoy gamess that make you feel powerful. May I suggest DC Universe Online, which not only has a sort of arcade beat-em-up feel with combos and powerful attacks, but it also allows you a variety of ways to customize, battle, various rolls to fill from crowd control, healing, dealing damage and tanking, As well as 'Leagues', PvP, and a whole lot of other stuff, DCUO's one of my preferred MMOs due to what you get. Best of all: It's Free to play!
Please....If this is all you like about video games, and since you also talked about what you hate in video games...well here is my suggestion, take your consoles, take your games, sell them all and stop playing video games forever!
You kind of people are the reason that people don't get along. You cannot comprehend things like tastes or opinions. You are afraid of people different from you, so you think they must be wrong, beneath you, or evil.
You need to seriously rethink your life pal. If you think that just because you say someone should stop doing what they love you have another thing coming. Who are you to judge who plays games?
And this isn't ALL I like about video games. It is a Top Ten, Sherlock.
While Mr. Fiery Joker here may not like Okami for personal reasons, he cannot deny that his viewpoint is subjective. Objectively, Okami received praise from a majority of the gaming populace who played it, thus Okami is an Objectively Good game.
F-Zero GX...why does this game not get enough attention??????? It is INSANELY fast, very challenging, and is IMO, the best racing game ever made. It may not be the best in multiplayer, but if your playing solo, you will have one hell of a time!
Heh, I know this is a relatively older vid, but... well, I can name two games that, while far from perfect, being earlier Playstation 2 games, do deliver in the "Assassination Stealth" for you to try out, Joker. But... it's more of an in-game necessity.
The Mark of Kri and its sequel, Rise of the Kasai.
Cartoony art style : MW3, Numerous weak enemies: MW3, Doing the job no one wants :MW3, Assasination stealth: Camping in MW3 .........Funny how that works.
whats the game at 1:43? You've got a point, Musical Battles can be a good way to make a fight better, and can be a great way to distinguish it from the rest of the battles in the game, and I have to admit, it does feel awesome to just use super powerful attacks and kill a room of enemies in one attack, but just having alot of weak enemies that dont pose a Threat all the time is lame, so long as its in moderation its cool
Sorry for double post, but one thing I forgot to comment about.... fire powers are definitely my favorite. In a toss up between kinetic manipulation and fire powers, while kinetic would be cool, I would definitely go for the fire powers.
Oh character creation... how I wish more games would have it and KEEP it. The only part I could get myself into doing of rpg maker? Character creation. Everything else... just bored me when trying to make it. This is coming from a guy who is writing novels because he wants to.
@4LackOfaBetterNam3 I dont know off the top of my head, but Angels are commonly used. Bayonetta also comes to mind but im not sure how much of it is Christian.
If you like mythology in games, I'd recommend the Persona (3 and 4) games. (They're actually part of the SMT series, but I haven't played the others so I can't give a fair opinion on them). Basically, they're what happens when you take mythology, pokemon, final fantasy, a dating sim, jung psychology, and philosophy and put them in a blender.
Unless long game hours and lots of grinding are deal breakers for you. Then ignore this.
Hey Joshscorcher, I think 'American McGee's Alice' has both a cartoony art style and stylized violence. I haven't actually played it, but it looks pretty good.
Oddly enough, my number one joy in video games is also my number 1 hatred in video games: QTE. Done badly, which is most of the time, it feels like I'm watching a movie that has interactivity. BUT, if its done right, it feels like a satisfying way to encourage of just how unbelievably powerful, large or in general just OOMPH something is.
I would disagree with #1. Mainly due to the fact that there are some games where I'm FORCED to play cooperatively and I might not want to, and some games where I would LOVE a Co-op feature and it doesn't have one.
One thing I both hate and like about games is numerous strong enemies. Take, D&D for example, a level one quest has you beat two level 4 monsters...AT THE SAME TIME. I hate that, but, when you defeat numerous strong enemies it gives you a sense of achievment.
Which PS: for this list: Okami isn't a "cartoony" art style, its meant to look like a rice paper painting come to life. Basically the game is (Uber-Japanese) using a Shinto goddess, ancient imagry and monsters, along with a very old art style animated.
I love you for the numerous references back to tf2, and for a cartoony style i would've put Psychonauts up there

By far my favorite co-op game for the PS2!

@NashTheBlade

The Mark of Kri and its sequel, Rise of the Kasai.

whats the game at 1:43? You've got a point, Musical Battles can be a good way to make a fight better, and can be a great way to distinguish it from the rest of the battles in the game, and I have to admit, it does feel awesome to just use super powerful attacks and kill a room of enemies in one attack, but just having alot of weak enemies that dont pose a Threat all the time is lame, so long as its in moderation its cool

Then ignore this.
animeotaku307 1 month ago
I have a feeling you'd like Brutal Legend. Cartoonish graphics, Real music played in the background (heavy Metal mostly). It's a fun-ass game.

Oddly enough, my number one joy in video games is also my number 1 hatred in video games: QTE. Done badly, which is most of the time, it feels like I'm watching a movie that has interactivity. BUT, if its done right, it feels like a satisfying way to encourage of just how unbelievably powerful, large or in general just OOMPH something is.
masterofdoom5000 1 month ago
when i saw what was #1, i thought in my mind: FUCK YEAH.
effomy 1 month ago
I would disagree with #1. Mainly due to the fact that there are some games where I'm FORCED to play cooperatively and I might not want to, and some games where I would LOVE a Co-op feature and it doesn't have one.

One thing I both hate and like about games is numerous strong enemies. Take, D&D for example, a level one quest has you beat two level 4 monsters...AT THE SAME TIME. I hate that, but, when you defeat numerous strong enemies it gives you a sense of achievment.

@Thespritenumbertwo
I believe the term is "shove down our throats"
Which PS: for this list: Okami isn't a "cartoony" art style, its meant to look like a rice paper painting come to life. Basically the game is (Uber-Japanese) using a Shinto goddess, ancient imagry and monsters, along with a very old art style animated.
