This seems kind of slow compared to the pace my theatre group is doing it at, but I still like it. The argument is clear and wonderful :) You have some talented singers.
my school is doing this for our school musical and ours has this song, from what it sounds like we are doing the rivival one. its a good musical. i am in the chorus and i am so excited about performing it.
@JGCooney As a matter of fact we did have the Jesus line (the one that opens the show, right? speaking as God?) but I don't think we considered it part of the song. You can actually hear it in the "trailer" Hallwaypro made for this production
I suppose you guys were going for a more serious way of doing this song. My theatre group, CINCINNATI YOUNG PEOPLE'S THEATRE, did this show this summer. It just ended. The song was of a more humurous approach to this song
My school is doing Godspell this year, and I have to memorize the Aquinas part for the group part at the end. I'm in chorus, and we got divided up to sing with the different Prologue soloists. Quite tough to learn, but fun to sing!
God is apprehended by imagination, intuition, reason, touch, opinion, sense, and name, and so on, while on quite the other hand, we find we can't begin to understand them so to some it seems a shame to go on. lol I love singing that part. Our school's doing godspell this year as well.
"God is apprehended by imagination, intuition..." that's the part i'm doing in my church's version of Godspell!!! :D (also duet with my sister in all for the best and solo for we beseech thee!)
Some productions unfortunately don't have strong enough singers to cover 'Tower Of Babble'. That's usually a director's choice. I've also seen productions that included 'City of God' which is from the 2000 revival version of the musical. Godspell is always a good show to be a part of expecially when each production is unique. When it works, it works. Keep up the good work.
really? i didnt even know there was a song called city of god i thought it was beautiful city! idkkkk! ill look into that! im doing this show now, im judas :-)
Thanks for clearing up the confusion. The song is 'Beautiful City'. :-) I hope you experience the joy that comes from being part of a cast that truly enjoys what they're doing like I was. Of course I've heard of other casts that weren't too successfull in that area. You'll know pretty soon when you're in such a cast. Good luck with the show.
We're doing this for a music at our school

Where are Stephen and David? Didn't Stephen have an introductory speech before Gilmer's first line?
JGCooney 2 years ago
Depends on which production you're doing. This production was the 1977 version. There is also a revival production that came out close to 2000.
hallwaypro 2 years ago
The 1977 libretto has Stephen-Jesus having a line before Gilmer McCormick.
