Playing the Tabernacle Organ was one of my father's dreams for me. I hope one day to fulfill that dream when I get the opportunity to visit Temple Square again. I started taking organ lessons after a visit to the Tabernacle in 1965 or 1966 to listen while the Tabernacle organist at that time practiced. It was on a Thursday morning. Since that time, I have played organs and pianos for LDS congregations throughout the world during my mission and military service.
..manually entering the reeds - the 8' and the 16' stops to give this hymn more body towards the end.
Just think - in the olden days before couplers, pistons and toe studs, there was a person on each side of the playdeck that would change the stops when cued on the music itself.
Mormon Tabernacle Organ I have played But the People are so Protective about the organ People stand over u watching your every move. It put me off for going back over there to play that Organ.
THey have too. In our watd, the organs mutations dont work because someone with a key has been getting in it and messing up EVERYTHING. ANd that thing is so old, it wouldnt take much to break it.
eh, they messed with the pistons too much. I never use them, because that person messes with them so much you never know that it ill osund like, so i set it myself, and it sounds better in my opinion, not to boast too much. : )
Yeah, it MUST be AGO specific. The young man wearing the black jacked helping with the different stops is much taller than the heighth of the console. I would say the console stands up to about 49 inches, if I'm correct.

Really? The times i've played, they kind of give a overview of the pistons then, let me be. I wouldn't let that put you off for playing it
