  • This song is so awesome. Just discovered these guys a few weeks ago. Which is a bit weird but still. Awesome band.

  • @thegranitebison Glad you stumbled across them!

  • what an amazing song! but i cant find it anywhere.not even on Itunes.

  • Lol... One of the tags is "Tentacles"?

  • whoever disliked this is gettin beat until they know what good music is

  • I think The Melvins get treated alot like how The Ramones got treated.

  • buzzo mustaine? haha shit

  • The Melvins are awesome. They deserve honors that a lot of more popular bands have been bestowed with. Grunge/sludge is a very beautiful style of music, in that it has a dark undertone, but often a very upbeat aspect to it as well. It comes off to me a being rather "neutral" or "grey".

  • badass song! think you could try mailing me it? :)

  • awesome! hey man, could you mail me the song?

  • they played this perfectly live...

  • amazing!!!!

  • best melvins song

  • buzz sounds a bit like dave mustaine... rofl...

don´t hate me.. i love the melvins!!!

  • @Hamsun79 LOL, I was thinking in the same shit

  • @Hamsun79 He really DOES sound like Dave Mustaine. XD

  • @TheBMCTelevision You mean Dave Mustaine sounds like Him. XD

  • ok thanks alot!

  • what is tuning for this? this sounds so epically d-tuned and is that a fuzz effect? sry for the noobish questions im new to learning to play guitar.

  • Hey no worries,

Actually it is just in standard tuning! It's just the way they play it that makes it sound different.

  • I didn't believe you, so I watched live 1984 version of this song...

...and you were right - he started with a power chord E6 string fourth fret. I have to apologise you.

Amazing effect in amazing song by amazing band!

  • @ibanezmancons shit sounds fuckin perfect

  • fuzz effected? its called distortion dude haha

  • i know this is kind of late but, if you want this type of tone in distortion, you should get an Electo-Harmonix Big Muff Pi. the American one is definetly fuzzier than the Russian one.

  • I have the Sovtek version...I like it!

  • @ibanezmancons

    hey I love the melvins!

could you possibly e-mail this song to me too?

  • @Nomanisrdy you could buy it...

  • one of my favorite Melvins songs!

I play this when I soundcheck my guitar (this and some Husker Du songs)!! thanks for posting this track off the mangled demos.

  • This was effectively the first "grunge" song ever written, in that it adhered to the style and was written by a band that was part of what later became the grunge community. Oh Lord, what did they start?

  • @profstampede perhaps its hard to say cuz Green River was around at the same time as the Mevins making very similar music so its debatable

  • @NirvanaNerd364 No, this song was recorded in '83 and Green River formed in '84 (didn't release anything until '85 either)

  • @aerocmetallica1995 Huh.No kidding thanks for the clear up.but hey they werent really trying to be grunge this sounds pretty metal to me also you mite think this is stupid but the first real grunge song woud be by Bush cuz they were actually TRYING to be grunge you know?

  • @NirvanaNerd364 Actually, I do see the reasoning behind declaring Bush the first real grunge band since they tried so hard to be a grunge group (sometimes succeeded, sometimes didn't :P); after all, Melvins, Nirvana, etc., never really considered themselves "grunge."

  • @profstampede im pretty grunge started with a band called green river, though they broke up and one of the members went to form mudhoney, but grunge was definetely in affect before nirvana. dont get me wrong i love nirvana but they were influenced by melvins for sure

  • @MrPsyKOlogical I'm sure you're very pretty :3 <3

  • yeah, thanks for that one.Have you posted all the mangled demos?

  • thank you so much for posting it!

    I'll never beat you

And so I bang my head.

I'm poundin the walls and I see red

    I bang my head

Well I'm biding my time until I'm dead

    AWESOME!!!

  • oh my god this fucking rocks

  • grunge rock b4 nirvana melvins rule

  • Hey can you do me a favor and post the radio apperence of If You Get Bored? Thanks!

  • buzz and lukin and dillard used to get piss drunk and throw molotov cocktails around the abandoned nuke plant in montesano, which probably means shithole, washington hahahahahah fucking hate it here hahahaha

  • @Somersxe Do you live there?
