  • AND ANOTHER THING THIS IS NOT SOME KINDA BOXING OR MIX MARTIAL ARTS ARENA MUSTA LUK AGAIN THIS IS NOT A FIGHT. IF UR ENTIRE FAMILY IS FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER LIKE PULLING HAIR SLAP FACE TO EACH OTHER ROLLING TO DA FLOOR PUNCHING HEAD BANG TO THE WALL WELL THAT'S UR FAMILY BUT ...DON'T DO THIS TO LEA AND CHARICE. THEY RESPECT EACH OTHER LET'S SUPPORT OR KABABAYAN. OKAY?!

  • BTW RECOGNIZE BY OPRAH AND DAVID FOSTER IS LIKE WINNING THE AWARD.

  • THAT'S CRAZY TO SHOW THEIR EARNINGS TO EVERYONE EVEN IF UR NOT THEIR FAMILY?! OH C'MON.

  • WOW HOW DID YA KNOW ABOUT THEIR EARNING R U MEMBER OF THEIR FAMILY ?! OH NAW!

  • WOW LEA AND CHARICE I LOVE U

  • Charice is a very skilled duet singer (as are probably most singers from the Phillipines). Their voices blend beautifully.

  • all i can say here...the two distinct talented vocals are really awesome...nobody dominates the other... hope they can have at least one single/track to make...

  • watch and like watch?v=7ev8-Dos5wU

  • Its very obvious that Charice respects Lea very much. She barely increase her voice, to give way to Lea's own to be heard. I mean, we all know that Charice has strong voice, yet you could barely hear her here. Lea has already proven her worth a singer throughout the world, and yes, I believe Charice would be as well in the future. For now, we should just be happy for the all the glory this two singer brought to the Philippines.

  • @musicheals091 Lea Salonga can't get "underpaid" because performers' unions in the US are very strict in enforcing what's on their pay scale. Given Salonga' elite Broadway star status, her management team makes sure she doesn't get the bad end of the deal.

  • I LOVE Charice and wish her only the best. However, unless she wins a Grammy or an AMA (to match Lea Salonga's Tony), she won't be in the same elite league (in terms of official pay classification and star status when signing contracts) that Lea Salonga is in. Note that in addition to Salonga's American Tony, she also has her British Olivier (she's elite status both in the US and in the UK), and her Flower Drum Song cast album also has a Grammy nod. Charice has a LOOOONGGGG way to go.

  • @michellyeponiny Don't forget A Whole New World's (Aladdin) Oscar nod, with Salonga also performing. But yes, it would be interesting (and inspiring to her countrymen) for Charice to go for a Grammy, too.

  • @musicheals091 Lea Salonga earns big. She's got royalties from Miss Saigon and all her other recordings, plus her Tony status puts her on top of the pay scale each time she appears in a musical. Lea Salonga beats Charice not only in critical acclaim, but also in earnings.

  • However, Charice DOES deserve all the accolades she gets, as she's got real talent that should make her the next pop superstar (although we know it's not going to happen since she's not caucasian and won't be supported by America's mainstream white audience. But kudos to Salonga for keeping on supporting Charice in her attempt at international stardom!

  • It's appalling to read the comments of ignoramuses here. Salonga is at the top of her field. She's the ONLY actor in the ENTIRE history of theater to win both the Olivier & the Tony for a single role, on top of her many first & onlys. And she remains active internationally, even after 30 years in the business. Has Charice accomplished anything REMOTELY close to Salonga in her field of pop music? Any Grammys? Billboard #1s? Charice should be honored to mentioned in the same sentence as Salonga!

  • This is makes ASAP number 1. excellent in arranging the artists number.

  • @musicheals091 All right, so who's in demand right now? Lea Salonga is performing at concerts all over the world and is preparing for another Broadway lead role for 2012. What is Charice doing? Is she performing at all after being dropped from David Foster's roll?

  • Lea and Charice is my Diva!!!!

  • love them both

  • both are fantastic best singers in the world. i am caucasian from canada. saw charice on ellen and i am hooked the talent you have in the phillipines is amazing. because of charice the world is now watching the phillipines.

  • Kudos to the many efforts of Filipino talents to be seen and heard outside the country. God has blessed our country with so much and so most glory must be given to the Giver! Love you Lea and Charice!

  • sana kumain muna sya before the show!!! para di nya KINAKAIN ung LYRICS nung kanta!!!! PG!!!!

