These are absolutely NOT 'Thumpers'. Thumpers are accelerated weight drops. they are often mounted on trucks and/or buggies like these, but they are an impulsive energy source. What they show here are Vibrators...nothing else. They gently place the pads on the ground and transmit a sweep of frequencies into the ground be vibrating the pad. It is very uninvasive. They have way less effect on the surface than Thumpers. Again...These are absolutely not Thumpers. '
The man in yellow stole the show... and my heart! I see a strong career in the pictures ahead. When has the phrase "nahh, that's a river crossing" ever rang so sweetly. Bravo, sir.
I loved that job. Spent 5 years with Western Geophysical. We did a lot of road work too. Only ever hurt the roads if it was super hot and the road was asphalt. We never called those "Thumpers" though. They were "vibrators" or "vibes". Thumpers had a heavy weight on the rear of the truck that was dropped of send a shock wave into the the ground. Much like a surface charge of dynamite.
@TheMrBlinx : "Cause they know that these trucks weaken the geological structure locally. You can bet that some politician's relative owns the company that builds the trucks.
