Pritam came in news big time wen his song Zara Zara touch me was allegedly inspired from a Korean song. Not many know that Tips Industry was sued by Sony BMG for over 2 crores for using this song without giving due credit. Tips in return paid the sum. (given in Wiki)

Now here's the twist;

They Paid 2 crores for a sng i.e more than thrice of what they might have paid Pritam to compose an entire album! Any 1 who goes through this will NEVER

You're right - Anu Malik's standing (whatever little that is left) is based on the soundtracks of Fiza, Refugee, Phir teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, Border, Main Hoon Na, Asoka, Aks and other great original scores. And most of the songs that he did copy are NOT the basis of his success.

On the other hand, Pritam's most notable and critically acclaimed works e.g. Race, Life in a Metro, Jab We Met and Dhoom all have 2/3 lifted songs each! He's built a career by plagiarising!

The issue isnt copying, it is copying without permission from the original creator. When I create something and give someone else permission to use it, it isnt plagarism. When someone copies my work without asking my permission, it is plagarism, coz due credit is not being given to the original composer. There's a difference b/w paying someone for someone's work and shamelessly stealing it and not giving due credit.

No-one copies India??? Konnakol, the oldest form of scat-singing, copied by the US since the 1920s-60s. Sampling of Indian music in r'n'b and hip-hop tracks by Timbaland, Truth Hurts etc. "Deevani" is also known for copying Indian music without permission. Also, the copying of Indian stuff doesn't limit itself to music.

Scat-singing isn't necessarily plagiarized, but it IS a copy of Konnakol (which is so much more older than scat). Timbaland does sample Indian music - he's well-known for that. Whether it's "comparable" or not, some people DO copy India , so you can't say that the West never copies India. Like I said before, it's not just Indian music that is copied.
