  • Very cool install.

  • I most say sir very very good job sir...

  • Hi , great video, Im just about to buy one of these radios, I got myself the access point dongle for dstar so looking forward to it coming.. the front bracket you have seems to have the two hole insets for the magnets does that come with the radio? if not could you point me in the right direction where it comes from? James G0SEC..

  • @TheHamshack It comes with the separation kit, which I think, comes with the radio.

  • What do you run for antennas? Any suggestions?

    73

  • @K0BLR I use two Comet CA2X4SR's. They will transmit out of band with a flat SWR. If the need arises of course.

  • Awesome Video. I might have to fab that the same bracket.

  • @buffaloo99 Yes, and on the negative side also. Thanks and great to meet you.

  • Great install, very clean. I like the FJ, if I ever let myself buy a new rig, the FJ is at the top of the list, thanks for the video

  • @beast12101 Thanks, I had a 74' IH Scout II 345 V-8. It was the ultimate off roader. Unstoppable in granny gear.

  • Nice install--esp. the custom fabricated brackets. Very impressed with those. They blend in well with the FJ. Are you running D-STAR?

  • @HoustonMtn Thank you. Yes, I'm usually on The Big Jax machine, 820 feet up in Jacksonville FL. "Yourcall" /KJ4RYFCL and give me a call.

  • Great video, nice install

Thanks for posting, but this isn't going to help me talk myself out of a mobile radio...

    LOL

  • @GearBuyersGuide Yup, easy in easy out. just a power supply and antenna in the house or hotel and your still in contact... or just X-band.

  • Very clean install!

I was very interested in the power line connections. Perhaps in future videos you might talk more on 12v connections. Many thanks for sharing with us!

  • @USNERDOC Thanks Doc. What exactly are your interest regarding the 12v hookup? I used number 6 or 8 black and red zip wire, inline fuse holders and 50 amp connectors from our favorite power store, powerwerx(dot)com... Love that store :)

  • @K4IFX - I like the same power store! I thought it would be interesting to get insight on your thoughts regarding good 12v connections. How to choose the wore gauge and connectors. I assume 10 or 12 would have been to light given the length of the run. Your set-up was clean and efficient . . . just really caught my eye!

  • @USNERDOC Yup, KC9TET wants one of their power supplies for X-mas. I always go overkill with the heavy gauge wire and connectors so that it could handle large amplifier if I chose to run one. Those 50 amp connectors are my standard for everything, just filling the connectors with melted solder and inserting the wire. Did you see my vid on the Icom 2820H operation? Great radio!

  • Nice and clean setup. Looks great.

  • @jnjulie Thanks, Brother!
