whoever says he's already been noticed needs to like WAKE UP, his band was owned by an independant record company right?anyway HE is not owned by any company ..plus he never won any competition prior to AI unlike fellow contestant archuleta who did star search and had time to get recognised...cook has experience with touring but so what...both davids deserve to win, theyve both worked for it so dont judge

By reading his info on wiki, I think he has already had his chance plenty of times. He's already shared the stage with Maroon Five, Smashmouth and more. He has a solo albumn that was independently produced and another one that he had just finished before AI.

He was chosen because of this. And he sounds like Creed in this song. blech

this is a late reply. about 7 months late. but. i think idol paves the way for many undiscovered people with a lot of talent to become noticed and make it big in the industry. that's just all there is to it. i'm positive he didn't win this show based on luck. he is an amazing performer!
