We don't know how exactly biological organisms work, nor do we fully understand evolution. We don't even know the ages of fossils because our dating systems are inaccurate. But it still shares obvious similarities with familiar organisms. A problem with explaining this creature is that we know so little about this ecosystem and its history. Sorry, but no explanation from me as of yet.

Its crazy in our perspective but in effort to keep the species alive that is what they must do in order to survive in such grueling areas.
