  • We're doing this for a music at our school

  • Awesome!

  • Ewwww their Nietzche does it down the octave

  • This seems kind of slow compared to the pace my theatre group is doing it at, but I still like it. The argument is clear and wonderful :) You have some talented singers.

  • my school is doing this for our school musical and ours has this song, from what it sounds like we are doing the rivival one. its a good musical. i am in the chorus and i am so excited about performing it.

  • I'm Gibbon :)

  • Where are Stephen and David? Didn't Stephen have an introductory speech before Gilmer's first line?

  • Depends on which production you're doing. This production was the 1977 version. There is also a revival production that came out close to 2000.

  • The 1977 libretto has Stephen-Jesus having a line before Gilmer McCormick.

  • @JGCooney As a matter of fact we did have the Jesus line (the one that opens the show, right? speaking as God?) but I don't think we considered it part of the song. You can actually hear it in the "trailer" Hallwaypro made for this production

  • i sing the martin luther part as well. but i do it in a low bass! :)

  • oh btw, that is a small stage

  • I suppose you guys were going for a more serious way of doing this song. My theatre group, CINCINNATI YOUNG PEOPLE'S THEATRE, did this show this summer. It just ended. The song was of a more humurous approach to this song

  • i'm aquinas and it's sooooo fun!

  • Socrates for the win! :D

  • This is good. I am doing this production also. But, i'm sorry for being rude, but everyone has weird noses.

  • i love this part soo much. :D

    i get to be Socrates.

  • hahaha.

i sing the god almighty has made our rulers mad part. i'm soprano 2! any other sopranos?

    soprano one or two?

  • i was DAVINCI!! anybody?

  • I was DAVINCI!! :) and I sang the second verse and chorus of Beautiful City

  • For the prologue, I've been cast as Martin Luther.

  • i wish everyone could sing a bit better.

  • My school is doing Godspell this year, and I have to memorize the Aquinas part for the group part at the end. I'm in chorus, and we got divided up to sing with the different Prologue soloists. Quite tough to learn, but fun to sing!

  • IM GIBBON IN THIS SONG

  • I'M GIBBON TOO!

  • God is apprehended by imagination, intuition, reason, touch, opinion, sense, and name, and so on, while on quite the other hand, we find we can't begin to understand them so to some it seems a shame to go on. lol I love singing that part. Our school's doing godspell this year as well.

  • so good. i was Socrates in my college's production. took me forever to learn the speaking part. :D

  • i am doing this play in school. I got the part of Socrates (the 1st one) lol

  • "God is apprehended by imagination, intuition..." that's the part i'm doing in my church's version of Godspell!!! :D (also duet with my sister in all for the best and solo for we beseech thee!)

  • very nice! About the only copy of this on youtube with decent audio quality :)

  • were doing this performance @ skool nd i don't know some of the words to this song cause my music teacher is rubbish nd lost all of the sheets :(

  • bravo!

  • I was in Godspell recently...I wish we had done Tower of Babble!

  • Some productions unfortunately don't have strong enough singers to cover 'Tower Of Babble'. That's usually a director's choice. I've also seen productions that included 'City of God' which is from the 2000 revival version of the musical. Godspell is always a good show to be a part of expecially when each production is unique. When it works, it works. Keep up the good work.

  • really? i didnt even know there was a song called city of god i thought it was beautiful city! idkkkk! ill look into that! im doing this show now, im judas :-)

  • Thanks for clearing up the confusion. The song is 'Beautiful City'. :-) I hope you experience the joy that comes from being part of a cast that truly enjoys what they're doing like I was. Of course I've heard of other casts that weren't too successfull in that area. You'll know pretty soon when you're in such a cast. Good luck with the show.

  • in that area? what area?

  • this is really good....my high school is doing Godspell, i <3 godspell! bravo!

  • this is soooo good!! it really gives me an idea of the overall view of this musical.... we are just starting Godspell as well!

  • awesome! we started working on this today :]

  • One of the BEST actually.

  • This is one of the better versions of this song I've seen.
