The Redblock ran for 24 years. The Rover V8 was around from 1961 in it's original Buick 215 guise through to 2001, exactly 40 years.

If you did your reaserach you'd know that the Rover V8 block formed the basis of the Repco-Brabham F1 engine, which one the F1 championship in 1967 and 1968.

The Rover V8 also won the BTCC championship in 1984.

TVR, Marcos, Morgan and MG have all used the Rover V8.

To imply the Rover V8 isn't durable or tunable is lunacy. It's one of the all time greats.

It was originally the Buick/Oldsmobile 215, but it was dropped by GM as the alloy block was too expensive for an American market. Plus the trade unions which ran the foundries demanded that the work went to iron casting, not alloy casting plants.

Subsequently GM tried to buy it back from Rover.
