  • Would this film get made today? In my humble view, Lonely Are the Brave is as much about the end of the American frontier as it is about a loner's search to live his individual life as he sees fit; the tensions between individual freedom and the common good. Question is: can that tension be resolved. If so, does the individual fare better than the collective or vice versa? The ambiguous ending reflects the open-ended nature of the question.

  • Thank you Mr. Douglas and Mr. Abbey. A lot of people don't get our types, but you did.

  • You hit the nail right on the head greenstboy!

  • This scene is probably the most moving movie scene for me personally that I've ever seen. When I see it I think about my own lost love, the love I had hoped for, the love that might have been...all along knowing it never could be......And I think about my ride someday to the top of that hill....and when it will come...who I'll think of....and why....

  • Lonely Are the Brave---------a great movie, a great actor, and a great character. The individual vs. society theme never better done! Thanks for the posts
