the reason they dont sound real is because these pro sponsors dont know how to set up the damn response curves of the pads... the sensitivity needs to be brought way down so you dont get max velocity hits.. which sound like a machine gun when you do a roll.... you need to make sure the pad settings are tweaked to your playing style and I have never seen any of these pro videos where they really took the time to do this.. its ridiculous.

@emilshere be sure: I did everything I could on my kit - for years, before I decided to change to a ROMpler. Like heaven! The problem is the staticness of the sounds, nothing else.

2 Modules: TD12+20: $2000 4 Kick Pads: $2500 7 Cymbals/HiHat: $2000 Rack and stuffs $1000 4 Big Pads $1500 4 Smaller Pads  $1200 4 Small Pads $1000 And all the extras like the two soundpads, basspedals and mixing stuff are worth more than a few thousand $ as well. Makes this set worth at least $15000! Thats one way to spend you money! I would love to have this set :D

Even the famous sponsors dont know how to tune their electronic pads... the sensitivity is way too high and you get these max velocity hits on the tom rolls that sound like machine gun garbage... you must turn the sens way down so you never get a max 127 velocity hit.. or very rarely and never twice in a row. The default settings are way off and they dont change them.

Stupid thing is, these kits aren't built for this. I own a TD4, and have used a TD20, but they're only really useful for practicing on or if you need certain sounds for recording, since they are quite compact. They just don't compare to an acoustic kit live, but cost like at least 2x more.

If only ROLAND would focus on making the sound "real" (by automatically making subtle changes with each hit) instead of providing thousands of modifiations to a virtual drum that nobody needs...! Realism should be the biggest concern. The sounds still sound static and ridiculously artificial. I know it - I own a ROLAND kit.

@TheNextEpisodes I did. You are absolutely right. I did not compare to other ROMplers though, but SD is simply amazing. Could not believe a e-kit can sound that real. I play it via my Roland-kit, some more lag, but absolutely tolerable. Best decision in the past years.

I am not at all impressed with this guy. His basses are unsteady as my old grandma, his drumming isn't 'tight', it's just not good. I bet he's training 4 hours a day to do double bass strokes but speed is not what good drumming is about. The 'performance' is 2 minutes underway as I type this, and so far all he had to do is hit a steady backing rhytm. And still he fails.

Thomas Lang is my icon if you know what I mean I love Drums and Percussion My favorite Drum Kits are Roland V Drums and Yamaha Drums I also like Pro-Mark drumsticks and Vic Firth Sticks If asked me I think Lang is right up there with Joey and Neil.

@cristoMurray321 Neil Peart owned all of his time, but now adays he is just an old influence from peoples childhoods. Look at Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang, Mike Mangini, Gavin Harrison. Neil Peart is too old and drummers now have so far surpassed what made Neil Peart amazing back in his prime.