  • cmon!!!! it's disgusthing!!! please!!! don't compare the voice of LEA to Charisse! pinoy ako! i know!!! Lea's voice i sophisticated and SO ssooo so not comparable to dat Gasul kid!!! she has a powerful voice, YES! pang KARAOKE!!!! cmon Guys! No class at ALL!!!!

  • We should love and show respect to others, if we like others do the same to us. What's Filipino culture without it??? Peace!!!!!!!!OKAY????

  • Both of them are great singers.

  • LEA SALONGA

Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical

Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and the Theatre World Awards

First Asian to play Eponine in the Broadway production of Les Misérables.

Disney Legend: singing voice of Mulan and Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin

  • why is it that citizens in other countries don't love their country. When someone said i love my country, they will react. It just like in business like Jollibee and McDo, when one locate in one place, expect the other will build in the days to come. They don't make issues, they compete.

  • 17 yrs old charice, but today 2011, she excellent, lea she's great also.

  • I cannot wait for Charice to come back to Vancouver, BC or Seattle, WA. Lea Salonga came to Vancouver, BC at the PNE last August 28, 2011 where she was mobbed by thousands. Too bad, it was an outdoor event; if it was inside the Pacific Coliseum thousands more would have been able to see her. Nevertheless, Lea Salonga's show was awesome even if it was siksikan. When Charice comes back it will be at the Rogers Arena; I will surely be there also for sure.

  • I loooooooove Lea Salonga I listened to her growing up she was always the voice behing the disney music... Love her and she is the OG... But I love Charice too they r both amazing in their own special ways

  • I CAN SEE THE MOTHER DAUGHTER TANDEM IN GLEE SEASON 3.. :D

  • I love you, Lea... <3

  • lol, sunshine corazon and her mom.. nationality aside, they don't look a thing alike.. c'mon!

  • omg, I nearly had an orgasm when I saw their names together.

  • look it's sunshine corazon and her mom! make it happen glee!!!

  • love charice...

  • Galing galing talaga ni Lea! :) I so love her! :)

  • there we go, this is a fair video, i once saw i video of this, but i dont how it happened, in charice part you can't almost hear her voice, but in this video her voice is so clear. So in that video, all praise was on lea.

  • Y'know I loved Lea Salonga's voice 1st 5 notes into the 1st song I heard her sing... "On My Own" in 10th anniversary concert of Les Miserables on TV. One of the best voices ever was my reaction.

I am Irish American and I didn't know Lea or her heritage. I just knew her voice and that was all I needed to know.

That she comes from the remarkable Fillipino tradition of loving music is of course part of her but for me it is her voice that matters.

She is a gift to all of us. So glad.

  • Mabuhay CHARICE at LEAH isang kayamanan kayo na maituturing ng ating bansa! kau ay isa sa mga nagppkita ng galing ng pinoy sa buong mundo!!! More power sa inyong dalawa God Bless!!

  • Mabuhay CRARICE at LEAH isang kayamanan kayo na maituturing ng ating bansa! kau ay isa sa mga nagppkita ng galing ng pinoy sa buong mundo!!! More power sa inyong dalawa God Bless!!

  • Filipino entertainment is as primitive as its current state.

Before singing about healing the world, Filipinos should fix its own problems. It's already 2011 and the Philippines is stuck in the middle ages. Puro kantahan, iyakan, yabangan, pinoy pride...pag uwi, walang makain tapos tuloy sa OFW office para mag trabaho ng ibang bansa.

    MGA TANGA!

  • This performance is a showcase and not a comparison, all i can say is bravo... they both compliment each other, including the company.... bravo!!!

  • GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!!! I thank GODfor their talents....!!!! amazing!!!

  • What is glaring for Filipinos is the dearth of heroes and the feeling of hopelessness. Abused and colonized , and sold by politicians down the gutter, this comments are understandable.

So when outstanding personnalities comes along, Pacqiao, Lea Salonga and now Charice, please forgive us.The illusion is our hope !

  • these two put the the Philippines in the international world of music. they're the best of the crop . . . .

  • ang galing ni charice tapos ang usapan hehhee

  • Both are awesome, Charice in belting...Lea has an angelic voice and sings crystal clear. Lea does acting and singing at the same time.

  • Lea Salonga by 10million miles!!!!

  • @JRLOP3Z charice by 100 million miles. world superstar

  • Heal the world is such a wonderful song!!

