the annoying thing is that I love this vid, but when ever I try and find more footage of Mitch and Jimi i get on this video think im gonna see some new footage of fire, but oh know it's that wrongly titled Hey jude that this dude has been getting stick for since he posted it... You should really throw us of the beaten track and stick on as a Elvis plays Hit me baby one more time from his his classic album "Trout mask replica"
I find it hard to believe a true Hendrix or Mitch fan would say this is Fire or Red House..Jimi sings 'Hey Joe' enough, you would think people would get what song it is..Great drummer and amazing guitar lead! RIP Jimi.
If you look at the uploader's profile you'll see he only put up this video and only has one favorite...I'm pretty sure this was a perfectly executed master plan where he'd post a Jimi song under the wrong name just to see what kind of stupid YouTube comments he'd get. Well, almost two years later, it's still working. This guy is a genius.
I agree on the drummers. I liked Carmine Appice too from that period. They all had individual styles and set the standard in Rock Drumming. Most of them had a pretty good jazz background too...especially Paice, Baker and Mitchell.
i don't think he was even insulting mitchell, he was just pointing out if you get discouraged from something just because you'll never be stunning at it, you probably shouldn't be doing it in the first place.
Man, Felipe, you have got your head p your ass! If you are a drummer and you are dicouraged by Mitch Mitchell ( unless it's because you know you'll never be that great), throw in the towel, because you don't get it.
nothing to say, mitch mitchell is one of my favourite drummers of that era...maybe THE favourite for me...others that drive me mad are keith moon, ginger baker and mike shrieves at the woodstock festival...but mitch, man, had that touch..
I met Mitch about four years ago down in Hastings.I told him i had the woodstock video and he said' That's more than I've got'I laughed like you do, wasn't sure what he meant.Anyway i managed to say 'jam back at the house though- when it all comes back in again-your drumming's wild.'I mean the bit after the drum solo where he starts to play with the beat. It feels like your're standing on shifting sands- and What a Gentleman! He had a light in his eyes and said 'Aww thanks mate'
Keith Emerson & Greg Lake tried to recruit Mitch Mitchell to play drums for them in a progressive rock band. He declined the offer, so they got Carl Palmer instead, and the rest, as they say, is history!
mitch is pretty nice in this vid, hes using a lot of triplets between hands and feet as well as four stroke ruffs, but mostly just eight note fills, but he does them well DOPE!
mitch has to be the best drummer of the era... i can't belive he was mainly self taught. i can't find any interviews with him on youtube, its really shit. he is definitely my drumming idol, i would kill to meet him.
Mitch Mitchell made an astoundingly humongous impact on rock and pop drummers. Technique and approach aside, he's probably one of those rock drummers back then who really paid very close attention to his drum and cymbal setup. All his drums and cymbals are positioned for natural, fluid motion. That influenced a whole generation of drummers and me as well. He learnt and applied his shit well. A Drummer's Drummer indeed!
Chea Dude Hendrix iz a frikkin godly beast R.I.P. Jimi and The Experience Ownz Hard Mitch Mitchell iz a beast drummer especially on Bold as Love and Fire and Manic Depression and Noel wuz gr8 2 kept nyce rhythym
They for sure surpass any "ordinary garage band." They sound perfect in this performance. If you can't appreciate the more raw sound, you must be pretty faint of heart. Keep in mind that this is a recording from some time ago.
I admit that this is a typical Strat-Marshall sound going through a Fuzz Face. It cleans up when you back up the volume of the guitar. I have seeen much worse performance by Hendrix than this one. I like Hendrix, but because of the limited technology in 69, it was difficult to reproduce the studio performance live.
man thats wu i like... i love that it sounds raw and not like the cd... this was jus a calm performance... around the time he was bein seen and u know tryin to get his foot in the door... so he kept it smooth for a while
