@USAdude30 Not in the least. Why? (Personally I prefer the term "progressive", but that's neither here nor there.) Should I be wearing only hemp and going barefoot and eating only nuts and granola? I don't do stereotypes.
Dozens of such films was made by US, but i can't remember any Soviet. Fear is powerful tool for controlling minds of masses. And US still using it for today.
@Pavulan4ik Privyet iz Ameriki. Ya pomniu etot film kogda on sperva vishil v' 1966 goda. Mi togda tozhe volnovalis' chto skoro budzit yadridnaya voina. Mi tozhe ochen radi chto mi nye razbomobilil drug druga. Ladno, Vsyevo horoshovo i budtse zdarovomi. --Nikolai
haha my favorite scene in this moive is when the Russians hang the lady on a peg and her husband asks what are you doing there....or something like that
@fatima01917 My god-mother is Russian, maternal great grand mother was Russian ... Mimi used to make big errors, she once forgot to make sauerkraut and pumpernickel two weeks in a row (great grand papa was raging) and she fell out with the Ukrainian girl that worked in the diary (over charged her for the butter and milk) .Pity Our Lady of Fatima didn't bother to warn altar boys/girls and children in homes to avoid the clergy ... 1st remove 'errors' from religion first THEN preach. Great clip.
Alan Arkin (who received the Best Actor Academy Award for this role) was so great as Rozanov. You quickly become engrossed with his plight (and his countrymen) as they seek a boat to pull their submarine which has stranded on a sandbar. Great situations -- deftly mixing comedy with drama. And I loved the magnificent singing too. This is a great, fun trailer (sure beats the pants off movie trailers these days!) DA DA!
this is the best movie trailer ive ever seen i love the parts with alison and alexei. "you kiss at me?" awe :P great movie, you can just watch it over and over again and not get bored from it
Just saw last week on a PBS station...trailer does a good job showing funny moments & basic plot. The 9 yr old son was annoying... btw the love interest was played by John Phillip Law who just passed away.
@USAdude30 Thanks. :). You too

And think about the time it was released, right smack in the middle of the cold war. A very gutsy film for its time.

Well, it's a combination of the Song of the Volga Boatmen and Polushko Pole.