  • sa dulo naka off ung mic ni charice

  • i cried

  • now..thats a great duet..u will not see competition between this great singers..=)

    love them both!!

  • i love it proud to be a filipino

  • so beautiful...

  • yeah... everyone have their own uniqueness, so please stop comparing.. if you want to become famous, be yourself... make your own title...

  • lea is superb

  • This is like the best filipino singers ever! well lets include Regine Velasquez..she too can sing..they should all sing together. No matter this is CHARICE's time to be recognized with her amazing powerful voice. Please come visit the Michigan Land. I want to hear ur voice in person and get that chills. lol

  • why is it always anyone compares who is better, both have a different voice genre'. in performance, i can't say who is better because they are ones of the best singers we have, Filipinos that made our country known and popular and recognized by the whole world. okay, here's what i can say about the two as a singer, lea has an heavenly and angelic voice that makes you up in the air bringing to heaven. for Charice he has a powerful and high belt out voice that make you shocked and surprised.

  • Bias talaga ang ABS CBN, hindi pinapanalo si charice. Basically gusto lang nila yung matangkad , gaya ni sarah gernonimo yung tipong mapakinabangan sa pelikula at iba pang klase ng project. No hate to sarah example lang. Oo nga pala! nsan na yung champion ung lalaking nakalaban ni charice? May Career ba?

  • Two artists i really like

  • charice ish one ogly ogly litel garl

  • @isdakongsupot

    ur mom is

  • well done, :)

    lea really is excellent :D

  • Some fool people dont know anything about music...Why would they compare lea to charice...Lea is in a broadway and has a angel voice while charice is a pop star just like mariah etc..Dont compare her to charice they have different talents!

  • @sideringknockout right! I really don't understand as to why people compares them. Lea is a broadway singer, meaning she acts while she sings, thus her singing should be clear and sophisticated. Charice is a pop singer like Justin B, Taylor S, and the rest. Side, Lea Salonga came from a well to do family and studied broadway singing and all those stuff whilst Charice has no formal singing education. People should be aware of that fact and should stop voicing opinions when they're clueless.

  • @sighcoey watch and like watch?v=7ev8-Dos5wU

  • the filipinos are so talented...in every form of art!

  • @madacraiova they asians.

  • hmm pangit ng audio ng abs nito.. hehe sorry nmn s mtatamaan ah. comment lng po. ntakpan kz msyado ng tugtog ung voice ng mga singer.. khit parang birit na birit na.. ndi maintindihan msyado

  • Both are great!

  • with all due respect , charice just engulfs everyone who sings along with her....

    peace : >

  • ang sarap panuorin nila lea at charice!!yan ang talent!! :D

  • pareho po silang magaling at pareho rin pang international.... para silang mag ina.... ung boses ni lea salonga.. parang boses ni lea mitchele but mas maganda ang boses ni lea salonga.. .. c charice. ka level nya sina whitney,celine... okk....

  • misplaced pride. we're proud period and it's not misplaced.

charice is way better than leah. .. but i'm still proud of leah.

  • 2 world class superstars

  • I think charice just wants to show off and lea salonga is wayyyy better

  • i love lea as much as i love charice.... lea has so many beautiful covers herself and she has her own genre. and she's gooood at it.

  • Si Charice maraming kaparehong boses?? C'mon people... She was the "chosen one" because she IS unique. Kung mraming syang katulad, then it should be logical to say there should've been a lot of filipinos in Glee, or in Oprah, or with David F right now. Doesn't it makes sense?

And PLEASE..dont overreact with your ethnic pride. Things like "I'm so proud to be a filipino" or "Filipinos are the greatest" are so like, making a mountain out of a molehill. Seriously..everybody can be great. Just sayin'

  • @Batibot390 swerte lng c charice...thats how it is....lol

  • @MrMckoy33 Swerte? I hope you know na hindi pa-raffle na may tambyolo ang pagpili ng talent. At ang pumili sa kanya, are the experts in the global field. Sandali lang ang video ni Charice dito sa youtube, at napil agad. Yung iba, taon na ang itinagal nila dito with thousands of videos to count, yet hindi parin napansin. I wouldn't call it "swerte". So I'll still stick by my views.

  • @Batibot390 kaya nga swerte sya kasi ung video nya ang unang nakita...what if lng kong ibang video ung una nakita?lol hindi tulad ni arnel

  • @MrMckoy33 Hindi video ni Charice ang una nilang nakita. For sure marami na silang nakitang iba. Matagal na tong youtube diba? Marami naring nag-upload ng talents dito.

