the law suit was filed BEFORE the conviction and sentencing. Plus, bell is NOT serving his time. He's already been allowed out and into the custody of a foster parent even though he still has 15 to 16 months on an 18 month sentence for his PRIOR crimes, plus about 8 months (to run concurrently) for the Jena 6 crime. Not to mention that his lawyers have publicly stated that they did not recieve a dime from him despite hundreds of thousands being donated to the defendants.

Whites were responsible for ending slavery and are the people that had the various civil rights acts passed. I'm not in any way trying to take away from brave blacks who risked life and limb to stand up for their rights against great obstacles, but the fact is that countless whites in this country were/are against slavery and against inhumane treatment of blacks.

They face aggravated assault. You call it a "school fight", but that implies that 2 sides were fighting. That is not true. It was a sneak attack in front of dozens of witnesses. Let more than 6 people (most of whom are legally adults and many of whom have long criminal records including multiple violent offenses) knock your child out from behind and kick him while he was helpless, sending him to the hospital with a concussion and blurred vision and see if you think it is a "school fight".

That IS what the noose hangers got except they had evaluations, counseling, & were to make apologies instead of community service.
Only the white guy who started the fight at the party got a misdemeanor.
Barker is still waiting on the money after hundreds of thousands have been given to his attackers.
All 4 of the Jena 6 "adults" still face aggravated assault. Bell (who was 2 weeks short of a legal adult) got 18 months, much of it spent w/ foster parents & going to school in the day.

The attackers of the Jena 6 incident never claimed (before, after, nor during) that the nooses had anything to do with the attack.
The connection between the events was made by an independent activist AFTER the students were charged for the Jena 6 attack.

Civil suits are very common, and considering that Mychal Bell, the guy who threw the first blow and has an AWFUL record is recieveing VERY light punishment (and they made THOUSANDS off of the donation money) a civil suit is not a stretch at all.The others have yet to be tried at all.

the law suit was filed BEFORE the conviction and sentencing. Plus, bell is NOT serving his time. He's already been allowed out and into the custody of a foster parent even though he still has 15 to 16 months on an 18 month sentence for his PRIOR crimes, plus about 8 months (to run concurrently) for the Jena 6 crime. Not to mention that his lawyers have publicly stated that they did not recieve a dime from him despite hundreds of thousands being donated to the defendants.
