what do I do if my dog won't STAY sitting. I'm so frustrated with my yorkie. He sits for 5 seconds and then he pops right back up. I never reward him when he stands up before I can give him the treat.
Bait is usually what it is referred to during conformation, not necessarily obedience or agility training. In this case, you LURE the dog. In conformation, you would BAIT the dog.
Yes, of course. :) Somewhere in the video I did say that you should fade the treat/lure as soon as possible and jsut use voice commands, then treating and rewarding. Eventually, the dog will n longer need a treat reward for every time it sits.
I Love it, I cant wait until I buy a dog!, you are an AWESOME teacher, now I know how to sit, I mean how to teach a dog to sit :), Nice video Thanks for sharing =]
And it is something I will try to remember in future videos.
I think also part of the reason I was even less consistent with my markers than usual was because Marq already knew the command, so I wasn't worrying about the marker.. But, considering this is a training video, I SHOULD have! ;)
So, for anyone taking the time to read the comments, Bandit is RIGHT. :)
Yes, of course. My markers are not consistent with Marq, but that is because after trying clicker training, I realized it was not the markers that he was paying attention to, but instead just my praise/happy voice. He actually dislikes clickers. And I've had the same results with trying to stay consistent with a "yes" than if I were to just say "good!" "Yes!" "woohoo!"
BUT, I definitely recommend others to DO stay consistent with their markers. :)

NIce, it really helps.
With smaller dogs a little more patience is needed, like with a pug! But it works.

Just make sure you don't stop rewarding it too early. Very nice demonstration.
