I think its important to have an idea, that expresses something to god about god, music is not a sermon, it is emotion, creativity and individuality are what make a song good. The "message" is irrelevant. A song that is formulaic and written with everything spelled out for you does not force you to seek out the truth for yourself, this is how the holy spirit speaks to us through his word, it should also be how we speak to each other through song.

This is a great song. Not just lyrically and musically which is unfortanetley what most people look at music today for, but it also contains an amazing message.
Musicians should learn from him not to sing about sex and drugs all the time.

You could have a great message set to boring music and a lot of Christians would give it high ratings for its intent, but practically speaking, a lot of people would tune out. On the other hand, you could have awesome music but express your message poorly, and it would probably also fail. You can't separate one from the other. Both must be done well. KMax is an artist who tends to succeed at both.