Halimbawa kung pagpipiliin ka sa limang bagay, kailangan mong makita lahat diba? Hindi kung anong una mong makita.

  • @Batibot390 Well said! I really hate it when others go jumping into "Filipino Pride BABY!"... P.S - I am Filipino myself and I believe that others can be great too xD

  • @Batibot390 wala nang away please!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • charice and lea had 3 things in common , they both have round face, beautiful voice and they both are intl. stars!!!!1

  • Lea is Lea. Charice is Charice. Lea sings broadway, Charice sings at concerts. THEY ARE BOTH AWESOME FOR WHAT THEY ARE.

    STOP THE HATING.

PS: They both love each other's talents :3

  • oops.. sorry for the spellin ^_^ but its mezzo-soprano not messo lol.. ^_^

  • They are both great.. They are one of the most beautiful voices I have heard... Their voice blend so well together.. Lea's main strength is her crystal clear voice 0:02-0:25.. Charice's trump card is her powerful voice 1:18-1:33. They really difficult to compare simply because they are totally different from each other and have so minimal aspects where you can compare them justifiably.

  • ^_^ since you all want to compare them which they shouldnt be.. Take note this is only for the sake of comparing and it is just my opinion.. I will only mention their strengths only that are easily noticable.. Lea's timbre is like a crytal clear tone (suited for classical broadway), her speech and vocal transition are excellent. Charice vocal weight/power is her asset, superb speech& vocal transition, wide vocal range (a messo-soprano that can go low as alto and as high as dramatic soprano).

  • i love these great singers than Kris Aquino nyeahhhee

  • 2 generations of Filipino stars! It's so awesome!

  • Beautiful voices. So they're Filipinos. Big deal. I say they're good just because they're good and not because they're Filipino. Misplaced pride is arrogance with no basis. People need to remember that.

  • @filledvoid very true....

  • @filledvoid i totally completely agree with you. it's actually embarassing already. For me, Charice is amazing because of her own doing, nothing to do with her race at all. Us Filipinos should realize that we just happen to be born Filipinos, we had no choice in the matter. Charice is amazing because Charice is Charice. Period

  • @ronparel but it seems like majority of filipinos can sing and dance well

  • @filledvoid great comment!

  • @filledvoid It's more like they're good and they are filipinos where English is a 2nd language. And it's more like being proud than pride I think. If other filipinos think other wise, then I don't know. Hahaha!

  • @alyou Then be proud of the person, but stop associating just because she's Filipino.

    e.g.

Person1: "Wow! Look at that person with talent!"

Person2: "I know that guy! He's from my hometown! I'm proud to be a (hometown)-ian because of that talented person!"

    Person1: "Uh.... yeah."

  • @filledvoid National pride is not misplaced pride.

  • @tatapeping Her achievement is not the achievement of the country. It is hers alone. Be proud of her, not "Proud to be Pinoy" - that is not National pride, it's jumping in the bandwagon pride.

  • @filledvoid it's obviously her achievement, no doubt. I speak from the heart when I say I am 'proud to be pinoy' and my honest remark should not be categorized as such.I did not just magically become patriotic because a pop star risen to stardom happens to be Filipino. I take pride in Filipino excellence. She represents our country, and that's what she does.An Olympian fights for victory for himself and his nation.Charice is no different. She is known to be patriotic and I respect her for that.

  • @tatapeping Then be proud of her instead, and not say "Proud to be Pinoy" when I see no achievement of the people as a whole is present in this video.

  • @filledvoid Just because there is no symbol of national pride or anything written in their foreheads saying 'Filipino Pride',then I'm sorry if you can't see any 'presence'.You choose to see rather than feel. You have different views & beliefs,so do I.Hence, you are in no place to educate people & dictate my emotions based on your own beliefs.I know a few who react like this, ashamed of their identity & cringe at the sound of 'Proud to be Pinoy'.You think not, but that's racism in a different level.

  • @tatapeping How do I feel? I feel proud for her. I am saying in context with the current achievement. I can be proud to be a Filipino. But I'll feel it when we really do something as a race. I don't wantonly throw around phrases like being proud of the ourselves because of an achievement of an individual. I am not ashamed that I am a Filipino, but I can be ashamed of you, or any "Pinoy". Stop throwing around 'racism' like it was always some tool for oppressing us.

