It may be easy for those who weren't around in '78 to dump on VH's guitar playing now; mainly since so many tried to copy him (but very few did anything original with it), but it's pretty safe to say that Eddie VH's style was as mind-blowing and new in 1978 through the early '80's as Hendrix's style was in 1966 to 1970. I think if Hendrix had lived long enough to hear Eddie Van Halen, he would have gladly said, "Yep, there's the next phase in the evolution of electric guitar."

You know I said to a friend of mine recently that Eddie was obviously the hitmaker in that band. He disagreed. Idk how he can't be. Every single VH album ever released has at least one number one hit (Even VHIII had Without you which was number 1 for a while and Tattoo is number one on classic rock stations) and the only thing ever VH album has in common is Eddie and Alex. Dave had almost no success other then Yankee Rose and Sammy had that 55 song and Chickenfoot who I think kinda suck.
