this is a film in the style of art revolutionists soon a century ago, made just a couple of decades ago. I really appreciate the concern for the art style, I love the vivid yet foggy imagery, and it really is a film that makes me feel as though I have added something to my image syllabary. @youknowmeordoyou I'm a fan of David Lynch, and I love Eraserhead, but IMHO this movie is stronger on an almost subconscious level. When I first saw it, I did not feel as if I was watching a movie-- I felt like I was having a waking dream. Eraserhead doesn't quite reach that depth (at least for me). Eraserhead is almost a parody of mundane life seen through a lens of surreal symbols, and parts of it are admittedly funny. Begotten is more like a humorless and unrelenting primal myth.

Each person will have their own criteria for having seen it, but personally I liked the fact that this was mute and colorless. Te film is very reminiscent of the early twentieth century. The scenes, the actors, music, photography, and even the early effects made me want to see it.
