  • I live on the Northwest coast of Washington state. I was witness to at least 1000 crows flying in a vortex pattern killing one of there own. This happened right above my house. the sound of it brought me and my roommate out. The bird they killed was a juvenile with blue eyes...I assumed it was diseased because the only other solution was it might of been social. After the death(which the bird feel dead in my driveway) they all collected in these 100ft high clump of trees, the trees were black.

  • dude, thats freaking awesome. more that i saw, but what i saw was a murder huddled in a field about 1x0.5 miles long. you couldn't even see the ground. it's rly quite a sight to see and hear such a large amount of birds that for some reason or another are often tied in with negativity. Though I'm quite fond of Crows and Ravens. They're really lovely birds, and quite intelligent.

  • Nice video, I life close to Berlin and I can tell you these are crows.

During dawn and especially the last hours of daylight they form floks. Also they nest in groups and feed in groups, ravens on the other hand are less common and more solitairy.

  • If you google "crows roosting" you can find a Cornell site which explains the phenomenon :)

  • Wow. That's an incredible video. I love watching birds, but I've never seen anything like that. X

  • That looks SO cool! I think you are right, they are crows rather than ravens. Be nice to them. Crows have been observed making tools and have been proven to recognize faces so you want to be friendly with them. Clearly they out number you!
