Funnily enough Bob wrote this song in 1972 straight after the Wailers signed a contract with Chris Blackwell and Island Records. The deal was done Island Records offices in Basing Street, Notting Hill, London. It is thought the line "how many rivers do we have to cross/before we can meet the boss?" refers to Blackwell.
