I'm usually into kung fu movies, but this movie takes me back to when I was sick as a little girl with the flu. This was on TV & it gave me some comfort. Ever since, I've loved this movie.
@TheBelldiver i was born in 68' i just hope u understand how fortunate u r , i wish i was born when u were....53 or so, dependin onthe month u were born was a great yr 2 b born in...pretty much late enough to miss the vietnam war legit...and still early enough to catch and enjoy the best of the 50's as a very young child and come up in the 60's and really put it all 2gether in the 1970's! ..i'm neither a wierdo or am i jealous for that matter..i am however envious in a cool way 2day sucks
@TheBelldiver same here, maybe 10 or 11 .. really cramped in the back seat of my brothers Porshe, if you can call it a "back seat" ... long movie, but really good ..
@WillBobAl4ever@WillBobAl4ever I wonder if those lines were directly as written in the script. Anyway, he thoroughly owns the scum sucking pig line when he delivers it with so much authority, focus, and passion. Can't get enough of that Brando!
I would say that Carl Malden is a great actor but he doesnt upstage Marlon Brando this a good movie but a little long. Worth watching if Ur a fan of Brando
I'm reading Romeo & Juliet and I can't help but notice the parallels, especially in the end when he says we'll find a place, and I wonder if others noticed the parallels to Shakespeare's play and if they are not just intentional but obvious?
Viewed it at Camp Lejeune when released. A theatre full of Marines quiet, totally riveted on Brando, waiting for the character Rio to explode. Trying to grab it on a quality DVD someday.
Louisa Died at age 30?? She committed suicide...How very sad :( she really showed her chops with this movie!! Man, I'm still in SHOCK..she committed suicide...How awful
@pretorious700 Not according to Karl Malden "Himself"...Listen to how much better he thought Brando was to himself on the Larry King Tribute to Marlon Brando...You can find it right here on YouTube.
One of the best movies..direction and acting incredible..Brando biggest scene stealer of all time. Stepdaughter performance just marvelous. So many riveting scenes. This is a masterpiece.
@mindspring57 It's sort of like if you have to ask then you will never understand, but I will try. Marlon is speaking in a dialect that is not his own. I'll bet you're willing to admit that when the camera is on Marlon it is often mesmerizing. Third, he directed this picture and I think you will admit that the whole movie is genuine, which it seems is what Marlon wanted. I think you'll admit that you can detect what Marlon is feeling when he wants you to and then not know when he doesn't..

It's a good directing attempt. The location selections is great. And while slow and too long at the start. I's still a fine film.