  • @filledvoid Come on, you almost got me there. Until you said that you are 'proud of her'. Happy, maybe..But proud of her?!? Do you know her personally to profess such strong emotions towards her? I don't but I'm proud mainly because we come from the same race & they exude talent. Filipino excellence, be it individual or as a whole, is something to be celebrated and proud of. You are in no position to measure my national pride. Proud to be a 'De la Cruz'. Proud to be Pinoy. Same Banana.

  • @filledvoid How could you be proud of someone you don't know? I wouldn't be proud of a person on the street playing a guitar but I'd certainly feel entertained..NOT PROUD. You refuse to be proud of this person representing our country..so, to be clear..why are you proud of her exactly? Because she's good? Sorry to burst your bubble but you seem to have a bad case of MISPLACED PRIDE. You are contradicting yourself.

  • @tatapeping She is not representing our country. You just assumed she is because she is Filipino. I feel proud FOR her as a person because she got to the top with her talent and determination. She is someone to look up to.

You like to say represent just because someone did something good, just to elate a collective that includes YOU. But when someone does something embarrassing it suddenly becomes an individual endeavor.

  • @filledvoid I have watched several of their interviews and both have voiced their desire to. In one interview, Lea had publicly declared that she would like to be an ambassador to represent our country in any way. I watched them all on youtube, by the way. I did not assume. You did.

  • @filledvoid ....Filipinos tend to be a proud nation even when a fellow countryman succeeds individually. This pride exists in other countries, as well. But for some cultures, this is may be defined as misplaced pride. You are a Filipino so you, of all people, should understand that this is who we are and how we react. It is not necessary to get vexed and dismiss a person with misplaced pride without understanding his culture just because other people are not comfortable with their views...

  • Comment removed

  • I hope we stop telling that we're proud to be filipino because of them we should say we proud for them because of what they achieve in their lives and lets support that...its just so embarrassing when you read comments that always saying that they are proud to be pinoy there's nothing to be proud about ourselves cuz wer'e not the one who has talent..when other races read our comment s they probably so sick of hearing and reading that we are so proud to be pinoy because of them....

  • @chelz23ful i agree......

  • we should like them both coz they are truly a Filipino pride....not like our PNP shame on them....

  • leah is a good singer, and if you say lea salonga, expect the best.

  • go Miss Lea~!! :D

  • amazing...!! go, ms.lea...you're forever my idol..!!!

  • they makes me proud to be a filipino! :))

  • wow pati back up mga pros

  • I LOVE THEM BOTH.........PRIDE OF THE PHILIPPINES.....CLASSIC VOICES...... HANGGANG DITO MAY CRABS PA DIN, AKALA KO NABENTA NA KAYO LAHAT SA PALENGKE.......MAMATAY KAYO LAHAT SA INGGIT !!!! THE BEST OF THE PHILIPPINES...LEA SALONGA AND CHARICE PEMPENGCO !!!!!

  • you can see this only in the philippines!!!!

  • This is a rare event, having the two finest voices in the country and certainly two of the best in the world singing together! So let's just be proud and support them. After all they're doing all the work to bring honor to our country and our support is the only thing we can contribute. You know guys, heal the world is not only a song, it starts with each everyone of us.

  • To all Filipinos who hate Charice, please stop being stubborn. Just support her and be proud of her because she is doing her way for us to become known in this world.

  • wonderful to see amazing talents singing together. its about time someone follows the success of lea salonga. and its wonderful that that person comes in the form of a once-in-a-generation talent like Charice.

  • both singers are very good but lea's voice dominates.

  • lea is a witch

  • @Anf26Hollister hahah

  • Wow! Two of the Philippines' world-class performers.

  • lea is so pretty.

  • I hope someday I would be able to watch Lea in NY Broadway and a Charice concert in MSG..

  • This is the first time I heard two singers who can blend their voices to sound as one. Not to mention that they both excel in different genres. Charice in the POP or contemporary culture and Lea in Broadway Musicals. I love watching Lea's interviews because she speaks like she grew up in New York! Very articulate, fluent, smart, and classy.

  • Two of David Foster's three favorite Filipino singers are Charice and Lea. The third one is Arnel.

  • Wow! Lea Salonga and Charice doing a duet....amazing...two of the best...

  • Wow, their voices could not be anymore different, but they blended really well together! Very nice, for lack of a better word.
