Wow you people are so smart. YOU knew it wasn't osmosis and obviously he didn't right? This certainly isnt a physics trick but pretty cool nonetheless. Doesn't involve any pulling of the string. Actually, you have to let it go;)
0:36 "Is is osmosis" - I hope that wasn't a serious suggestion by the guy. He would therefore be assuming that the coin is rising due to the movement of water through a partially permeable membrane from an area of a high concentration of water molecule to a lower concentration.
Which I can't see how it can be applied to the movement of the coin up an elastic band....
It explains the phenomenom of why my underpants defy the laws of gravity and end up in my ass crack...
During the average day , I bend over and stand up hundreds of times.
Causing the elastic waistband of my underpants to twist ..and pull my underpants upward towards my ass crack....Eventually they become totally uncomfortable to wear .
DUH DIPSHITS IT'S MAGIC...now if you'll excuse me I gotta get back to hogwarts professor dumledore is teaching us how to make rabbits come out our asses.
Did this guys just say Osmosis? is he stupid? Osmosis involves water and water only.. to think that shitload of people wouldnt know what Osmosis is ..doesnt juts give u the right to put complicated words randomly like that..
Elastic band is longer than what u think and he is slowly releasing tension with bottom hand, decompressing the band and making the coin appear to move when it has actually been on same spot of band the whole time
@1337frog No, I mean you must make the audience focus to the coin, so they can't notice your upper hand moves. And when you did this with cam, you must zoom to your lower hand and focus to the coin. Right? :D
Then what if u kinda letting go of the rubber band? The band will contract to its original form. Since its rubber, it has lots of friction that can hold the coin. This is a simple physics
@FunkenDK well, it IS physics, it's called friction (that allows the coin to 'stick' to the band and not just succumb to gravity). but, yeah, you're right, nothing special.
@stuckurface nope, there is no such twisting. all you have to do is take a piece of lets say broken rubber band, hold it at a reasonable angle, hold excess in the hand at the bottom, slowly release the excess, and gravity will be countered by friction.
man look at the band closley it has a spiral around it through the whole string it works like a screw all he has to do is put the string in between the coin an twist the string little by little since the inside of the coin is square the coin will climb on one of its edges like a bolt to a screw...(EASY!! OWNED THIS TRICK!!!)
=_= lol no he is not "stretching" it little by little.
When he started, he had some extra elastic band in his right hand, the one below, and he kept the distance between the two hands the same, but slowly left the extra into the stretched string, making the coin go up with it. if you see carefully, you can see his right fingers slightly vibrating and moving cause he is letting the elastic go little by little. =]
@dwbowyer what the.... how is that gonna work, well ok maybe that's another "method" for this to work but trust me, in this one, he's using the method i said :/
Notice, he is just stretching it little at a time, so you DONT notice the stretching and only notice the coin moving. thats why it 'moves-up' the band. kinda hard to explain but its obvious
Nice Video. I really really liked your video, youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed check out this site called tubeviews . net It has really done wonders for me, I have build 3 channels up with videos at top in position and this is my forth channel i'm going to working on now.

Nope. Try it yourself with a broken rubber band and a washer/key ring!
Hold Excess in the bottom hand, hold it at a reasonable angle and slowly release the excess

ashole right after the coin its a node , and u pool the rope up , up ....moron

@scratchfacemoh wrong, but Close enough...
It is rubbery elastic, not rope, btw. I dare you to TRY that with rope. it wont work.

hes streatching the band, the coin isnt moving, the string is getting longer.

ok u guys are dumb at physics: heres the idea
What does the ruber band do if you pull it
It will expand right?
Then what if u kinda letting go of the rubber band? The band will contract to its original form. Since its rubber, it has lots of friction that can hold the coin. This is a simple physics
sherwin070 9 months ago
you twist it so the grooves push the coin up, i figured this out at 21 seconds!

@1337frog what i think it is is that it doesn't show his other hand which is twisting the band.

Nope. A screw is an example of an inclined plane. He is TWISTING the band, to create grooves.

its an elastic band. its already stretched and he's slowly releasing it.the coins not moving jus the elastic contracting.
