@nivenhuh i was fly just a few days ago myself and my instructor said, would you rather have an engine with dirt in it, or an engine that doesn't even run, he most likely did that do prevent carb icing,
@JohnnyEMatos Just depends on the aircraft. Low wings with Lycomming usually require it, continental usually don't. But like I said it just depends on a/c
I like the Cessna's better, but the first airplane I ever flew in when I was like 3 or 4 was a Cessna and the first plane I actually got to pilot was a Cessna 172. However I did get a flight in an Arrow and I LOVE!!! Cubs so I'm a Piper fan too. Hands down if I had the money and probably my own airstrip I would have a classic 172, a Cherokee or Arrow, and of course a Piper Cub.
@JetMechMA I've looked up reviews from other pilots and a lot of people say they would rather fly a Piper than a Cessna, however...There are a lot of people saying they would rather fly a Cessna than a Piper....I think it's more of a personal preference...Both planes feel different, but it's hard to say what it is that is different....I learned in a Piper, so I'm a Piper fan, myself.....
@hoppy123456798 I lean towards Cessna but I think only because of their marketting and MS Flight Sim. I like the cockpit of the Piper in this video...I notice they even have the throttle in a little throttle console, kinda like the airliners I work on. That seems more natural to me....but I only taxi airliners, I'm not a pilot. The only drawback I can think of with Piper is preflighting under the low slung wing.
It looks pretty good. Is that a camera that is mounted on the door window? How is the video quality from it? I'm just looking around to find a camera to document all my instrument training.
Frickin awesome video man..
I do this all day, unfortunately it's on X-plane in the Carenado Archer II..Much cheaper though!
motokid032 4 weeks ago
Hey man that was awesome! Quick question, what camera did you use to record this?
737pilot7 1 month ago
@737pilot7 It's a Panasonic DMC-ZS3, just a point-and-shoot camera that can do 720p video.

Why was the alternate frequency 121.5, that's an emergency frequency, isn't that?
tkdloveraus 2 months ago
@tkdloveraus We're trained from our flying club to check 121.50 for the ELT after we land. It was left from that.
uberchuckie 2 months ago
@tkdloveraus fair enough, but we turned straight to ground for taxi clearance after landing in Aus
tkdloveraus 2 months ago
@tkdloveraus That's what we do too but our flying club doesn't have a tower and it's not in controlled airspace.

so did u turn the fuel pump of at any time
Deaksvidz 4 months ago
You left the carb heat on for most of the run-up! Quick way to ruin an engine (if you suck up some stuff from outside).

Isn't it necessary to use the fuel pump for takeoff?
JohnnyEMatos 6 months ago
@JohnnyEMatos I think so. I've never flown a low-wing though.
uberchuckie 6 months ago
@JohnnyEMatos
Its not necessary but recommended, in case the engine -driven fuel pump fails.
HDaviator 4 months ago
@JohnnyEMatos Just depends on the aircraft. Low wings with Lycomming usually require it, continental usually don't. But like I said it just depends on a/c
40joel 3 months ago
@JohnnyEMatos it's not necesary, but it gives more power when you take off
But it is always necesary to use the fuel pump to turn the engine on ;)

That is an ADF rcvr to the right of the COM/NAV and Xpndr, right ?
kd4adv 7 months ago
@kd4adv Yep. I don't think it works though. My buddy wants to remove it but the plane needs to be balanced again so he hasn't bothered.

Not to be rude...be this is more of a Run-Up..NOT a Pre-Flight

@comandantelucca just saying that the simulators these days have pretty good graphics and ultra realistic.

@58jtaylor yes, i play them but in this video it clearly isnt a simulator

It looks like its in fantastic condition for an older model. How many hours does the plane have?
jckafrd 9 months ago
@jckafrd I think a couple of thousand hours on the airframe and just over 200 hours SMOH.

Dont film what he is doing
MrGeophil 10 months ago
why did you cut the mixture during the run-up? never seen that done before
therabbit0 10 months ago
@therabbit0 To make sure mixture leaning works. The run-up for the Cessna 172 had the same step if I recall correctly.

really good video tell me does the hero go pro wide have an internal mic or external source
matjinthol 1 year ago
@matjinthol
It's an internal mic. I think the GoPro HD has an optional non-waterproof case where you can plug an external mic in? I'm not sure.

The 180 is so much fun to fly. No matter how many times I see it I can never believe how quickly you can pull up.

I love the Piper..... I never say no to flying a cessna but i kind of lost interest in it after the first 100hrs....
Piper all the way! :D

how much is the cherokee 180?
Pier2pie 2 years ago
That really depends on the condition of the plane and how many hours are on the engine.

I've seen em from $14,000 up through $200,000 .....Just depends on condition of the aircraft...
